Chapter 56: Kai and Po going into the Spirit Realm
Kai's fists crashed down, splitting the ground as Po dodged at the last second, flipping backward onto a shattered pillar. The bull snorted, his glowing jade eyes locked onto Po, frustration leaking into his stance.
"You fight well, Emperor," Kai growled, rolling his shoulders as his chains coiled around his arms like living serpents. "But you waste time."
Po grinned. "Nah, just having fun."
Kai stomped forward, his jade aura flaring—only for Po to vanish in a blur.
A flicker of motion—
A golden palm strike to Kai's gut.
BOOM!
Kai was sent skidding back, the sheer force tearing through his armor.
He coughed, glaring. "Cheap tricks—"
Po tilted his head. "Oh, you haven't seen a trick yet."
Kai growled, about to charge again, but then—
The air shifted.
The sky above rippled.
Kai's eyes widened as the world around him… changed.
The wasteland faded.
The colors of the mortal realm vanished into an endless swirl of gold and green.
And suddenly, the two warriors stood in an endless, starry expanse.
The Spirit Realm.
Kai stumbled back, his hooves scraping against the ethereal ground. His jade aura flared wildly, unstable.
Po stood across from him, hands behind his back, his blindfolded face calm.
Kai snarled. "What have you done?"
Po shrugged. "I dunno. Maybe you walked into a portal."
Kai realized too late—Po had baited him.
Every strike, every movement, every counter Po had done was leading to this.
This wasn't just a fight.
It was a trap.
Po took a deep breath.
For the first time since his ascent to Emperor, he let go of his self-imposed restrictions.
His Chi exploded outward—
Golden light flooded the realm, washing over everything like a divine sun.
It was not just gold.
Swirling red surged through the energy—the aura of destruction, crackling with uncontained power.
A deep, haunting purple danced alongside it—the aura of death, cold and infinite.
The Spirit Realm trembled under his presence.
Po's blindfold burned away, revealing glowing eyes of pure light.
Kai staggered.
He had taken down Oogway.
He had consumed the Chi of countless masters.
But this…
This was something beyond him.
Po stretched his hand forward.
Darkness pooled beneath him, tendrils rising, swirling, forming into a shape.
From the abyss, a towering figure emerged.
A figure clad in jet-black armor, his eyes glowing like embers, his form radiating an ancient, unstoppable power.
Ashborn.
The First Shadow Monarch.
And now—Po's personal warrior.
Po smirked. "I thought you'd enjoy a rematch against a real monarch."
Ashborn knelt before Po for a brief second, then stood tall, turning to Kai.
Kai gritted his teeth.
"I don't care how many warriors you summon," he snarled, summoning his jade chains. "I AM KAI! AND I—"
Po snapped his fingers.
Ashborn vanished.
Then—
A FIST CRASHED INTO KAI'S FACE.
BOOM!
Kai was sent flying across the realm, his body bouncing off golden energy like a ragdoll.
Po grinned.
The fight wasn't over.
Kai crashed through the ethereal ground, tumbling in an uncontrolled spiral before smashing into a floating jade pillar. The Spirit Realm rippled from the sheer impact.
"HRAAAAGH!" The bull roared, pushing himself up, his jade chains slamming into the ground like whips. His glowing green eyes locked onto Ashborn, who stood motionless, calm, disciplined, perfect.
Kai wiped his muzzle, where black ichor-like blood dripped. His fury burned.
"Enough of your toys, Emperor!" Kai bellowed, his muscles tensing, the green Chi around him growing into a storm of rage. "Fight me yourself!"
Po smirked, rolling his shoulders. "Oh, don't worry, big guy. I was just getting warmed up."
Then, Po vanished.
BOOM.
Kai had no time to react.
A fist hit his ribs, bending the air with thunderous force. His body lurched to the side, barely keeping balance before another strike slammed into his back, sending him hurtling forward.
He tried to turn—
Too slow.
A knee collided with his chest, knocking the wind out of him.
Then—Po's palm came crashing down.
CRACK!
Kai hit the ground with earth-shattering force, his whole body sinking into the spiritual terrain.
For the first time in centuries—he felt pain.
His head snapped up, pure rage on his face. He swung his chains in a wide arc—
Po caught them.
With two fingers.
Kai's eyes widened.
Po tugged.
Kai was yanked off his feet, his massive body soaring through the air uncontrollably—
Then Po spun, swinging Kai around like a whirlwind, before releasing him.
The bull soared across the Spirit Realm and crashed through five floating islands before finally slamming into a mountain of jade.
A massive cloud of dust and energy exploded outward.
Po cracked his knuckles. "Huh. That was easier than I thought."
For a moment, there was silence.
Then—
The mountain exploded.
Green Chi flooded the sky, tendrils of energy lashing out violently. The entire Spirit Realm trembled.
Po raised an eyebrow. "Oh? That wasn't enough? Neat."
From the dust, Kai emerged.
His jade armor was cracked, his chains damaged, but his rage?
Burning.
"You… WORTHLESS… PANDA!" Kai roared, his voice shaking the heavens. "I AM KAI! I HAVE DEFEATED LEGENDS! I HAVE STOLEN THE CHI OF MASTERS! I AM A GOD!"
Po yawned. "Cool. Want a cookie?"
Kai's anger peaked.
He raised his arms—his entire form glowing.
The jade chains burst apart, transforming into thousands of spectral blades. They surrounded him, forming a floating storm of destruction.
Po's grin widened. "Oooooh, now we're talking."
Kai swung his arms down.
The sky rained blades.
Po leaped, dodging the first wave, but the onslaught didn't stop.
Hundreds—no, thousands—of glowing jade weapons poured down like a hurricane, each one carrying enough force to shatter mountains.
Po flowed between them, his movements flawless. His footwork was so perfect, he barely moved an inch more than necessary.
Then, he counterattacked.
With a single step, he blurred forward.
Kai swung a gigantic war axe—Po caught it with one hand.
Kai gasped.
Po gripped tighter.
CRACK.
The war axe shattered into dust.
Before Kai could react, Po struck.
A palm to the gut.
A fist to the chest.
An elbow to the jaw.
Each hit landed with the force of an earthquake, the very realm bending under the pressure.
Kai's body recoiled, his stance failing. His mind screamed—how? How was this panda doing this?
Po grabbed his arm.
With a single mighty motion, Po flipped Kai over his shoulder and sent him hurtling into the ground.
The impact was so great, the Spirit Realm itself cracked.
Kai coughed, barely able to move. His body—a wreck.
Po slowly walked forward.
He lifted a single hand.
A swirling mass of gold, red, and purple Chi gathered in his palm—the energy of creation, destruction, and death intertwined.
"Kai," Po said casually, "you ever hear of a move called the Buddha's Palm?"
Kai snarled, weakly lifting his hand.
Po sighed.
Then—
He brought his palm down.
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A wave of golden light engulfed Kai, shattering his very essence—his stolen Chi torn from him, returning to the Spirit Realm.
Kai screamed.
His body glowed, crumbling into jade dust.
The final echoes of his roar faded into nothing.
And then—silence.
Po exhaled. The fight was over.
He dusted off his robes. "Welp, that was fun."
A faint breeze passed through the realm.
Po looked up—the spirit of Oogway was watching, smiling.
Po grinned back. "Took care of your old buddy for ya."
Oogway simply chuckled.
The Dragon Emperor had triumphed.
Again.
