Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Post-War Summary: "Lack Of Blue!"
After finishing a ramen meal with Naruto and Sakura, Kakashi looked at his empty wallet with tears streaming down his face. He never anticipated that Naruto would have such an enormous appetite, which left him nearly broke. Regretting his decision to treat them to ramen, Kakashi bid farewell to Naruto and made his way to the Hokage's office, where Hiruzen was resting after finishing some tasks.
Hiruzen welcomed Kakashi into his office, in a surprisingly good mood. He expressed his excitement about discovering such an exceptional genius like Sasuke, acknowledging that despite his Uchiha lineage, Sasuke seemed like a good kid with great potential. The Hokage saw Sasuke as a small sapling that could grow into a towering tree for Konoha. Kakashi, expecting a reprimand, was taken aback by Hiruzen's positive response.
Apologizing for not using his Lightning Style to force Sasuke's attendance earlier, Kakashi was met with understanding from Hiruzen. The Hokage assured Kakashi that he would have opportunities to demonstrate his Lightning Style in the future. Kakashi was relieved by Hiruzen's change in attitude, as the Hokage had previously considered killing Sasuke if he showed any signs of betrayal. Now, it seemed that Hiruzen had full faith in Sasuke's potential.
Hiruzen expressed his hope that both Naruto and Sasuke would inherit the will of fire, which Kakashi understood to be a form of brainwashing. Meanwhile, Sasuke was at home feeling melancholic, contemplating how to utilize his reward to improve his ninjutsu skills. He reviewed his current template data and discovered that he had made significant progress in taijutsu during his recent training with Kakashi.
Sasuke pondered which ninjutsu he should enhance with the reward. Although he was tempted to improve his Great Fireball Technique, practicality led him to choose Lightning Style. Despite his initial disappointment, Sasuke realized that the Lightning Style improvement would be more beneficial to his overall abilities. With the reward, Sasuke successfully increased the proficiency level of his Lightning Style to Super Speed.
Feeling a difference in his body, Sasuke found that he possessed muscle memory and an innate understanding of chakra flow and body coordination. This allowed him to perform the Lightning Style with greater speed, stability, and reduced chakra consumption. Sasuke also noted that his chakra endurance had increased, and he felt more confident in battle.
Sasuke acknowledged the power of the reward but quickly dismissed the idea of relying on such rewards for progress. He believed in his own talent and the need to work hard to become stronger. Additionally, he saw the value in building his strength gradually to develop a solid foundation. Sasuke realized that he had been given a perfect talent by the system and didn't want to waste it by taking shortcuts.
Understanding the need for more chakra, Sasuke decided to focus on increasing his chakra reserves. The recent battle had depleted a significant portion of his chakra, especially when using multiple Fire Style techniques. He recognized that his current chakra capacity was insufficient, and having more chakra would greatly enhance his abilities.
With determination, Sasuke resolved to continue his training and strive to become even stronger. He was grateful for the rewards he had received but knew that true strength came from his own efforts and dedication. Sasuke understood that relying solely on rewards would undermine his growth as a shinobi.
