Chapter 390: The Knight's Return (Part 3)
The abrupt words left Olivia momentarily stunned, but she immediately understood her lover's intention and cooperatively lifted the heavy holy sword sideways.
The demon rune on the back of her hand glowed brightly, and Olivia silently experienced the connection with the Ancestor's Blade, sinking into memories of that dream of destiny... Her golden eyes gradually aligned with a future she had yet to tread upon.
Leon dared not hesitate any longer, preparing himself as he unfurled his light wings and flew out of the Forbidden Demon Domain, plunging into the frozen time and space created by Valary.
The magic barrier surrounding him resisted for only a moment before being crushed by the immense magic within the Crystal Maze, freezing Leon's stance as he carried the magic gun in midair where all things stood still.
There was no concept of time in the field, and in the following moment within the domain, Valary's giant scythe instantly arrived.
Yet this was the moment they were waiting for!
At the instant the demon manifested, a dark spherical vortex suddenly erupted around Leon.
The lightless fissure was torn open by the power of the Star Soul, just like on the night when the Star Soul "captured" Leon, creating a temporal rift that increasingly connected two planes. But this time, it was not blood magic tendrils that reached out from the vortex but countless blue arms and tendrils.
Kleinian's power entangled Valary's demon body, forcibly extracting it from the shadows of the spell, bit by bit pulling toward the tunnel vortex.
The Great Demon twisted the scythe, slicing through the deep blue projections and instantly understood their intention... six wings vibrated, slicing through the Kleinian phantoms binding itself like knife edges.
In the motionless demon domain, where there was neither fast nor slow, the blinding brilliance of the Flame Sun accompanied Olivia's movement, shining ahead.
"Gaze upon me, my Sun!"
The girl's howl accompanied by the raised shining blade descended.
Ancient proverbs, accompanied by a photon torrent powerful enough to penetrate a mountain, roared toward the demon's body.
"——No way!!" The Fallen Mage, in horrifying shock, folded an arm towards his back, attempting to summon a barrier. But the newly formed magic technique was immediately infiltrated and dissolved by the Light of Demonic Break.
At this moment, the fear instilled by the Flame Sun Guard finally returned to Valary's mind.
The demon body attempted to vanish into nothingness, but Kleinian's countless arms held him tightly, preventing any escape.
Valary endured the photon cannon strike from the Star Core Blade, his body being annihilated and regenerating ceaselessly, forcing him painfully toward the passage torn by the Star Soul, half of his body already within.
The demon's arms suddenly lashed out, like crystal chains drilling into the Crystal Land to anchor himself, attempting to resist the pull.
Leon, however, as Olivia's domain enveloped the scene, burst out of the vortex fiercely, thrusting the magic gun into the demon's chest, his heavenly wings powering and jetting light, all to drag the demon into the passage.
In his realm, he stood no chance of defeating Valary, nearly invincible and immortal as Spirit Realm Demons were, especially these fallen ones named for their immortality.
But as long as they could drag Valary's true body into their plane, exposing him unprepared under Mosela's supreme radiance, they could force him to lose his overwhelming mana.
However, in the midst of the struggle, Leon realized he underestimated Valary's strength. In the clash, the magical repulsion of the six demon wings was far beyond what his ancient Magic Sky Wings could counteract.
As the holy sword's light stream striking the demon's back increasingly weakened, with the three-headed demon at close quarters chanting spells for a counterattack, Leon had to prepare to dodge, thinking this strategy would fail at the last moment.
——Six substantial crimson tendrils suddenly shot out from the vortex rift, sweeping past Leon's body, tightly entwining Valary's demon body.
The enormous blood tendrils locked Valary's head in the center, trapping his surprise and curses in his mind, while the rest of the tendrils coiled around the Great Demon's many limbs, sharp barbs piercing into them.
"... Let me repay your betrayal properly, you arrogant scum....."
A laugh seemed to rise from the Abyss as Squash's tendrils suddenly exerted strength, snapping Valary's crystal anchor chain, dragging both the unwillingly struggling Pride Demon and Leon into the Gate of Darkness.
The domain cloaking the Crystal Maze collapsed instantly, and the vast mana that could no longer be maintained tore the ground apart.
In the last moment as the dark passage vanished, Olivia leaped swiftly into it....
A sensation of falling struck, followed by familiar weightlessness, tumbling toward the pull from the other end, traversing the void through a dim rainbow passage, Olivia glanced at a direction that seemed both ahead and downwards.
Leon, jetting light from his wings, appeared like a blue comet, wielding Garner to suppress the struggling demon.
The Blood Demon's tendrils stretching from the void grew more obscure, but Valary's massive body continued to burn; the closer to the crystal veil below that obscured everything, the more his form shrank, gradually becoming the size of an ordinary person.
The crystal veil enlarged in Olivia's vision, growing nearer and nearer.....
Until a faint booming sound reached her ears——
Boom!
The pillar of light descended from the emptiness, creating turbulent air currents within the shattered hall.
Gripping the magic gun backward, Leon pinned the increasingly weakened Valary to the ground, his ears filling with the intense battle cries, causing him to look around.
Dim light spilled through the fractured palace dome, where knights—living and dead—were engaged in a bloody struggle in the expansive mountain hall below the altar-like stairs.
The impact suspected of being siege engines caused the surrounding debris to quake as if the massive artificial structure was on the verge of collapse.
The dragon's roar and the griffin's screech echoed from the collapsing top, shadows of fighting beasts brushing past swiftly, and Leon only needed an instant to discern the sound of the Death Claw.
He was back; this wasn't Kleinian.
He was on the Omlos Continent.
However, he also noticed at this moment, that in the sky outside, there seemed to be more than one battling Griffin.
"My lord!"
Kovis's voice caused Leon to turn to the fore.
The young knight, whose armor was shattered, was slowly fading in the magical glow, his splendid blonde hair smeared with blood, looking as ragged as himself and Olivia.
Before he could respond, the sudden uplift from below startled Leon.
He dodged the scythe and magic wand, which had also shrunken considerably like the demon, and aimed his gun, focusing on the roaring six-winged demon crawling from the ground.
With this movement, Leon realized the divine power that once filled him and the myriad voices that assaulted his mind had vanished completely.
Catching a glimpse of the light wings behind him, their azure color had returned to their original white glow, and the rapid depletion of magic power within him was now palpable.
Kleinian's power was gone, and he had reverted to a mortal state.
