Chapter 319: Vylyss?

Aldric frowned and walked toward the fissure, peering down below.

The sky above was gloomy, and within the fissure there was only darkness, dotted with faint, indistinct lights—he couldn't make out anything clearly.

Looking around, he saw nothing but a barren wasteland, fire burning here and there.

He lowered his head, then decided to descend into the fissure before him.

Aldric showed no fear. Drawing his spear, he leapt down.

As he fell, he swung the spear out, jabbing it into the cliff wall.

Clang!

A shrill metallic sound rang out, but the spearhead pierced the cliff as easily as if it were cutting into a sponge cake.

The spear slid down, slicing a long gash in the cliff. Sparks flew continuously as metal scraped against stone, filling the silence with an ear-splitting screech.

After a moment, Aldric seemed to sense something. He kicked off the cliff face, pulled his spear free, and leapt into the air.

He saw the ground not far below, so he quickly picked a spot to land.

It was as if gravity didn't affect him; despite falling from such a height, he landed as light as a feather.

"The scent of medicinal herbs is strong here." With his spear slung over his shoulder, Aldric eyed his surroundings warily.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, Aldric whipped his spear around, the blade carving out a crescent arc.

A tiny bee, only the size of a thumb, had its wings sliced off by the spear and slowly dropped to the ground.

Aldric shot the bee a wary glance, his expression even more alert.

"So… this really is the place where the Insect King and Insect Queen were sealed." He muttered under his breath.

Right then, a spiraling green whirlwind barreled toward him at incredible speed.

Aldric smirked, spinning his spear in a sweeping arc.

BAM!

The spear blade met the green drill head precisely, dispersing it into countless wisps of gentle wind that faded into the air.

"Huh! Trying to run, are you?" Aldric snorted in disdain and hurled his spear.

Whoosh!

A shrill, slicing wind tore through the air as the spear shot forth like an arrow loosed from a bow, streaking across the sky as a beam of light.

KRITTT!!!

A blood-curdling shriek rang out as a Killer Bee was skewered by the spear, then plummeted to the ground.

Aldric dashed after the falling bee like a gust of wind.

Suddenly, sensing danger, he swiftly drew the sword from his back and slashed forward.

Clang!

Metal clashed against metal.

He grinned as he faced a Mutated Killer Bee. The blade of his sword had been blocked by the bee's enormous stinger.

That stinger resembled a giant metal drill, capable of piercing through anything.

At the same time, countless pairs of eyes glowing green emerged around Aldric.

His smile grew wild with excitement. "You all arrived at just the right time! I've been wanting to see… just how strong I really am now."

"Come on!"

BAM! BAM! BAM!

In the distance, Noan suddenly heard a series of explosions. He immediately stood up, looking in the direction of the sound.

Vylyss, too, seemed startled, but she found herself unable to stand. It was as if a mountain were pressing down on her body.

"Vylyss!" Noan's heart leapt as he looked at her.

He was even more shocked to see that strange magical symbols now covered almost her entire body.

"What's going on? Vylyss, is this the curse magic you were afflicted with?" Noan urgently asked.

Vylyss panted, unable to speak—whether from weakness or from something else, it was impossible to tell. Her lips moved slightly, then… she lost consciousness.

"Vylyss! Vylyss!" Noan shook her shoulders, calling desperately, hoping she would wake up.

He immediately sent Void energy into her body, trying to destroy the curse magic.

Suddenly, the magic symbols peeled off her skin, forming a barrier that blocked his touch.

Noan frowned, his hand enveloped in Void energy, reaching slowly for that magical barrier.

BAM!

The instant his hand touched the barrier, a terrifying shockwave erupted, blasting him back more than ten meters.

"Tsk!" Noan clicked his tongue and immediately sprang to his feet.

But what happened next left him utterly stunned.

Vylyss floated in midair, her entire body covered in countless magical sigils.

Most striking of all, a gigantic magic circle had appeared above her head, radiating golden light.

"What the hell?!" Noan muttered in bewilderment, "What on earth is happening?"

Vylyss remained unconscious, yet her body slowly rose, as if being drawn up toward the massive magic circle above.

Without hesitation, Noan summoned the Abyss Cube, transforming it into a sword. He slashed forward.

Whoong!

A sound like ringing bells echoed out, accompanied by a beam of annihilating light shooting straight at the magic circle.

BAM!

The beam collided with the magic circle, producing a deafening explosion.

A shockwave burst forth, like a hurricane tearing through everything.

Noan was blasted backward by the force, hurled over a hundred meters away.

Yet he immediately activated space magic, teleporting back toward Vylyss.

He reached out for her.

"Damn it!" Noan growled, eyes blazing red, as if about to spit fire.

Ting!

The instant his fingers touched the magical runes encasing Vylyss, he suddenly… felt a pair of eyes watching him.

Yes, those eyes—terrifying, overflowing with murderous intent and hatred.

Noan stiffened, his whole body freezing for a split second.

And in that single moment, Vylyss was pulled up into the magic circle, vanishing completely.

Noan jolted, immediately lunging toward the circle, shouting, "Give her back to me!"

Whoong!

He swung his sword with all his might, sending out a blade of light that seemed to cut the entire space in two.

But the magic circle vanished, and Noan's attack became meaningless, serving only to momentarily illuminate the world around him.

Stunned, Noan could only watch as everything faded from his sight—including Vylyss.

Clenching his teeth, he activated his spatial ability once more.

Because he was always cautious, he had placed an "Anchor Point" on Vylyss.

But now, the anchor point didn't work.

That's right—he tried to sense the anchor he'd placed on Vylyss, but there was no signal at all.

He knew that even the anchor points he'd placed on Lylia or Noralia, no matter how far apart their worlds, he could still sense them. Even if he was in a different world and couldn't teleport to those anchor points, at the very least he could feel their presence.

But this time… he couldn't sense the anchor point on Vylyss at all.

It was as if she had vanished completely from existence.

"Damn it! Where on earth is she being taken?" Noan cursed under his breath.

He noticed the stone pillar in the distance and immediately dashed toward it.

But the script on the pillar was all in the language of the demon world, which he couldn't read or understand.

"Damn it! If only Malrik were here right now." Noan realized that, at this moment, Malrik's value was greater than ever.

Noan set an anchor point on the stone pillar, then teleported back to the cave.

He hurriedly searched for Elgar, hoping for a final shred of hope.

When he found Elgar, he explained everything. Elgar stroked his chin and sighed.

"I've just been here, focusing on concocting the perfect elixir. I know nothing about the script of the demon world," Elgar said, showing clear signs of fatigue.

Noan frowned, his eyes suddenly growing cold as if he had realized something.

Then Elgar continued, "However, it's not as if there's no way."

"I don't know where your Hero has been taken, but I think… it's part of the mission this world has given you."

"What do you mean?" Noan asked, frowning.

"As I said, all we have to do is hurry and complete the perfect elixir. Once we do, we might get a clue about her whereabouts."

Hearing this, Noan took a deep breath, trying to steady himself, and asked, "How can you be so sure that after concocting the perfect elixir, we'll find any clue about her?"

"You don't have any other choice, do you, young man?"
