Chapter 18: What are you
Ashwatthama saw the system Notification they all got. "I sometime wonder if our world is a video game".
Sita chuckled as she looked at him. "I mean, all hurts have a menu, but that is because we all have awaked so that is why".
Bhima just streets as he walked out of the gate. "Let's just celebrate we can take the loot later".
The group of 5 was going to live, but then Karna just stopped he was only one there, as then his arm stretch out it as he moved close to where the Spector knight was, then a golden glow was there, as it was the shape of the Spector knight, as then hold his arm as then the golden knights got absorbed into his body, he closes his eyes as she opens as he felt stroneger as then he saw something, a mark that was not there before a sun mark on his right arm, the same arm that moved on its own for a few seconds now back too Normal
Karna frowned, staring at the sun-shaped mark now etched onto his right arm.
He clenched and unclenched his fist, feeling a strange warmth radiating from the mark. It wasn't painful, but it felt... powerful.
His mind raced.
"What the hell just happened?"
The golden silhouette of the Specter Knight had vanished into him. It wasn't normal loot, nor was it something the system acknowledged. It felt… different.
He took a deep breath, looking down at his arm.
"That wasn't just any Specter Knight… something about it was unique."
A system notification flashed in his vision.
[New Skill Acquired!
Skill: Phantom Radiance (Passive/Active) –
A fusion of spectral and solar energy. Enhances fire and light-based attacks with an ethereal property, making them effective against spiritual and non-physical beings. Active ability allows the user to temporarily phase into an incorporeal state for five seconds]
Karna's eyes widened.
"I absorbed the Specter Knight's power?"
This wasn't normal. Loot was one thing, but absorbing abilities? He had never heard of any Hunter doing that before.
His instincts screamed that this was important.
He exhaled slowly, flexing his fingers as the golden mark faded slightly, becoming less prominent.
"I should keep this to myself… for now."
With that, he turned and stepped through the portal, rejoining his team on the other side.
Few minutes later
The Hunter's Guild representative glanced at each of them with a stern yet apologetic expression. His voice was calm, but there was an edge of urgency in it.
"I see, the Hunter's Guild would like to apologize to the five of you. It was clearly a High A Rank to Low S Rank Dungeon. We should've anticipated the level of danger, but… the portal opened unexpectedly."
Bhima, still catching his breath from the battle, simply nodded. "It's fine. We handled it."
Karna, however, was more concerned. He was still processing the strange new power he had absorbed from the Specter Knight. It felt like something was growing inside him, but he kept his expression neutral. He didn't want to raise suspicions just yet.
Sita, ever the tactical thinker, spoke up. "The Specter Knight was unlike anything we've faced before. I think the dungeon was either a rare anomaly or the creature itself had a specific purpose for being there."
The Guild representative looked at her, then back at the group, clearly taking in her words. "You're not wrong. These dungeons have been behaving unpredictably as of late. We'll need to look into it more thoroughly."
Ashwatthama, a little more relaxed now, shrugged. "It's not like we didn't handle it. But if this becomes a trend, the Guild should definitely be more careful."
The representative nodded. "Absolutely. Your efforts are appreciated, but we'll re-evaluate the difficulty levels of the dungeons moving forward. For now, I need to collect your reports, and the Guild will review the data on the dungeon. Rest assured, we'll make adjustments where necessary."
As he moved to take the reports, Karna couldn't shake the feeling that this "Specter Knight" was only the beginning. He had absorbed something that seemed much more dangerous than a mere dungeon monster. Something about this entire incident felt unnaturally orchestrated—like the monsters were appearing for a reason.
He briefly locked eyes with Ashwatthama, who raised an eyebrow in return, but Karna said nothing. There was no need to worry anyone just yet.
The Guild representative handed over the reward and the loot from the dungeon, but Karna couldn't focus on that. His mind kept circling back to the mark on his arm, the new power he had acquired.
Sita, sensing his distraction, nudged him gently. "You alright, Karna?"
Karna blinked, his thoughts returning to the present. "Yeah, just thinking about the dungeon. Something felt off about that fight."
Rama spoke up, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the Guild representative. "We can only hope that what we faced doesn't become a common occurrence."
The Guild representative simply nodded, but his face showed little reassurance. "We'll do our best to prevent that. Thank you all for your cooperation today."
As they walked away, Karna lingered for a moment. He glanced at his right arm again, the mark still faint but unmistakable. Something told him that the future might hold challenges far greater than they were prepared for.
Later in the evening, as Karna was in his room, he looked at his arm, as he tapped it. "What are you"
As then after tapping it a few more times, the sun mark just came up, as then a screen was shown as Karna was sent a back a bit.

Karna jisu blonek, this was not the first he saw his skill, but this was different Normal he used a skill crystal to check, what shocked is that had more then 3 skill, he originally had 3 skill, a hunter no matter ethe rank can only have 3 skill, and then have sub skilles tited to this 3. "Are you a System"
Karna stared at the screen in disbelief, his hand still resting on his arm where the sun mark had appeared. He read the list of skills again, each one more extraordinary than the last. This wasn't normal—no Hunter could have so many active skills, especially ones that were tied to such powerful elements.
