Legacy Of Altherion

20-Suppression

Princess Canavhri and her royal guardswomen extended their hands as they began chanting. Ahead of them, red light shone, elongating and growing as their chant progressed. After a few moments, the air shimmered and distorted as three large spears of flame scorched their surroundings.

"Perish." [Vur-Rok-Stal]

They fired the molten spears towards the giant at a blistering speed.

The spears separated, targeting different sections of the giant's enormous frame.

The giant plunged it's massive fist into the ground in an attempt to crush Nathan, he caught it's fist overhead, shattering the ground beneath him as he dispersed the force down his legs.

Due to their immense battle, the previously lush pasture around them was completely devastated. Numerous craters and fissures covered the area, many of which began affecting the settlement and its buildings.

Sensing the molten spears headed towards them, Nathan drove the giant's fist upwards with a powerful thrust, causing it to straighten it's posture. He leaped into the air towards it's face, striking an explosive front kick against it's forehead, which he immediately followed up with a series of thunderous punches.

The giant’s neck swayed greatly due to the immense force of the blows, causing it to stagger backwards unsteadily.

The giant could not recover its balance in time to adjust it’s footing, as a result, it failed to protect itself from the incoming molten spears.

Two of the spears pierced it's shoulders and exploded on impact, the third created a gaping hole in it's chest after exploding.

The giant collapsed onto it's back causing the entire area to shake violently.

Nathan re-joined the Princess and her guardswomen, who rushed towards him after launching their attacks.

The giant howled in agony. The smell of burning flesh wafted in the air as the pierced sections of it's body continued to blaze.

It got up onto it's knees and examined the hole in it's chest.

"It lives?… Even though it's heart has been incinerated!" Adole said.

"How can that be?" Melora said.

"The situation is more dire than that." Nathan said.

They glanced at him simultaneously.

"Take a look at it's wounds." he said.

When they turned their attention back to the giant, they gasped.

The flames were extinguished, new bone and muscle fibres sprouted from the charred flesh, rapidly forming connections, closing the wounds as though nothing happened.

"Regeneration!" Princess Canavhri said with widened eyes.

Nathan nodded. "Indeed.” he said. “I wonder...”

“What is it Darling?”

“Would the same apply to it’s head?”

“Let us confirm it together.” Princess Canavhri said.

The giant rose to its feet and roared menacingly.

It glared at them as it dug into the ground, removing an enormous rock.

“Here you go, Darling.” Princess Canavhri said, handing him the end of a thick vine.

She erected a barrier. “Bring it to its knees.”

The giant hurled the enormous rock at them with explosive force.

Nathan dashed without delay, causing the barrier to tremble.

A series of pillars rose from the ground ahead of him, creating a staircase of sorts.

He leaped from one pillar to another while spinning the vine in the air.

He launched the vine like a whip, it coiled around the rock, looping twice.

The moment Nathan reached the final pillar, Princess Canavhri severed her connection to the vine.

Nathan leaped off the tallest pillar and launched the rock like a slingshot. The rock barrelled into the giant’s knee, causing its leg to buckle.

Nathan flicked the vine behind him, launching it towards the tallest pillar.

Princess Canavhri created another platform below Nathan, allowing him to remove the top section of the pillar, and launch it at the giant’s other leg.

The ground shook as the giant fell on to it’s knees. Before it had time to react, hundreds of roots burst through the ground, coiling around its arms to restrain it.

The giant roared, flexing all of the muscles in its arms and torso in an attempt to break free.

Princess Canavhri conjured a water sphere around the giant’s head, submerging it up to its neck.

Multiple roots snapped as the giant thrashed around, struggling to breathe.

“Vhri.”

At Nathan’s command, Princess Canavhri froze the water, encasing the giant’s head in ice.

Nathan leaped off the platform and struck the ice sphere, shattering the giant’s head into thousands of tiny fragments.

The giant slumped forward and fell with a loud thud as the roots detached from its arms.

“Is it dead?” Melora said.

“Melora!” Adole said.

“What?” she said. “Do not tell me that you believe that superstition.”

Adole sighed.

They monitored the giant’s corpse for any signs of life, however, it remained motionless.

When Nathan heightened his sense to scrutinise the giant, he heard a faint rhythmic sound steadily gaining momentum.

‘Destroying it’s brain only delays regeneration...'

He glanced at Princess Canavhri then strolled towards the giant.

“Go to the settlement and provide aid, then send word to the Palace.” Princess Canavhri said, glancing at her royal guards.

The guardswomen turned towards her, opening their mouths to protest.

“Nyelekai and I are sufficient.” she said. “I will not repeat myself.”

“Yes, Princess.” they said in unison, then glanced at Nathan.

