Chapter 169
"Sutoku's cursed technique is called 'Divine Writ: Ink Sutra'; ugh, even his cursed technique's name sounds arrogant…" His lips tightened. But it deserves its divine name… It is divine; reality becomes whatever he writes… It's like cursed speech but totally different. By using his cursed technique, he can write with his cursed energy on anything: air, blood, flesh… even cursed energy itself. And whatever Sutoku writes becomes reality…
Ren leaned his head back against the rough bark of a tree. His breath came shallow. Sounds too good to be true, huh? Because it is… This cursed technique has only one flaw…
"The Hour of Undoing."
That was the core limitation.
Any reality Sutoku rewrote reverted after exactly one hour. Sixty minutes. If Sutoku cut a tree with "Split," it returned to its uncut state after exactly sixty minutes. Even death by kanji was undone, restoring the victim's body—and potentially life. Because of this, Sutoku never used his cursed technique to harm me directly. Only at the very end, when I was truly overwhelming him, did he use "Split" to cut me…
Ren coughed into his sleeve, tasting iron. The reason he was so damn good at hand-to-hand was because his cursed technique had such a flaw. He could only kill with physical force, not through Divine Writ. But I think this weakness would have been solved in his Domain.
It's all lining up now.
His domain didn't have a sure-hit effect. He must have used a binding vow to cancel the sure-hit but erase "The Hour of Undoing." His cursed technique lost its limitation entirely inside that domain. But still… now that I have it and know how it works, the cracks show. Cursed technique burnout is fast if you write too rapidly. And every kanji used has a one-minute cooldown. That's why he wasn't just writing "split, split, split again." He couldn't. His cursed technique is broken, sure—but it was him who pushed it to its full potential that made it truly broken.
Ren let his eyes close for a moment. Even with them shut, Sutoku's cold grin lingered in his mind.
Not only that, the maximum technique… "Scripture Binding Edict." Ugh, it's absurd. Half maximum technique, half binding vow. When Sutoku used it, he made a binding vow with himself—he couldn't use Divine Writ for an hour, but in return his maximum technique became long range. What a monster. He turned his short-range divine kanji into an executioner's decree that spanned battlefields, even at the cost of losing his technique afterward…
Ren exhaled slowly.
Anyway, the reason why I will die in an hour is because of the Hour of Undoing. I used the "Heal" kanji on my body. That effect will fade away in an hour, and all the wounds Sutoku carved into me will come back at once. Every cut, every tear, every bone bruise. My body will collapse under it. I need to get to Jujutsu High. Shoko might be the only person who can save me. Ugh… I also need someone else who can use the reverse cursed technique. I can't just keep relying on Shoko every time I gamble with death…
His knees buckled, and he slid down the tree, his back scraping bark. He blinked heavily, fighting to stay awake.
'Shit. Even if I healed myself, the exhaustion never left. I'm still tired. My body feels like wet sand. Ugh. I have to move fast… If there's anyone else in this country who can sense cursed energy, they must have felt my fight with Sutoku. That clash wasn't quiet—damn it, fighting him really was a shitty choice.'
Ren inhaled through his teeth. Held it. Exhaled slowly.
'Calm down. Phew. It's fine. Mei Mei will come. She'll find me. Then I can leave with her. I'll hand Ogami Kai2 and Worm… and then I'll call him. He should come here fast. Ahh… and then I don't have anything to worry about…'
Ren closed his eyes for one second too long. His head jerked as if the world threatened to pull him into unconsciousness. He pushed his shoulder hard into the tree, forcing his eyes back open.

Newly Copied Cursed Technique…
{ Divine Writ: Blood Ink Sutra
Ren writes kanji characters in the air using either blood or concentrated cursed energy. Once completed, the written character's meaning becomes real, enforcing reality-altering effects upon contact with targets, terrain, or cursed energy signatures.
"The Hour of Undoing" – Core Limitation:
Any reality rewritten by the Divine Writ will revert after 1 hour.
Split terrain, erased objects, and sealed CTs—all return to their original state after exactly 60 minutes.
Even death by kanji is undone, restoring the victim's body (and potentially life).
Known Kanji & Effects:
裂 – "Split"
Slashes terrain or targets in a straight line. Can slice souls if concentrated.
Undoing: Terrain restored after 1 hour.
封 – "Seal"
Temporarily binds the cursed technique of one target (5–10 seconds).
死 – "Death"
Sends cursed feedback through the target's soul and core. Lethal if not treated.
Undoing: Death caused by this kanji alone is reversed.
無 – "Nothing"
Erases memory within a small radius (memory comes back after 5 seconds).
落 – "Fall"
Forces gravity downward in a 10-meter zone.
Undoing: Area returns to normal.
Maximum Output: Scripture Binding Edict
Ren has to cross his hands and make half-hand signs to cast a reality-binding field across a 20-meter radius.
All active cursed techniques within the area are forcefully sealed for one hour—including Ren's.
Ren and enemies may still use reverse cursed technique and cursed tools.
Activation Chant (required by Ren):
"Ink that binds gods—
Speak not their names, nor let power roam unchained."
Undoing: After 1 hour, all sealed techniques return.}
