A pile of human figures lay at the door!
Chen Haoran's eyes widened. The spectacular scene in front of him was a little hard to imagine. So, Michael had this ability besides controlling fire? No wonder his expression was so calm and casual when he mentioned it just now!
"Think carefully about what being polite means before coming in. Otherwise, I can't guarantee that I'll be as friendly as just throwing you out next time!" Michael glanced at the angry person in charge and said lightly.
Click, click—the guns suspended in the air turned their muzzles one by one, now pointing at the door.
The person in charge stopped instantly, daring not to act rashly again.
"Michael, don't forget your identity. You're a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Do you realize what you're doing?" The man didn't dare to act rashly and could only shout at Michael angrily.
Michael raised a finger and shook his head. As he moved, the guns in the air almost mimicked his gesture, "First of all, I'm not part of S.H.I.E.L.D. I'm just a consultant, but I haven't officially joined. Chen Haoran follows me now. Simply put, he's mine, and no longer under your control. If you're not convinced, then let's settle it here and now! Or I could use you to train my team."
"By doing this, you're declaring war on S.H.I.E.L.D. Are you sure you want to do this?" The person in charge asked sternly.
"Are you trying to scare me? I've had enough of you people. Everyone thinks they're superior and untouchable. I'm telling you now, I'm done with this. If you have something to show for yourself, go for it. If not, you'll die. Do you understand?"
Michael wasn't some naive boy; he knew exactly what he was doing. The reason he hadn't acted sooner was simply to avoid unnecessary trouble. After all, being cocky without strength isn't called being awesome—it's called being foolish.
Just because he had a virus that granted him powers and the ability to control fire didn't mean he thought he was invincible. That would be foolish arrogance. This was the Marvel Universe, after all. But now, after absorbing various abilities—including Johnny's power—and building his own team, Michael was confident he could hold his own.
At this point, there was no need for Michael to hold back.
He might not be a villain, but he wanted everyone to know that he was not someone to be trifled with!
"I hope you won't regret your decision."
Seeing Michael's determination, the person in charge wanted to shout orders but didn't dare. He knew very well that he was no match for this group. So, he threw out a final threat and prepared to report back to his director.
After all, this situation concerned more than just Chen Haoran!
Nick Fury received the news quickly, and he was surprised. Although he knew Michael wasn't the type to be pushed around, he hadn't expected Michael to stand up against S.H.I.E.L.D. so soon!
He was tempted to call in a team to show Michael that S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't a force to mess with, but he held back.
"Notify Captain America and have him talk to Michael to see what his intentions are," Nick Fury decided after a moment.
"Director... Captain America's phone is currently unreachable."
As soon as Nick Fury finished speaking, Hill, standing beside him, spoke up.
"Can't reach him? How is that possible?"
Nick Fury was puzzled and tried calling Captain America himself.
Meanwhile, Michael stood in front of Captain America with a smile and said lightly, "The director will call you any moment now."
Captain America didn't believe it. Suddenly transported here, he had no idea what was happening. Hearing Michael's words, he couldn't believe that Nick Fury would call him. But, before he could respond, his phone rang.
Seeing Nick Fury's name on the caller ID, Captain America looked at Michael in disbelief as he answered.
"It's me. Yes, about Michael? Well, no need to send me; he brought me here himself. He's in front of me now and told me you'd call just before my phone rang. Understood." Captain America hung up and looked at Michael, saying.
"Well, should I thank you for bringing me here in advance? Is this some kind of future-predicting ability? Or are you a prophet? It's impressive. However, since I'm here, let's get down to business. What do you want?"
Michael could indeed predict future events. Although this ability wasn't always reliable or especially useful, it came in handy at times. He'd sensed that Nick Fury would contact Captain America, so he had Clarice bring him here in advance.
Both Captain America and Nick Fury would now have to reconsider the cost of crossing paths with someone who could predict the future.
Indeed, Nick Fury's perspective shifted. From the recent call, he knew Captain America had been brought there in advance and saw how powerful Michael was. He hadn't yet decided to cut ties with Michael, and this only reinforced his stance. So, he asked Captain America to talk with Michael, and as for Chen Haoran, he was no longer the priority.
"Have them leave. I'm really tired of their presence." Michael glanced at the assembled agents.
'They're probably more scared than tired.' Captain America thought to himself, but he waved them off, "You guys can go. I'll handle things here."
As his command fell, the guns floating in the air returned to their original hands. The agents looked down at their guns, glanced at Captain America, then turned and left.
"This is much easier now!"
Michael smiled and snapped his fingers. The wine and glass beside him floated over, pouring themselves as if by magic before resting nearby. Michael gestured, inviting Captain America to sit, "Take a seat. I'll introduce you to my team. I think we'll be seeing a lot of each other from now on!"
Captain America took a seat and listened as Michael introduced his team.
Clarice, Sarah, Chen Haoran.
The team wasn't large, but each member had unique abilities.
Captain America, however, wasn't interested in the individual members; he wanted to know what Michael's intentions were. He didn't know Michael well; their last encounter had been because of the Thunderbolt, and they hadn't had a chance to speak in depth. But he'd heard about Michael's capabilities and was impressed by his resourcefulness. The way Michael had handled the Human Torch situation by feigning helplessness, only to absorb his power, had been clever.
Captain America now wanted to understand why Michael was suddenly so proactive in forming his own team, even to the extent of risking conflict with S.H.I.E.L.D.
"So, why are you gathering these people and building your own team?" Captain America asked directly.
"Why? It's simple. On a personal level, I need power to protect myself and those I care about. On a larger scale, it's to prepare for the crises we're bound to face in the future." Michael replied.
"What kind of crises are you referring to?" Captain America couldn't take Michael's words lightly, given his ability to foresee events.
"Many, more than you can imagine." Michael said calmly.
"Even so, there are better ways to handle things." Captain America was alluding to the issue with Chen Haoran.
Michael shrugged, "In the end, isn't the outcome the same? I don't need to prove anything. Time will be the best judge. Captain, I admire you—not just for your abilities, but for your spirit. If you ever need help in the future, you know where to find me."
"I'll remember that. Well... my mission here is done. Could you ask your people to take me back? You know, I didn't have time to grab my wallet when I came here." Captain America said helplessly.
"Of course."
Michael nodded to Clarice, "Send Captain America to the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier so he doesn't have to make another trip after getting home."
"Was that part of your future prediction, too?" Captain America asked curiously.
"No, just logical reasoning. Fury will definitely want to talk to you." Michael replied with a smile.
Captain America spread his hands, realizing it had been a silly question.