He nodded, understanding the meaning behind their gazes.

The guardswomen ran towards the settlement without looking back.

“Now, Darling, how are we going to dispose of this creature?”

“We need to get it into the forest before it awakens.”

“What a preposterous creature, how can it live without a head?” she said. “Do you have a plan?”

“I need another vine...a large one.”

He attached one end of the vine to the giant’s ankle, then placed the other over his shoulder, and dragged the giant towards the forest.

Princess Canavhri trailed behind them at a safe distance, monitoring the rate of its regeneration.

By the time they reached a suitable location, far from the settlement, the giant’s head regenerated completely.

"How are we going to defeat this creature?" Princess Canavhri said.

Nathan sighed. "It is troublesome. I hoped it's regeneration would cease with its brain being destroyed, however, it appears that there truly is no other way.” he said. “In order to truly defeat this creature, we have to reduce its entire body to ash.”

"What if we split the ground and allowed it to fall into an ocean of magma below?"

Nathan shook his head. "It is too dangerous, creating a chasm that enormous may cause trouble for the neighbouring populace. The best option would be to incinerate it with one attack.”

"I may have an idea. It requires a significant amount of time to prepare however, you would have to keep it occupied." she said after a brief pause.

Nathan smiled. “Reliable as ever.”

Princess Canavhri grinned. “Naturally, you should reward me later.”

The giant regained consciousness and surveyed the area, trying to locate Nathan and his party amongst the trees. It plunged it's fists into the ground repeatedly due to frustration, creating clouds of dust and debris.

Nathan jumped onto it's back and ran towards it's shoulders while it rampaged, he tightened his fist and punched the back of it's head. A deafening impact resounded and the giant collapsed.

A short while later, the giant regained consciousness. Nathan stood on its shoulders in anticipation, he crushed it's skull once again before it fully awakened.

"Vhri, how much longer?"

"Patience, Darling."

Pure white light gathered in the palm of her hand as she chanted, an intense pressure could be felt as the light condensed into a large orb. The orb pulsed rapidly, disrupting the air around it.

Nearly several minutes passed, Nathan Incapacitated the giant numerous times while waiting for the Princess to finish her preparation.

"Nyelekai, evacuate the area!"

Nathan nodded and ran towards her.

She sent the orb of highly compressed light energy towards the giant, it ascended to the height of fifty meters. The next moment, multiple slender rods shot out of the orb, they impaled the ground around the giant in a hexagonal pattern, extending ten meters on either side of the giant.

The twenty meter rods generated a pulse that resonated with the orb above, however the pulses were somewhat out of sync.

The giant regained consciousness and rose to it's feet, it attempted to remove one of the energized rods in order to move beyond them. The instant it's fingers touched the rod, they disintegrated.

A smaller rod descended from the orb and landed in the centre of the hexagon. The larger rods resonated with it, pulsating rapidly. Laser like beams fired from the top of each rod, connecting them to the one in the centre, forming a concave web of light.

Multiple beams piercing the giant’s waist, completely restricting it’s movement.

The orb descended towards the centre of the hexagon, it landed on the tip of the rod, the instant it made contact, the beams from the other rods ceased.

Princess Canavhri stopped her chant and opened her eyes, she whispered. [Solue-Ruuk]

The next moment, a colossal beam of pure white light towered hundreds of meters into the sky, encompassing the entire hexagonal boundary.

Princess Canavhri stumbled backwards due to exhaustion, Nathan caught her by the shoulders and allowed her to rest against his chest.

"Amazing." he said, admiring the tower of light.

The pure white light faded rapidly as the beam began to dissipate. It vanished in its entirety, revealing that the gigantic ashen creature was erased from existence.

"Vhri, when did you master this upper rank Eleon Art?"

She smiled. "Not quite, your mother is able to accomplish it in a fraction of the time.”

"Regardless, it is an impressive feat, we would not have been able to defeat the creature otherwise.”

"Indeed." she said with a mischievous smile.

She turned around facing him.

"Reward me!" she said, and proceeded to kiss him passionately.

A hooded figure knelt in the inner chamber of an ancient citadel. His body trembled, the atmosphere in the room was bone chilling, despite being lit by numerous torches and braziers.

His consciousness waned, a cloud of vapour obscured his vision as he sighed.

"Regrettably my Lord, I have to report that the experiment was a failure. The Chemeran achieved eighty percent of it's transformation, however, it did not retain any intellect beyond the pre-programmed commands to destroy." he said in a trembling voice.

"That is sufficient, it was merely a test." a deep voice echoed around the room.

"What shall we do now, my Lord?" the hooded figure said.

"I believe that it is time for introductions."

"Yes my Lord, I shall prepare a few Chemera for the journey."
