Kushina Uzumaki The Sage Of The Yuri Path

Chapter 34: The Hokage’s Growing Suspicion

The atmosphere inside the Hokage's office was tense. The large circular table at the center of the room was occupied by Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, flanked by his senior advisors, Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane. On the opposite side sat Danzo Shimura, his fingers tapping impatiently against his cane. Two ANBU captains stood at attention nearby, their faces hidden behind porcelain masks.

A sealed scroll lay on the table, its contents already known to the room's occupants.

Silence stretched for several long seconds before Danzo finally spoke, his voice filled with frustration. "This… farce has gone on long enough."

Hiruzen exhaled a cloud of smoke from his pipe. "Farce, you say?" He tapped the scroll lightly. "I think what happened to Kumo is very real."

Danzo's visible eye twitched. "Kumo, one of the five great nations, was utterly humiliated. By a child. A female child."

One of the ANBU captains coughed slightly, but quickly composed himself.

Danzo gritted his teeth. "And to make matters worse, she called herself the Yuri Knight."

The room was silent for a beat before Homura cleared his throat. "Yes, well, that does seem… unorthodox."

Koharu nodded sagely. "We have never had a ninja take on such a title before."

Hiruzen fought the urge to chuckle, hiding his amusement behind another puff of his pipe. "I agree. The name is certainly… unique."

Danzo's face darkened further. "Unique?! This is a disaster! A phantom kunoichi with unknown abilities just shamed an entire squad of elite shinobi and sent them back to their Kage in disgrace!" He slammed his cane against the floor. "And worse, she did it without killing a single one of them."

Hiruzen glanced at the intelligence report. "So, let's summarize: A mysterious kunoichi, roughly four or five years old, intervened in Kumo's attempt to capture the Hyūga heiress. She fought using advanced sealing techniques, but her chakra chains were unlike anything documented before. The squad leader, Hoshikawa, claimed the chains held an energy he had never encountered."

He tapped the parchment. "They described it as… 'serene.'"

Danzo leaned forward sharply, his gaze intense. "That's the part that concerns me the most. If this kunoichi is using unknown sealing techniques, we must assume she is either an Uzumaki remnant or worse—someone who has inherited secrets from Uzushio."

Koharu folded her hands together. "But didn't the entire Uzumaki clan perish?"

Danzo scoffed. "That's what we were led to believe."

Hiruzen stroked his beard, deep in thought. "The girl returned Hinata unharmed. That alone tells me she is not our enemy."

Danzo's eye twitched again. "She is not an ally either. A shinobi with abilities that powerful, who operates in the shadows, who openly challenges an entire Hidden Village, is a wild card—one we cannot afford."

One of the ANBU captains shifted slightly. "Sir, if I may…"

Hiruzen nodded. "Speak."

The ANBU hesitated before stepping forward. "While her combat ability is concerning, the intelligence reports do not suggest she is hostile toward Konoha. If anything, her actions protected our interests. She stopped Kumo from taking one of our own."

Danzo scoffed. "You call humiliating an entire shinobi squad in the most theatrical way possible 'protecting our interests'?"

The ANBU nodded. "In a way… yes."

Danzo's fingers twitched on his cane, and he slowly turned toward the masked man. "Then tell me, ANBU, do you also believe in this 'Yuri Knight's' noble mission?" His voice dripped with sarcasm.

The ANBU hesitated. "Well… I wouldn't say noble, but…" He coughed awkwardly. "My wife has started referring to her as a… hero."

Silence.

Danzo froze mid-breath, his visible eye narrowing dangerously. "Excuse me?"

The ANBU cleared his throat. "It's not just my wife, Lord Danzo. Many of the village's kunoichi, housewives, and even some young shinobi have started talking about her. They… admire her actions."

Danzo's cane snapped the floorboards beneath him. "You mean to tell me that this—this child with a ridiculous title—is being treated like a legendary figure in our own village?!"

The second ANBU, unable to stop himself, added, "It might also be because… of 'Yuri Paradise.'"

Danzo turned his head so slowly it could have been a horror movie moment.

"What," he hissed, "does that trashy book series have to do with this?"

The first ANBU hesitated. "There's… speculation that the Yuri Knight might be connected to Sayuri Arata, the author of 'The Yuri Paradise book series.'"

Danzo's eye twitched so violently it could generate a small earthquake.

Hiruzen couldn't take it anymore. He let out a deep chuckle, exhaling smoke as he leaned back. "Well, well… I must admit, I did not expect literature to become a national security discussion today."

Homura looked thoughtful. "Now that I think about it… I believe my niece is rather fond of those books as well."

Koharu cleared her throat, adjusting her robes. "They… are quite well written."

Danzo's face slowly turned red.

"Koharu," he growled, "are you telling me that you—one of Konoha's elder council members—are reading that filth?"

Koharu did not flinch. "It is surprisingly insightful about female relationships from what i hear, at least."

Danzo looked like he was about to have a stroke.

"You… YOU'VE BEEN BRAINWASHED TOO?!"

The second ANBU, trying to be helpful, said, "Well, sir, I wouldn't say brainwashed. It's just that… a lot of people in the village really like the books."

The first ANBU muttered under his breath, "My wife hasn't spoken to me in days because she's too busy reading them…"

Danzo clutched his chest like he was having a heart attack.

Hiruzen, calm as ever, blew out another cloud of smoke. "Fascinating. It appears that Sayuri Arata's influence is greater than we realized."

Danzo slammed his fist on the table. "THIS IS AN ATTACK ON THE VERY FABRIC OF OUR SOCIETY!"

Homura adjusted his glasses. "Danzo, I think you are overreacting."

Danzo whirled on him. "OVERREACTING? Do you understand what's happening?! The future generation of Konoha shinobi are being raised on ideas of female relationships and rogue kunoichi humiliating men in battle! This is dangerous!"

Hiruzen finally decided to step in.

"Enough," he said, his voice firm but measured. "This Yuri Knight, whoever she is, does not appear to be a direct threat to Konoha. However, we cannot ignore her growing influence."

Danzo gritted his teeth. "Then what do you propose?"

Hiruzen tapped his pipe against the table. "I will meet Sayuri Arata personally and learn her intentions with that book series of her."

The room went still.

Danzo narrowed his eye. "You think she knows the Yuri Knight?"

Hiruzen smiled slightly. "At the very least… I suspect she knows more than she lets on." He exhaled softly. "And I'd like to have a conversation."

After everyone had left, Hiruzen gazed out the window with the air of a wise sage—rather than the closet pervert who secretly enjoyed peeping on women. With a contemplative expression, he stroked his beard and spoke in a voice that carried the weight of experience and wisdom… or at least, that's what he wanted people to believe.

"Whoever you are… you've certainly made an impression I can not allow you to ruin the morals of my carefully indoctrinated ninjas."

Suddenly, the third Hokage shuddered. Did he just admit that out loud. Looking around, Hiruzen breathed a sigh of relief. At least no one heard that.
