Michael followed up by saying, "Of course, I was joking. Actually, if you really want to thank me, how about doing me a favor?"

"Sure! Just say it!"

"Tony should still have quite a few Iron Man suits, and they can be controlled remotely, right? As you can see, I'm working on something here and want to speed up the process, but I don't have enough manpower, so..."

"I'll talk to him!" Pepper responded quickly.

"Thank you very much. If he doesn't agree, that's fine. I'll find another way."

"Wait for my news!"

After saying this, Pepper put on her Iron Man suit, and with a loud whoosh, she took off into the air.

Michael silently released an energy shield to protect himself from the kickback of her sudden launch, muttering, "It seems that whether it's a car or an Iron Man suit, female drivers can be pretty scary..."

"BOSS, the dark elf said the technology on the spaceship is at least hundreds of years ahead of Earth's. Unless we completely disassemble it, there's no need to worry about anyone stealing the tech!" Sarah approached Michael and whispered.

Michael nodded. Since Pepper had gone to Tony for help, if Tony agreed to mobilize the Iron Legion, the project here could indeed move much faster. But he didn't think Tony would agree, at least not without conditions.

Since the dark elf said the spacecraft's technology wasn't easy to reverse-engineer, Michael thought he might be able to use this as leverage with Tony. Now, it was just a matter of waiting to see if Pepper had any news.

Turning back to the task at hand, Michael went over to help out. He summoned an excavator with a thought and began operating it. At the same time, he used his telekinesis to move materials. With his assistance, the work progressed quickly. Michael's powers allowed him to convert objects into whatever he needed, significantly improving efficiency.

As night began to fall, the workers wrapped up for the day. Since this was a long-term project, living arrangements were made for the workers on the island, with ample food and supplies. After all, it wasn't easy finding workers willing to stay on a site involving alien technology, mutants, and people with superpowers.

Michael himself wasn't widely known among regular civilians, not like Iron Man or Captain America. So, Sarah and her team had to make a lot of arrangements to keep the workers comfortable and at ease.

With no intention of leaving, Michael returned to his quarters on the spaceship to rest. Not long after he settled in, he heard a knock on the door. Sarah entered, carrying several takeout containers.

"Chinese food? Did you go out of your way to get this?" Michael asked, surprised. Although there were supplies on the island, they didn't include Chinese cuisine.

Sarah nodded, "Yeah, I didn't know what you liked, Boss, so I thought Chinese food might be okay?"

"Of course! Thanks for going out of your way." Michael smiled as he opened the containers.

"Well, BOSS, enjoy your meal. I'll take my leave." Sarah turned to go, moving too quickly for Michael to ask her to join him. As she left, Michael thought about how dedicated and hardworking she was. Having such a diligent assistant was indeed a blessing, especially with her striking looks.

Chinese food is popular worldwide, though often adapted to local tastes, losing some of its authenticity. Michael ate just enough to fill his stomach, then prepared to continue absorbing ether particles. If he could fully harness the ether particles, building the base would become much easier. After all, the Aether—or Reality Stone—had the power to reshape matter; with full mastery, he could create a base from thin air.

But he wasn't there yet.

Just as he was about to begin, he heard another knock on the door. Sarah entered once more, stepping aside to reveal a familiar figure behind her.

Pepper.

"You're here? I take it things didn't go smoothly?" Michael asked, noticing Pepper's apologetic, slightly irritated expression. He had already guessed her attempt to get Tony's help might not have gone as planned.

Sarah excused herself, and Pepper stepped forward, "I'm sorry, Michael. I thought Tony would be on board, but he's being difficult as usual. We argued, and I've had enough of his attitude. I'm his assistant, not his babysitter."

Tony's character wasn't easy to handle.

"That's alright. I told you, there's really no need to go to all that trouble just to thank me." Michael replied reassuringly.

Pepper shook her head, "I actually quit. If you don't mind, I'd like to stay here and help."

"Oh?"

Their argument must have been pretty intense for Pepper to walk away like that. Pepper's management skills were top-notch; she practically ran Tony's company for him. Since she had come to him on her own, there was no reason for Michael to refuse.

"If you want to stay, that's fantastic. I haven't exactly set up a company, but as you can see, I'm working on this base, and it'll definitely need skilled people to help manage it. I'd be thrilled to have your expertise." Michael extended a welcoming hand.

"Let me think about it, but at least until the base is built, I'll be here to help." Pepper replied with a smile.

"No problem! As you can see, it's a bit basic here. I'll set up a room for you to rest in the meantime. If you need anything, just let Sarah know." Though she hadn't fully committed, Michael felt sure that in time, she would come to stay willingly.

Michael escorted her to her room.

---

The night descended quietly.

The island lay still, with a cool sea breeze brushing across. Michael found himself restless. Though he could absorb ether particles without hindrance, his body could only take so much at once. If he tried to absorb too quickly, the balance within him would falter.

His body had its own pace for processing the energy, adjusting to counteract the effects of the Aether's raw power. If he exceeded this rhythm, his body could lose control, and trouble would arise.

Feeling unsettled, Michael stepped outside the spaceship. The door opened automatically, and he walked out, taking in the fresh air.

This was his first time appreciating the island's nighttime beauty, vastly different from the daytime view. An urge to have a few drinks struck him. He lifted into the air, a streak of light slicing across the night sky as he landed in the heart of a bustling city.

Bright lights and crowds surrounded him, the city alive with nighttime energy.

Walking along the street, he looked around for a bar, passing women with heavy makeup, scantily clad and calling out to men passing by. Clearly, they were working, albeit in a unique profession.

Michael ignored their calls and found a lively bar nearby, entering to find a dim yet welcoming atmosphere. Not too crowded, not too empty—the perfect spot. Scanning the room, he was about to settle down when he spotted a familiar face seated by the window.

Surprised, Michael realized she was just as startled to see him. He ordered a few beers at the bar, then approached her table.
