Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1420: The Nowhere Ring

'Hurricroak. Are you in the library right now?'

[Maestro! It's been ages, and it's fantastic hearing your voice again. Has it gotten stronger? You sound stronger.]

'You and I both know that you were probably watching me undergo a cultivation breakthrough on another continent, so let's just skip the small talk for now. By the way, I'm assuming you and the others had a betting pool, who won?'

[The children.]

'Huh...that's surprisingly appropriate given the topic...anyways, Hurricroak how quickly can you come to my current location?'

[Less than a minute. Why?]

'How do you feel about fighting in a revenge match?'

... Enough talk, let's rock...

The [Library of Nowhere], technically, wasn't a physical place.

While there was a physical building and location, the internal workings of the place were a chaotic mess.

Thanks to the power of [Chaos] being an ever-changing mess, Logos and Pathos could use this power to manipulate and change the library however they wished, whenever they wished. Of course, they maintained certain parts of the library as anchoring constants to prevent a total collapse.

[Chaos] cannot exist without [Order], after all.

Through this strange rule, loophole of reality, that Logos and Pathos were able to create rooms that were much bigger and more elaborate than what others could anticipate or expect from them and their library.

Which is why, when Zhen Liu and Olstenna left to go fight in the library's arena and they were followed by Zhen Liu's cousins and allies, the former group was absolutely flabbergasted at the sheer scale of the place.

"What the fuck?!" Zhen Xing cried out when they saw the arena. "I remember this place being smaller..."

To put it into perspective, this arena was bigger than the ones that were in the [Mines of Malevolence] and Stoneclaw City.

Then again, it had to be since it was also where the kaijin would practice when not accompanying Zhen Liu in the abandoned quarry. As well, it was also the interrogation theaters Zhen Liu would use to fuck with people.

Speaking of Zhen Liu, at this point in time, he and Olstenna were busy making their own preparations on opposite sides of the arena.

The way the two warriors were gearing up to fight, made it very clear to the onlookers that they had very different mindsets when it came to the matter.

Olstenna was bouncing in place, swinging his arms, and humming all the while in order to warm up both his muscles and his internal flames. A look of glee was apparent on his face, as he looked forward to finally having the fight he was dreaming of ever since he found that lost slab in the middle of nowhere.

^Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!^

On the flip side, and a mere stone toss away, Zhen Liu was quietly meditating while circulating [Chaos] and aether throughout his body.

Of course, since he was a [Kaijin Lord], he made sure to pick at least one kaijin to join him in the ring.

^You know I could probably take all of your kaijin at once,^ Olstenna taunted with confidence. ^It would make things more fair.^

^I will just need one Kaijin to rake you down,^ Zhen Liu retorted in orrtfect Scorch Talk. ^Besides, this is very much a revenge match for one of them.^

After making this statement, a sudden crack of thunder echoed throughout the arena as a ball of neon blue lighting suddenly flew in before landing right next to Zhen Liu and exploding in a pillar of smoke.

The chimeric frog woman Hurricroak appeared from the dissipating cloud with a big ole smile on her face.

[I have been waiting for this rematch,] Hurricroak said with a laugh as she stared down Olstenna. [Not going to lie, I was a little upset that Nepherage was the only one to get a cage match against you when you got captured.]

^Oh, so this is why you only wanted to bring in one kaijin,^ Olstenna stated with a realizing tone. ^Nothing gets the morale roaring like a revenge match, eh?^

^Basically,^ Zhen Liu agreed as he stopped meditating and got to his feet. ^Now then, are you done preparing or should I go and use the bathroom first? I'm starting to get bored.^

^If that's your way of asking me to beat the crap out of you, I am more than happy to do so.^

Now that they were done exchanging words, both Zhen Liu and Olstenna activated their respective [Regalia] and...didn't even give each other time to prepare before they started exchanging blows!

The moment they were suited up, both Olstenna and Zhen Liu charged towards each other at speeds that broke the sound barrier and flashing fists with one another.

