Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 575: Grind the Bones to Dust, Annihilate

In fact, Ji Jue's suggestion wasn't necessary at all.

At this critical juncture, everyone understood: to resolve the city's turmoil quickly, disperse the impending shadows, and soothe people's hearts, there's only two solutions.

First, kill the Evil Cult, second, kill the 'Evil Cult.'

No matter which method, it must be quick, ruthless, and steady to nip the storm in the bud before it escalates. Likewise, no matter the method, an Evil Cult is required!

Now, the Evil Cult has arrived.

Delivered right in front of Ji Jue.

The time has come to wrap up this farce; this is the final procedure.

—— Look closely, is this the Evil Cult you mentioned?

The same police station, the same interrogation room, under the same camera overlooking, amidst a myriad of scrutinizing eyes, Ji Jue sat in the interrogator's seat, legs crossed, sipping free coffee, casually savoring the aroma.

Without speaking a word.

Despite being well-prepared, hesitated to start the final act.

In the dead silence, the 'confessor' behind the table grew increasingly uneasy, stiffening up, unknowingly sweating, despite having resolved to address the outcome.

Meanwhile, observers outside the scene grew anxious in front of the screens, their brows furrowing.

At this point, if you wanted compensation, it was given; if you wanted respect, it was provided; even if you damn well wanted the Evil Cult, everyone went out of their way to produce one for you. Just nod your head, and this damn mess is over.

It's time to end this, brother?

Stop causing trouble!

Further chaos benefits no one!

Standing outside the interrogation room, Dugu Ming's brow tightened. Feeling the vibration in his pocket, his phone screen lit up, the call flashed briefly before cutting off, a silent urge.

He reached out, pressed the call button on the table, yet said nothing, merely coughed.

Prompting again.

Ji Jue ignored him, continuing to calmly sip coffee, as the seconds ticked away relentlessly on the phone screen.

After a long while, once the time reached the hour mark, he finally put down the coffee cup.

He lifted his head.

And spoke the first words since entering.

Ignoring irrelevant questions concerning name, gender, and age, he cut straight to the chase: "Are you the Evil Cult?"

"...Huh? I... Yes, I am, I am the Evil Cult!"

The 'confessor' initially froze, barely reacting, nodded frantically, and opened his mouth, ready to recite the confession already prepared. But Ji Jue interrupted him, asking again:

"Was it you who attacked me?"

"It was me!" The confessor replied resolutely, guaranteeing with conviction: "It was me! From the start, I've had my eye on you..."

"Is that so?"

Ji Jue propped his chin, asked casually: "Why does it not seem so to me?"

At once, the atmosphere became awkwardly tense, and Dugu Ming slightly changed color behind the one-way glass, about to speak, but heard Ji Jue's voice.

"Over the years, the Evil Cult has developed three main streams, with seventeen branches, further proliferated with countless derivatives. In Central Earth, there are six branches: Wu Wang, Revolving Wheel, Tian Sheng Zhi, Dragon Li Xin, Corpse Star, Seven Fork Hand."

Ji Jue suddenly inquired: "Which branch are you from?"

For a moment, the confessor remained dazed, bewildered, instinctively wanting to glance behind the one-way glass.

Are there such complexities?

Why didn't you tell me?

Ji Jue couldn't help but sigh, helplessly glancing towards Dugu Ming's direction: Is this how you do things? You think you can fool anyone this way?!

For a moment, Dugu Ming felt rather numb.

Clearly, this touched on everyone's blind spot of knowledge; in the past, even if there were secret interactions, only the name Evil Cult was mentioned; who the hell would trace the origins and details of the opposition?!

No choice, even the members of the Evil Cult wouldn't know the things Ji Jue mentioned so thoroughly!

Furthermore, time was tight and the task heavy; there simply wasn't time during the short training!

Now, under Ji Jue's intense gaze, the confessor's cold sweat dribbled down his forehead, restless, lips quivering, instinctively, randomly picking one.

"It's the Seven..."

"Hmm?"

Ji Jue's expression suddenly turned serious, watching him with sharp eyes, until the confessor, struck by inspiration, hurriedly switched: "It's Corpse... Umm, it's Corpse Star?"

"Just as expected."

Ji Jue nodded, seemingly foreseeing the situation, nodding, "The Corpse Star branch has long been active in Central Earth, secretly tangled with the White Country Restoration Front, intertwined. I've known all along, you guys are unrelenting, having set your sights on me, am I right?"

"Correct, correct!"

The newly minted Corpse Star branch member nodded vigorously, then heard Ji Jue ask again: "Though each branch of the Evil Cult varies in status, most consist of five tiers, from top to bottom: Main Priest, Assistant Priest, Inner Array, Witness, Newcomer. Which one are you?"

"Witness..."

The confessor tentatively started, noticing Ji Jue's grim gaze, hastily rephrased: "That Inner, Inner Array, I'm from the Inner Array!"

"Oh? An esteemed core member receiving the Great Sin Essence, that's not easy. It seems even the Evil Cult secretly yearns for the light."

Ji Jue finally smiled warmly, the confessor eagerly attempted to respond in kind, finally hearing his voice: "So, go on, the truth shall set you free.
