Chapter 87: Chapter 87
The battle had already begun.
"Move! Use Ninjutsu!" someone shouted.
"Fire Style!" another voice echoed.
In the midst of the chaos, Tetsuya Fujiwara's hands formed seals at an astonishing speed, completing four seals in a single second. If he pushed himself, he could reach five. At this altitude, his movements were swift and decisive. Compared to the sluggish pace of his opponents, who could barely manage two seals per second, Tetsuya's speed was nothing short of overwhelming.
Their panic was evident. As the small squad before him scrambled, Tetsuya casually picked up a few stones. With a flick of his wrist, the stones shot out like bullets, striking the wrists of his opponents with precision. The sharp cracks echoed as their attempts to weave seals were immediately disrupted, their plans to delay him with ninjutsu thoroughly foiled.
"As I thought," Tetsuya said, his voice calm but tinged with disappointment. "Sending you all back to the Academy for a few more months of training was the right call. Otherwise, the Hokage and your future Jonin instructors would have had their hands full with you."
He glanced over the disorganized group. Their lack of coordination was glaringly obvious, though he couldn't entirely blame them. Their training environment had clearly been lacking.
Just as Tetsuya sighed and turned his attention to the unconscious bodies at his feet, a shadow darted towards him.
"Shadow Imitation Technique!"
Nara Shikaku, accompanied by Nara Suzaku, Yamanaka Inoichi, and Akimichi Choza, formed a tight-knit battle unit and flanked him from all sides. The classic Ino-Shika-Cho formation, a trademark of their clans, was executed with precision.
"Impressive timing," Tetsuya muttered as he noticed the advancing shadows slithering toward him.
Without hesitation, he used the Body Flicker Technique to evade the assault. Even with his current strength, getting caught in the Nara Clan's Shadow Imitation would be a headache he preferred to avoid.
"Mind Transfer Jutsu!"
Inoichi's voice rang out as Tetsuya landed. The timing was impeccable; it seemed Shikaku had predicted where he would appear. The moment Tetsuya looked up, his gaze locked onto Inoichi's, and his body froze as the Yamanaka Clan's secret technique hit its mark.
"Did we get him?" Shikaku asked, his voice calm but wary. He and Suzaku kept their guard up, watching Tetsuya's limp posture with hawk-like focus.
"Shikaku, it's done! We succeeded!" Inoichi's voice now came from Tetsuya's lips, his tone jubilant.
"Great work, Inoichi! We did it!" Shikaku exclaimed, his usual stoicism breaking for a moment. Suzaku nodded in agreement, his tension easing. "Tetsuya must have let his guard down."
The surrounding students, who had been scattered across the training ground, began to gather around. Seeing Tetsuya's subdued form, their confidence surged.
"Is this really the so-called genius of the Fujiwara Clan?" one student muttered, the corners of their lips curling into a smirk. "So much for the Chunin Exam's top candidate."
Just as a few bold students moved closer, eager to leave a mark on Tetsuya's immobilized body, he suddenly took two steps forward. Stretching lazily, he turned his gaze toward Shikaku and Suzaku, a playful glint in his eyes.
"The Yamanaka Clan's secret technique is certainly fascinating," Tetsuya remarked, his tone tinged with genuine admiration. "If my will hadn't been strong enough, I might have actually fallen for it."
Inoichi stumbled back, clutching his head as the backlash of his failed jutsu hit him. Before he could collapse, Shikaku caught him, gently lowering him to the ground. Meeting Tetsuya's amused gaze, Shikaku sighed. "This guy… What a troublesome opponent."
Tetsuya smirked. "Hunting season begins now."
Without another word, he vanished, reappearing among the nearest group of unlucky students.
"Lightning Style: Ground Pulse!"
A wave of electricity surged through the ground, crackling like an unrelenting storm. Though it was merely a C-rank jutsu, its wide area of effect made it ideal for dealing with a crowd. In an instant, two entire squads of upperclassmen crumpled to the ground, their cries of pain silenced as they lost consciousness.
"Don't give him any room to move!" a voice roared. "All those skilled in taijutsu, form a perimeter! Those who can use ninjutsu, focus your attacks together!"
The voice belonged to a member of the Senju Clan, who quickly rallied the remaining students. Within moments, students from prominent clans—Senju, Uchiha, Hyuga, Shimura, and Hatake—banded together, their combined presence forming a formidable force.
"Taijutsu, is it?" Tetsuya muttered, his gaze scanning the advancing crowd. "Admittedly, it's my weakest area. But that only matters if you're strong enough to exploit it."
The first wave of attackers lunged at him. Though their movements were earnest, they lacked the killing intent necessary to truly challenge him. Tetsuya easily sidestepped their strikes, countering with precise, calculated blows. Within seconds, the would-be brawlers lay sprawled on the ground, groaning in pain.
Their failed assault left the remaining students scrambling to unleash their ninjutsu, but Tetsuya's relentless pace left no room for them to coordinate. In less than a minute, their ranks were further thinned.
Tetsuya's gaze shifted toward the group still preparing their jutsu. He chuckled lightly. "It seems you're ready for the next round. Fine, I'll give you a chance."
He stepped into an open area, away from the fallen students. Raising his hands, he formed a seal.
"Water Style: Water Prison Technique!"
A thick dome of water encased him, rippling like a barrier of liquid steel. Tetsuya stood within it, his expression calm but challenging.
"This is your one shot," he called out, his voice echoing through the training ground. "Break through this barrier and defeat me. Otherwise, this graduation exam ends now."
The students' anger flared. "You arrogant bastard! We'll smash that water prison and take you down!" one of them shouted.
Tetsuya's smirk widened as he watched their frenzied determination. "Come on, then," he muttered, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
The clash continued, but the outcome was already decided in Tetsuya's mind. No matter how fierce their resolve, they were simply too inexperienced to pose a real threat. For him, this was nothing more than a test of their potential—and his patience.