Zhen Liu didn't bring out his hammers quite yet, and Olstenna had yet to bring out his flames.

However, that was going to rapidly change as this fight wasn't technically a one-on-one.

It was two on one.

[Thunder Hammer!]

While they were locked in place, Hurricroak decided to leap in from above while changing one of her hands into a giant crab claw covered in lighting.

Now, this would've been the part where Zhen Liu lock Olstenna in place by twisting the latter's arm into a hold, but the Ignarii warrior proved to be a touch more clever and a lot more nimble than anticipated.

^Nice try, but I know your weakness,^ Olstenna declared before using his aether to make an incredibly high pitched whistle.

[Bah!]

"My ears!"

The effect was immediate as Zhen Liu and Hurricroak both instinctively flinched due to the noise piercing their eardrums and rattling inside of their heads.

This moment stunned Zhen Liu long enough that he was forced to let go, while Hurricroak was basically forced into a crash landing.

Olstenna, however, wasn't going to let this opportunity pass him by.

Releasing jets of flame from his feet, Olstenna launched himself into a spinning wheel kick and landed a foot squarely into Hurricroak's abdomen, sending the frog girl flying into Zhen Liu and pushing the duo back several dozen steps.

If this was a tournament setting, Olstenna would've earned the first point with that exchange of blows.

^I know full well now that you and your kaijin are incredibly vulnerable to aether-enhanced music and sounds,^ Olstenna declared with a confident tone. ^While I don't understand the reason, nor do I care to find out, I am more than willing to make use of this fact to beat the everliving shit out of you.^

"Hmmm."

To their credit, neither Hurricroak or Zhen Liu decided to verbally shoot back against Olstenna's words quite yet, because they understood that moments such as these required actions more so than words.

Therefore, once they untangled themselves, Zhen Liu and Hurricroak immediately got in sync with one another.

"Fine, you wanna make some noise? Let's make some noise!'

In one swift motion, Zhen Liu summoned his newly minted [Astra], [Senbazuru].

A long fluttering scarf made of a thousand different colored patches appeared in his hands, radiating with a strange power.

At the same time, prompted by Zhen Liu's words, Hurricroak transformed into a shower of light that soon condensed into the form of a strange shamisen in Zhen Liu's other hand. However, the duo wasn't done yet.

"Here goes something!"

"Wait, you didn't even plan for this?!"

Taking his [Astra], Zhen Liu quickly wrapped it around Hurricroak's weapon form, initiating a transformation that nobody anticipated.

Zhen Liu's [Astra] and Hurricroak's [Taboo] form combined in a manner that wasn't exactly like how Dante's [Apostasy] formed.

That was a true fusion on a fundamental level that changed the nature of both objects.

Zhen Liu's [Astra] was actively enhancing Hurricroak's current form and strengthening her innate attributes instead.

To put it more bluntly, Hurricroak's original shamisen form had transformed into an electric guitar with golden strings to boot.

Once the guitar was fully formed, Zhen Liu strummed a power chord so loud that a literal projectile of thunder rapidly formed before launching forward and slashing right past Olstenna's cheek.

^What the fuck?^

Needless to say, the sudden shift from sending someone flying to having that same someone suddenly someone a weapon was... unexpected.

Especially when the aformentioned someone was making use of a weapon that was related directly to one of his biggest weaknesses.

For the first time in his life, and probably because the ambient [Chaos] was fucking with his head, Olstenna decided to ask a questions during a battle.

^How the fuck did you do that? I thought music-based aether arts were your greatest weakness!^

^Oh, it still is,^ Zhen Liu freely admitted while warming up his strumming fingers by repeatedly playing a chord on the guitar. ^Its just, I don't mind using something that might kill me if it meant overcoming such thing. Besides, you just said it yourself. I'm weak against aether-based sound. I don't think that applies to [Chaos].^

^Oh...fuck.^

After this revelation was shared, Zhen Liu released a scale of thundering noise that created a shockwave effect.

^Get ready to taste the lightning!^
