Chapter 6: Every corner of this house is haunted
I'm sitting in the dining hall, watching as Keshia and Junior have their usual debate over breakfast. I glance at Raya who's playing around with her food and I gently rub her back
"Has Lord Noah and Lord Elliot left already?" Keshia asks
I nod "At first light."
"I see" she glance at Raya before asking "Did you find out what happened last night?"
"No" I sigh "Nobody saw anything and there was no sign of someone breaking into the castle"
She nods "Perhaps she imagined it"
I see Raya frown and I press a kiss to her forehead "Have the maid take you and your brother for a walk in the garden, sweetheart"
"Okay" she says softly before following the maid out who's also taking Junior with her
I turn back to Keshia "I ask that you please refrain from speaking about my daughter like she is not in your presence"
"Oh." She clears her throat "I didn't mean any disrespect, Sophia"
I sigh "It's fine. Just know better"
I give her a small smile before walking out of the dining hall, Hayden a few steps behind me. When he realizes where I'm heading, he asks "The king's bedchamber?"
"Yes. I haven't been in there since he died, perhaps there's something that may lead to who killed him"
"Right" we reached the door and he says "I'll give you some privacy, Your Grace."
"Thank you" I walk inside before he closes the door behind me and I'm left in utter silence.
It still smells like him.
Minutes later of looking around, I find Romero's diary and I don't want to look through it but I also need to look through it to know what was going through his mind. Deciding to only read the last written page, I open the diary only to find the last written page ripped out.
That's strange.
