Chapter 1235: Well, He kind of took over the Empire?
BOOM!!
She was punched straight through the wall, her body tearing through stone as cracks spread like spiderwebs across the palace walls. The force didn't just shatter one surface... it travelled through the structure itself, rumbling through the palace.
"Cough… cough…" Morgana hacked blood, red spattering from her lips and staining the fractured marble beneath her. She slid down slowly, her body trembling. When her head tilted upward, she saw Aether and Victor grinning at her, their silhouettes framed against the flicker of fire and ice.
Wait... shouldn't Aether have used ice, and Victor supposed to use Falmes?
Anyway,
Her face twitched with shock and disbelief, her blood-stained lips trembling. It was almost unbelievable.
H-How did they find her truth?
"Look at her…" Victor said slyly, his smirk widening as he walked toward her with casual steps, "She looks like she's asking how we figured it out."
Aether shrugged, his eyes narrowing with cold pity as he shook his head. "She already knows why… after all, isn't that right, Morgana?"
Morgana spat blood to the side, "I don't know what you're talking about," she growled, her voice hoarse but filled with venom.
"Still going on… are we?" Victor chuckled darkly. His body blurred, vanishing from where he stood and reappearing right beside her. His fist drove into her face with a thunderous crack.
BOOM!
"Arh!" she cried out, her body jolting sideways.
Aether appeared behind her instantly, his kick slamming into her back with brutal precision.
BOOM!
"Arh!" Morgana staggered forward, coughing blood again.
The two of them struck in unison, left and right, raining blow after blow upon her. Their fists crashed against her body like hammers, not giving her the slightest chance to recover. She struggled to draw her sword, to swing it, but even when she managed, their bare hands shattered the steel like fragile glass.
Crack!
Shards of her blade scattered across the floor.
BOOM!
At last, she was hurled backwards.... Dust rose, cracks splitting the walls around her. She fell to her knees, panting heavily, blood dripping down her chin, yet her glowing eyes still burned with hatred as she glared up at them.
Aether frowned slightly as he stepped closer... Something gnawed at the back of his mind.
But he couldn't make sense of it now!
They both stood before her now... Aether's purple flames burning at his palms, Victor's icy breath misting the air around him. Morgana was on her knees, broken, yet her stare was fierce enough to cut stone.
Aether shook his head, his tone laced with a pity that felt almost cruel.
"You see… I found something interesting. When a succubus and an incubus mate with other species… they don't just reek of sexual essence. Their bodies are built in a way that absorbs everything, as though it was never there at all."
Morgana's eyes widened in shock, her lips parting as if she were hearing this truth for the very first time.
"Surprised?" Aether nodded slightly, his voice steady. "Me too…"
He remembered it vividly... the night with Nightfire. No matter how much he came inside her, no matter how much he poured into her trembling body, everything vanished into her depths, swallowed whole like a void.
Her slit remained impossibly clean, as if nothing had ever touched her. Out of curiosity, he had even tasted her afterwards—licking the nectar of her body—and found only her sweetness, nothing else, nothing left behind.
At first, he thought maybe Nightfire had been starving too long, her body greedily devouring everything given to her. But then…
When he encountered others... succubi and incubi, he tortu-ahem-politely asked the truth, and they politely said the truth.
And every single one had confirmed it.
They absorbed the essence, and they never reeked of others.
Which led to the conclusion that Nightfire's words about this woman reeking of his scent… could only mean one thing.
She wasn't even a succubus.
This also explained why Dora never caught the scent from her directly. But still… didn't Dora swear that the smell was a succubus's?
If that was true, then it wasn't Morgana she sensed at all.
Something wasn't adding up.
Honestly, everything was half-baked words at best... loose threads, guesses strung together. Not solid facts, but a web of fragments, Aether was connecting by instinct.
He wasn't a hundred percent sure about his own words. He was only confirming everything by watching her reaction.
The only way to drag the truth out was to push her until she broke. To get it from the source herself.
Victor leaned closer, "Why bother hiding it? I mean… why?" His voice carried more curiosity than anger.
Morgana gritted her teeth, her jaw trembling before she forced a smirk onto her bloodied lips.
"Haha… do you really think you can escape from me? Even if you kill me here…" She jabbed a finger toward Aether with a furious glare, her voice shaking with venom and hatred,
"The people outside will kill him!"
"They will fucking kill you all!"
Aether froze, taken aback, his eyes widening in horror.
Morgana grinned at his shaken face, her fangs glistening red with blood. "What about this?" she hissed.
"Let me leave this place, and I will personally take care of the situation. I am the second in command… they will believe me more than you. More than either of you."
Victor glanced sidelong at Aether, his expression unreadable. The two seemed to be calculating, weighing something in silence.
Morgana smirked inwardly, confidence flickering back to life, 'Good… as long as I have their hesitation, as long as I—'
"Hehehe… HEHEHE!"
Victor's laughter split the silence, uncanny and sharp. His face twisted into something between mockery and wickedness as his smirk widened. He looked at her like a predator peeling away its prey's last hope.
"Sorry to break your happiness…" Victor said, "but the entire Void Empire is already against you. Against you and your Empress, right now."
"Huh?" Morgana's eyes widened, her voice cracking with disbelief.
Meanwhile—
Outside the shattered palace, the ground trembled under the cries of a hundred furious throats. Werewolves howled with rage, their fur bristling. Liches raised skeletal hands in defiance, eyes burning green fire. Harpies screamed from the skies.
Every small territory beast, every race bound under the Void Empire, shouted and screamed in fury.
"What's the meaning of this?!"
"Where is our Grace?!"
"What have you done to her?!"
Galen and others try to calm others.
Inside, Morgana's face drained of colour.
Victor leaned closer, his grin cutting like a knife. "Well… not exactly everyone," he admitted slyly, "but still, it was pretty easy to stir the flames, you know? After all…" His lips curled as he twisted the dagger of truth.
"People knew Grace and Mary hated each other, didn't they?"
His grin widened, and Morgana's face twisted from shock to horror.