He blinked as the screen flickered for a moment, a sense of unease washing over him. Then, the sudden message broke his thoughts.
[No!]
Karna frowned. "Then what are you?"
There was no response at first, but then a slight tremor in the air, almost like an energy pulse, rippled through his room. The mark on his arm shimmered briefly before the screen flickered once again.
[I am not a system. I am a force. A presence bound to you.]
Karna felt his heart race as he processed the words. "A force...bound to me?" He repeated the message aloud, his voice a mix of confusion and suspicion. "What does that mean?"
The screen seemed to dim before it resumed with another message.
[You have been chosen to wield my power. I am the embodiment of Sun and Light, of Gravity and Fire. You are my vessel in this world.]
Karna's mind raced as the words sank in. Vessel—that meant something more than just having powers. It suggested a deeper connection, something permanent. The abilities he now wielded were not just gifts—they were part of him, intertwined with his very being.
He stood there for a moment, trying to process it all. His heart still thudded in his chest, but his rational mind kicked in. "Chosen... by whom? And why me?"
The screen flickered again, but no answer came this time. Karna gritted his teeth, frustration building. He'd been through many trials, but nothing had prepared him for this kind of revelation.
He clenched his fist, feeling the power thrumming through his veins, like an unstoppable surge. The sun mark on his arm burned a bit, almost as if reacting to his inner turmoil.
Just as he was about to speak again, another message appeared, this time with more urgency.
[You must learn to control me, Karna. Or else, the consequences will be dire.]
Karna's brow furrowed at the warning. "What kind of consequences?" he thought, but before he could voice it, the screen vanished with a bright flash. His room returned to normal, but the weight of the presence on his arm remained.
Sighing, he sat down on the edge of his bed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't even know what I'm dealing with here," he muttered under his breath. "Is this some kind of blessing or a curse?"
He thought back to the battle with the Specter Knight. He remembered how the new abilities had surged within him, granting him strength and speed far beyond what he'd ever known. But at the same time, the mark on his arm felt like a constant reminder that something greater was at play—something that had chosen him for reasons he couldn't yet understand.
"Well, I have no choice but to figure this out," he said quietly. "But for now, I'll keep it to myself. I can't afford to make this public knowledge."
The last thing he needed right now was to draw attention to his new powers, especially if they came with hidden dangers. Control—that was his focus now. Whatever this force was, he needed to learn how to wield it properly.
As he got up to stretch, he noticed a faint glow still lingering on his arm. A reminder of what had changed, and what was yet to come. The power was undeniable, but the questions kept swirling in his mind. What did it mean to be its vessel?
For now, though, the answers would have to wait. He would figure it out in time, but for now, he needed to rest and prepare for whatever might come next.
Karna looked at his as he spoke. "How exactly do I get more skill, how do you work"
The screen flicker, as he looked at the screen
[When you kill that of high ranking gate boss, or just a boss in general, after you kill it an Eco will left, once an Eco has been left I will absorb the monster, after that I will give one or more skill depending on the boss, later on you can even have the power to transform into a Boss your self]
Karna looked at it as he spoke. "This kinda sound like a Video game I played".
Karna rubbed his chin, deep in thought. Gaining skills by absorbing echoes of fallen bosses? That was something straight out of an RPG. He couldn't deny the similarity to video games he had played before, but this was real—his body, his powers, his life.
The screen flickered again.
[Correct. However, this is not a game. You are not a player. You are my vessel, and your growth will determine the extent of my power.]
Karna exhaled sharply. "So, you're saying the stronger I get, the stronger you get?"
[Yes. But your strength is your own. I merely provide the means.]
Karna sat back, processing this information. If he continued fighting and taking down powerful enemies, he could continuously evolve—potentially even transforming into bosses himself. That meant unlimited growth potential, but also unpredictable consequences.
"So if I kill an S-Rank boss, I could get an S-Rank skill?" Karna asked.
[Yes, but the number and quality of skills depend on multiple factors, including your compatibility with the essence of the creature you defeat.]
Karna frowned. "Meaning I won't always get something?"
[Correct. However, should an echo be absorbed, the reward will always be something significant.]
He sighed. "Well, at least it's not completely random like a gacha game."
He stretched his arm, looking at the sun mark glowing faintly on his skin. If he wanted to make the most out of this power, he needed to hunt stronger bosses.
"But what about the transformation ability?" Karna asked, suddenly remembering that part. "You said I could turn into a boss later?"
The screen flickered again.
[Once you have absorbed enough echoes and fully integrated them into your being, you will unlock the ability to assume their forms—taking on their strengths while retaining your own identity. However, this transformation comes with a time limit and will consume a significant amount of energy.]
Karna's eyes widened. "So I can become a dungeon boss for a limited time? That's insane…"
This ability had serious potential. If he could transform into an S-Rank Boss, even if just for a short period, he could turn the tide of any battle. But the fact that it consumed a large amount of energy meant he had to be careful when using it.
He clenched his fist, feeling the raw power surging within him.
"Looks like I've got some grinding to do," he muttered, a small smirk forming on his lips.
