Chapter 129 Princess Jade-Faced
Among all present, Lu Yu was the strongest and most experienced. Since he had spoken, everyone else also let their guard down.
Yet, they couldn't suppress their curiosity; everyone stretched their necks, gazing in the direction where the Monkey had disappeared. With the Monkey's ability to cover tens of thousands of miles in a somersault, there was no sign of him anymore, and the crowd could only sigh softly.
Lu Yu, however, was unconcerned. He had heard the story of the true and false Monkey King in his previous life. Though stories were just stories and reality was reality, the general outcome was always certain - only the boundless power of Buddhism could transform a divided heart.
What concerned him now was something else. He turned around and asked the Ruyi True Immortal, who looked troubled, "How many years has it been since you left Green Screen Mountain?"
The Ruyi True Immortal was taken aback by Lu Yu's question, not understanding why he would ask such a thing, but he honestly answered, "It has been about a hundred years since I left Green Screen Mountain!"
Having said this, the Ruyi True Immortal sighed silently. He had not expected that his angry departure would turn into a century. Reflecting on it now, things had changed and people had gone, which only added to his sighs.
"Before you left, did your brother show any unusual behaviors?" he continued to inquire.
The Ruyi True Immortal bowed his head and thought for a long time before responding, "My brother has vast Divine Skills. I always kept my distance from him and did not notice anything amiss."
"Right, I recall, my brother once mentioned that he sometimes felt confused and would forget things he had done."
The casual speaker was unaware, but the listener was intentional. Listening to the Ruyi True Immortal's answer, a flicker of understanding flashed across Lu Yu's eyes.
The Ruyi True Immortal looked at Lu Yu, unsure of the deeper meaning behind his questions, and was about to ask more when suddenly a loud booming sound was heard.
He looked up and saw a scene he would never forget. Stay tuned with My Virtual Library Empire
Two golden Monkeys were battling in the sky, each clash emitting a tremendous boom that shook the heavens and the earth. Even from thousands of miles away, the sounds clearly reached their ears.
The massive sound waves created by the clash swept across the land, and the wind it generated could be felt even on Huaguo Mountain.
"My goodness, the two Great Saints are fighting!" Ao Guang exclaimed on the side. One Sun Wukong was already troublesome enough, and now there were two.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the two Monkeys grew larger and higher, soon vanishing from their sight. Lu Yu knew it had escalated to the Heavenly Court.
Ao Guang, with his hand shading his eyes, looked up for a long time before saying, "By the looks of it, they have probably reached the Southern Heavenly Gate."
There was a hint of regret in his words, as such a spectacle was not something one could just see whenever they wished.
Lu Yu gave a wry smile, noticing the Old Dragon King's love for excitement. He looked up and chuckled, "This is not something we can handle anymore. Two monkeys are trouble enough for them."
Hearing this, Ao Guang also nodded and smiled, "Let the tall ones deal with the sky if it falls. It's just a pity to miss such a spectacle."
The two exchanged smiles and decided to drink together heavily, gradually leaving the place.
Ruyi True Immortal still found himself troubled by Lu Yu's recent words; he always felt something sinister was unfolding around his older brother.
Meanwhile, the Bull Demon King, the subject of Ruyi True Immortal's concern, had also noticed something was off with himself. Lately, he had often forgotten things he had done and occasionally woke up in unfamiliar surroundings with no memory of his actions.
As a cultivator, in theory, he didn't need to sleep unless he wanted to, but lately, he had involuntarily been falling into a deep slumber.
All of this filled the Bull Demon King, a revered figure among the Demon Race, with fear. To be safe, he decided to stay in Moyun Cave, not daring to meet Princess Iron Fan.
Even Princess Jade-Faced noticed something was amiss with the old bull and asked with concern, "My lord, what's the matter? You seem very troubled."
The old bull responded irritably, "What would a woman understand?"
After speaking, he waved his hand dismissively and left Moyun Cave, leaving only Princess Jade-Faced standing there in a daze, her eyes brimming with tears as she cried out for the Bull Demon King.
"He's utterly heartless! I've treated him so well, giving him countless treasures, and I even treated that haggard woman kindly. Yet, this is how he treats me." Princess Jade-Faced grew angrier as she thought more about it and began to curse loudly.
A maid quickly came to comfort her, saying, "Please do not cry, princess. It's not worth upsetting yourself over this. I don't believe the prince consort is such a person; there must be another explanation."
Comforted by the maid, Princess Jade-Faced felt somewhat better. After wiping away her tears, she thought back carefully and indeed noticed something was off: the old bull had always been impetuous, but lately, he seemed to be as devout as a monk, showing no interest in her, though she was as beautiful as a flower.
Moreover, he was lethargic all day, engaged in god knows what. The thought sent a chilling shock through her, realizing someone powerful was manipulating a Demon King into such a state without a trace.
A nameless fear swept through her, as if a poison snake were biting at her soul; her stunning face trembled uncontrollably from extreme fear.
The maid immediately noticed the princess's distress and quickly took her hand, asking with concern, "What's wrong, princess?"
As soon as she grasped Princess Jade-Faced's delicate hand, she found that the usually composed princess was trembling, seemingly terrified by something horrendous.
It took a while for Princess Jade-Faced to recover from the fear. She gently patted her chest and took a deep breath before saying, "It's nothing, I just remembered some old things. I'm fine now."
The maid looked on with suspicion, as the princess seemed to have reacted to more than just old memories, but as a servant, she did not probe further.
Once the maid had left, Princess Jade-Faced looked at her beautiful reflection in the mirror and gently touched her face; she knew she had to find a way to save herself or else she might die unnoticed in this unknown powerful conspiracy.
After thinking for a while, Princess Jade-Faced bit her lip decisively and turned to call the maid back in, instructing her to dress her up nicely.
"Princess, the prince consort already left, who do you need to look good for?" the maid asked curiously.
"I'm going to meet that plain-faced woman at Green Screen Mountain soon, I must be dressed beautifully, I can't afford to lose face in front of her!" Princess Jade-Faced said with a hint of arrogance.
"Ah! Why would you want to see her? She's not easy to deal with, and it will definitely be awkward for us!" the maid said with a slight frown.
