Karna Reborn

Chapter 8: I can sense Gate

The sun was shining down in the house or Karna, as it hit his face, normal he will more then ready to get up but not today, he felt extremely lazy, why was this happening he didn't know

"Not today," he muttered to himself, acknowledging the unusual lethargy that had settled over him.

He knew he couldn't stay in bed forever, though. The world outside was waiting, and so were the new challenges and responsibilities that came with his newfound rank as a hunter. With a deep breath, Karna pushed himself out of bed, determined to face the day, even if his usual enthusiasm was lacking.

As he prepared for the day ahead, Karna resolved to shake off the weight of his past. Today might have started slow, but he wouldn't let it define him. He was determined to rise above the shadows of his previous life and embrace the opportunities this new one had to offer.

Karna, wrapped snugly in his blanket, decided to take a different approach to getting out of bed. Instead of his usual energetic start, he began to wiggle down the hallway like a worm, letting the blanket trail behind him. The soft fabric cocooned him as he made his way out of his room, half-shuffling, half-crawling.

As he reached the living room, his little sister Tapti was already up and about, clearly amused by the sight before her. She stopped in her tracks, raising an eyebrow at her brother's unusual behavior.

"You're lazy today," Tapti remarked with a playful smirk, crossing her arms as she watched Karna's slow, worm-like progress.

Karna paused in his wiggling, peeking out from under the blanket with a sheepish grin. "Even the son of the sun god needs a break sometimes," he replied, his voice muffled by the layers of fabric.

Tapti rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. "Well, if you keep this up, you'll be late for breakfast. And you know how Mom gets when you're not at the table on time."

Karna chuckled, finally unraveling himself from the blanket and getting to his feet. "Alright, alright, I'm up. No more wiggling, I promise."

With a stretch and a yawn, he followed Tapti towards the kitchen, the warmth of the morning light starting to lift his spirits as he left the sluggishness behind.

Karna finished his breakfast, but something felt off. A strange, cold sensation crept over him, sending a shiver down his spine. He glanced around the room, trying to pinpoint the source, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Still, the feeling persisted, tugging at his instincts.

Without wasting any time, Karna moved to his closet and grabbed a hoodie, pulling the hood low over his head. He added a cap and a pair of sunglasses to complete the look, trying to blend in as much as possible.

As he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror, he couldn't help but chuckle. "I really look like a stereotypical fake hidden person," he muttered to himself, the irony not lost on him.

Satisfied with his disguise, Karna grabbed a water bottle, slung his spears over his shoulder, and stepped outside. He took a deep breath, feeling the energy surging within him as he prepared to move. In an instant, he dashed forward at high speed, the world around him blurring as he raced towards the source of the strange sensation.

It didn't take long for him to reach the destination. When he stopped, Karna found himself standing in front of a gate—a massive, swirling vortex of energy that seemed to pulse with an otherworldly presence. His eyes widened in surprise as he stared at it.

"This is a gate..." he murmured, astonished. "Did this gate just come into existence? If so, how did I sense it before it even appeared?"

Karna stood there, trying to make sense of what he was feeling. His connection to the world, to the very fabric of reality, had alerted him to something no one else could perceive. The realization that he could sense these gates before they formed filled him with a mixture of awe and concern. What did this mean for him, and for the world around him?

Karna stared at the gate, weighing his options. "Should I tell the Hunter's Guild?" he murmured to himself. But as he kept looking at the swirling energy, a different thought crossed his mind. "Or maybe…"

Without giving it much more thought, Karna stepped forward, deciding to enter the gate on his own. As he crossed the threshold, he closed his eyes, feeling an intense, almost unbearable sensation—a pulling, as if his very soul was being ripped from his body. His form seemed to disassemble, each particle scattering before being forcibly reassembled.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a completely different place. The surroundings were dark and damp, the air thick with the smell of wet stone and moss. He was in a cave, the rocky walls illuminated by faint, glistening droplets of water falling from the ceiling. The sound of the droplets echoed eerily through the cavern, each splash sending ripples through the small pools that had formed on the uneven ground.

Karna's senses were on high alert, and that's when he heard it—a faint, hissing noise coming from deeper within the cave. He couldn't see the source, but the sound was unmistakable, like the warning of a predator lying in wait. His grip tightened on his spear as he cautiously moved forward, every nerve in his body ready for whatever might come next.

Karna gripped his spear tightly, his heart beating steadily as he moved deeper into the cave. The hissing grew louder with each step, echoing off the walls, amplifying the tension in the air. The cave narrowed, forcing him to sidestep between jagged rocks, the shadows playing tricks on his eyes.

Suddenly, the passage widened, opening into a large cavern. The hissing noise was now accompanied by a low, rumbling growl. Karna's eyes scanned the area, taking in the sight before him. The cavern was lit by a strange, bioluminescent moss clinging to the walls, casting an eerie green glow over everything. In the center of the cavern, coiled up on a large rock, was a massive serpent-like creature. Its scales were dark, almost black, but with a strange iridescent sheen that reflected the dim light, making it look like a living shadow.

The creature's eyes locked onto Karna's, glowing with a malevolent intelligence. Its forked tongue flicked out, tasting the air, as it slowly uncoiled itself, revealing its full, terrifying length. This wasn't just any ordinary snake—it was something far more dangerous, a guardian of the dungeon.

Karna's mind raced. He had faced powerful foes before, but something about this creature felt different, more primal. He adjusted his grip on his spear, readying himself for the inevitable battle.

The serpent hissed again, louder this time, as it slithered down from the rock, its movements smooth and deliberate. Karna took a deep breath, centering himself, his eyes never leaving the creature. He could feel the air crackle with energy as the tension between them grew.

Without warning, the serpent lunged at him, its jaws wide open, fangs glistening with venom. Karna sidestepped at the last moment, his reflexes honed from years of combat. He thrust his spear towards the creature's exposed side, but the serpent twisted in mid-air, narrowly avoiding the blow. It was fast—faster than anything Karna had encountered before.

The serpent coiled again, preparing for another strike. Karna knew he couldn't afford to let this fight drag on. He needed to find a way to end it quickly. Summoning his inner strength, he focused on his spear, feeling the divine energy course through it. The spear began to glow with a golden light, radiating heat that made the air around it shimmer.

As the serpent lunged again, Karna met it head-on, thrusting his spear forward with all his might. The spear pierced through the serpent's scales, the divine energy searing its flesh. The creature let out a deafening screech, writhing in pain as the golden light spread through its body, consuming it from the inside out.

With one final, violent spasm, the serpent collapsed, its body disintegrating into ash that was quickly carried away by an unseen breeze. The cavern fell silent, the only sound being Karna's heavy breathing as he stood over the remains of his defeated foe.

But there was no time to rest. Karna could feel the cave shift around him, the very air changing as if in response to the serpent's death. The dungeon wasn't done with him yet. He knew that this was just the beginning, a test to see if he was worthy of what lay deeper within.

Karna took a moment to catch his breath, then turned his gaze towards the far end of the cavern, where another passage awaited. He didn't know what he would find next, but one thing was certain—he was in for a fight unlike any he had faced before. With renewed determination, he moved forward, ready to face whatever challenges awaited him in the heart of the dungeon.
