Legend of the Awakened Goblin [Tower Climbing LitRPG]

Book 6 - Epilogue

Egnatia hated that the city of Vraxridge in Brukiya was the central point for all portals in Verdantallis. When traveling anywhere, she had to pass Althowin's fortress. The 7 Shard Hero didn't actually monitor the circle and likely didn't care who moved through, as long as they didn't linger in the city.

But if one day she decided to, Egnatia would quickly find herself having a much longer commute from one end of the world to the other. Trains were horribly slow, and Althowin had already made her ride one once. No, she needed to take Vraxridge back for the people.

The pain of portal travel vanished as the view of Vraxridge appeared. Egnatia stepped out, happy to feel solid ground, and took a breath. It always felt like some form of suffocating while moving through any of the portals.

As soon as she fully took her first step, Egnatia stopped.

A familiar figure walked by without noticing her. His attention was on the weird creature at his side. That stupid thing.

Egnatia took a step in their direction. The others were forming behind her. Egnatia signaled to the man.

Nastya simply nodded.

Voolyn didn't care and pushed right by to pass through the portal to Nagyati.

The man stopped before a portal and said something quietly to the small insectoid creature at his side. Egnatia walked up and put an arm over his shoulder.

"Where are you going?"

Myrsvai flinched. "Oh, it's you." He gave her an awkward side hug. "I was on my way to Aksarusa."

"For the Tundra?"

"Indeed."

Egnaita pulled him to the side. "How about you take a detour with me."

"I'd rather not."

Suta tugged on Myrsvai's clothes. The magus looked back at Nastya and Olena watching from behind.

"To where?" he asked.

"Minolitana Prima." Egnatia dragged him toward her portal. "Convenient of you to be here."

"Is it?" Myrsvai ducked out of her hold. "I'm simply trying to go about my business."

"Your business is aiding a goblin and the 7 Shard Hero." Egnatia rested a hand on her sword. "I'm going to be the one to kill you."

Myrsvai just sighed. No fear. No hatred.

After everything they had both been through, she did find some humor in how much older he looked. It was weariness. The Maimed Magus was apparently no longer maimed physically, but the emotional and mental toll was still clear to her. He wasn't the bright-eyed, energetic kid she had hired decades ago. He was tired.

Before he could say or do anything else, Egnatia activated all five shards, dashed, and dragged Myrsvai's arm. She pivoted and tossed him into the Minolitana Prima portal. Myrsvai vanished immediately without looking the least bit worried.

Arms erupted from the familiar, but before Egnatia could think more about what that meant, she drew her sword and leapt into the whirling portal.

Veph walked out of the void nexus, breathing heavily. Her heart raced. It was done. It was finally done. After everything, she had done it. A smile turned her lips, then she laughed. She couldn't help it. A fit of laughter took over.

It might take a while, but Chorsay would finally come home. There was nothing tying him to the Hogs anymore. To that foolish hero company. She was all he had left, and he would finally come back.

Veph could finally have a family again.
