"Welcome all, for those who are unaware we are currently stationed outside of the British Ministry of Magic where the various Lords and Ladies of the Noble Houses have been arriving all morning as parliament is set to convene for this year's Wizengamot in as little as two hours.
Of course, there is particular excitement this year on account of the actions of one man in particular, a man that has divided the Wizarding community in twain, with some calling him a brilliant inventor and visionary while others label him as a dangerous narcissist with delusions of grandeur that pose a threat to the general public.
Of course, I am talking about Thane Fae Head of the Most Noble and Ancient House Fae and the CEO and founder of Fae Inc. who only three months ago took the Wizarding World by storm with the opening of Fae's Apothecary, which revolutionized the shopping experience of its customers along with ground-breaking and top secret herbology techniques greatly increasing the yield of all Fae ingredients.
However, less than two weeks ago, Fae Inc. announced its second venture partnering with Grigotts Bank to release two new highly practical enhanced artifacts that they promised would revolutionize the banking industry. However, flags were raised when Grigotts and Fae Inc. announced that the two artifacts used a form of soul recognition in order to identify the user.
The implementation of such a function violates the Minsitry's long-standing ruling forbidding the use of Soul Magic and experimenting with it. The ministry quickly prohibited the sale of these artifacts and produced a summons for Lord Fae to stand trial which is set to take place before Wizengamot as should Lord Fae be found guilty he risks imprisonment in Azkaban which would disqualify him a seat in the council," Rita explained, stood in front of a floating camera, though she was far from the only reporter set up in front of the Ministry, she wasn't even the only correspondent from the Daily Prophet. Rita couldn't remember the last time, Wizengamot had drawn so many public eyes, 'Probably not since the Wizarding War.'
Rita was lost in thought for a moment before she heard a spike in a background drone of constant noise and she looked over to see a near stampede of people and film equipment as they rushed to get a view of someone or something.
'He's here,' Rita thought and she felt her heart pound in anticipation as she quickly adjusted her dress making sure there wasn't a single wrinkle present. Once everything was in place Rita quickly joined the flood of reporters and managed to secure a spot just in time to watch a silver orb the size of a carriage lower down out of the sky and gently touch down on the earth. While entirely chrome, the metallic sphere was incredibly detailed and crafted to resemble a bundle of vines and branches tightly woven together. Dozens of camera flashes went off every second as those observing captured every possible angle of the strange orb only for it to come alive.
The seemingly lifelike silver vines and leaves revealed themselves to be real things as they retreated and unraveled to reveal Thane standing in the middle of the silver thicket. Instead of a set of traditional robes, Thane wore a dark green sherwani which was formal a long-sleeved outer coat worn by men in South Asia with a matching set of dress pants. Both pieces of clothing featured silver vine-like accents that also seemed real enough that the possibility of them coming alive was on everyone's mind.
The moment his visage was revealed the flashes never stopped and those taking the pictures started to call out hoping that Thane would look their way and give them a worthwhile picture.
But Rita watched Thane scan the crowd his eyes steely, passing over every single report until he met her expectant gaze. Rita couldn't help but blush slightly as she squeezed her hands together and fluttered her eyelashes. The corner of Thane's mouth lifted in a knowing smirk and he started to walk towards Rita.
However, before he could take even five steps two men rushed to impede Thane's path forward dressed in the unmistakable grey trench coats and ties of an auror.
Thane raised an eyebrow at the two men who blocked his path, "Is there a problem officers?"
The one on Thane's left took the lead stepping forward and speaking in a gruff voice, "We're here to escort you to the inner chamber for the trial Lord Fae."
"How kind of you, just give me a moment to speak to these lovely people who have been waiting so patiently-"
"I'm afraid that isn't possible Lord Fae," The other auror interrupted making Thane frown, "We are under explicit orders to escort you to the chamber without delay...for your own safety of course."
'They're playing hardball already...I certainly ruffled some feathers this time,' Thane thought though he kept a friendly smile on his face as he stared down the two Aurors, "While I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the Ministry I am more than capable of protecting myself so I'm afraid I'll have to refuse your offer. Now if you would kindly step aside."
Thane went to take another step forward only for the second Auror to join his companion moving to form a wall only a few feet in front of Thane growling, "I'm afraid that it wasn't an offer."
Thane's smile disappeared from his face and his hands fell in front of him one hand grabbing the back of the other as his stance widened, "That sounded like a threat officer."
"Doesn't matter you're still coming with us," The man on Thane's left replied with a snarl as he took a step forward and reached out with his hand clearly intent on grabbing Thane's shoulder.
'At least they can't say I tried to be diplomatic.' Thane snorted as he lifted his pointer finger. The action was minute, almost imperceivable, but what happened next everyone gathered around noticed and bore witness to.
Thane's aura billowed out like an invisible fog, rolling over the ground and expanding, filling the surrounding space and driving away anything that wasn't itself, replacing the breezy air with a suffocating presence a metaphysical manifestation of Thane's overbearing nature.
The Auror's hand froze inches away from Thane's shoulder. Being the closest one to him the officer suffered the full impact of Thane's presence, the man's face paled, and broke out into a cold sweat while his entire body trembled and shook. The only reason why the man hadn't passed out was most likely due to his training as an auror.
"What was that about me needing protection?" Thane asked haughtily as he stared into the auror's terrified eyes shrinking to the sizes of pinpoints, "You can't even stand next to me without losing yourself."
The auror's jaw was clenched so tight that Thane could hear the sound of his teeth grinding together almost threatening to break. Before that thought could come to fruition Thane's aura was suddenly pushed back, "I would have to agree with you there Lord Fae, these two are sorry excuses for Aurors."
Thane eye's turned to see who had spoken up only to find himself pleasantly surprised as he gazed at the unmistakable visage of the most famous auror to ever live, "Mr. Moody, as I live and breathe."
