Chapter 434 You Should Read Your Father's Diary
"What are you discussing?"
At that moment, Kakashi came out of the Hokage's office, interrupting Sakura's lecture to Sasuke, he squinted his right eye and said happily, "Lord Hokage has given you 650,000 taels."
"Let's go, I'll treat you today. Let's go have a feast at the barbecue restaurant!"
"Long live Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto shouted with joy.
"Come on, I'll tell you about our next mission on the way. It's scheduled to happen in seven days," Kakashi explained, "It involves helping a film crew persuade a big star to go to the Land of Snow for shooting."
"A big star, huh," Naruto said. "Who is it?"
"No need to rush, I will take you to watch a movie before the seventh day. The main character in it is the person we need to persuade and escort," Kakashi rubbed Naruto's head as he spoke with a smile. "For now, let's go eat barbecue first."
"What about Kosaburo?" Haruno Sakura asked.
"He will pay the price for his crimes of collusion with officials. Lord Hokage has already contacted the lord of the Land of Fire, and they will not let Kosaburo off either. After all, the incident with Kosaburo has impacted the lord's reputation somewhat," Kakashi briefly explained and then led Sakura and the others away from the Hokage building to Tea Street.
"Four servings of barbecue, please."
Inside the barbecue restaurant, Kakashi, leading Sakura and the others, found a table without customers, called over a nearby waiter, and began ordering. "And then a bowl of fries, a plate of fried chicken, and four glasses of orange juice, please."
"No problem, guests," the waiter noted, and just as she looked up, she saw Sakura's figure and exclaimed in surprise, "Sakura, it's you!"
"You are, Haruka," Sakura got up and embraced Haruka. "I didn't expect you to still be working here."
Haruka, a server at this barbecue restaurant, once worked alongside Sakura, which is how they knew each other.
Indeed, over the years, the staff at this barbecue restaurant had changed again and again, but only Haruka had not changed jobs.
"It's a necessity, really. My home is close by, and I'm not married, so I can't just be a housewife," Haruka said with a glowing smile, looking at Kakashi and the others, she said, "This must be the Jonin leader and your companions, right? How nice... Alright, let me serve your food."
After Haruka left, Kakashi chuckled, "Sakura, I didn't realize you knew the barbecue restaurant's server. Do you think she could get us a comp?"
Sakura glared at Kakashi and said, "Kakashi-sensei, you really think too beautiful thoughts. She's not the owner of the restaurant, why would she comp our meal?"
"But speaking of which, Kakashi-sensei, you're still single, right? Haruka is also single. How about I matchmake you two?"
Kakashi hurriedly waved his hands, disagreeing with Sakura's idea, and said, "I really don't know how to deal with family relations. I'm more accustomed to being alone."
"Kakashi-sensei, don't tell me you've never even held a girl's hand," Naruto asked doubtfully, "I heard you graduated from the ninja academy early?"
"Naruto, don't slander me," Kakashi's gaze turned fierce, "I've held more hands than you've eaten meals. Otherwise, how could I possibly have such quick hand speed?"
Naruto was stunned.
Was holding a girl's hand related to ninja hand-sign speed?
But in using ninjutsu, besides requiring a motion for Shadow Clone, Rasengan doesn't seem to need any hand signs, does it?
The genuine article resides on M|V|L&EMPYR.
Sasuke said, "How does this differ from what I know? My mother said that only those ninjas who have not married have very fast hand-sign speeds."
Kakashi: "Sasuke, that only proves one thing—that married ninjas' ninjutsu execution speed drops. You should take this as a warning."
"Is that so?" Sasuke expressed his half-belief, wondering if his father's strength had diminished since marrying his mother.
It seemed indeed so.
He had seen photos of his parents when they were young, particularly his father who was very handsome back then. But now, his face was lined with wrinkles, and he spent most of his time at home, nearly ready to pass on his Police Department duties to his brother, Uchiha Itachi.
Just as Sasuke was about to be misled by Kakashi, Haruno Sakura interrupted Sasuke's thoughts: "Kakashi-sensei is just joking, Sasuke. Don't take it to heart. After all, he always wears a mask, we don't even know what he really looks like."
"Exactly!" Naruto chimed in. "Kakashi-sensei, just take off your mask and let us see what your face really looks like."
Kakashi chuckled and said, "That's a secret. After all, I possess a face that could launch a thousand ships. If I took off my mask, everyone, young and old, would fall under my spell. To prevent you all from being enchanted, I must cover my face."
"You sure are full of yourself, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto retorted.
"Yeah, you're even more narcissistic than Naruto," Sasuke added.
"What did you say? Smug Sasuke!"
"Jerk! Don't just make up nicknames for me, you blockhead Naruto!"
The two argued, but they didn't come to blows, perhaps because they were at a barbecue restaurant and thus restrained themselves. Moreover, it seemed they both actually enjoyed the process of arguing and weren't truly angry at each other's behaviors.
Soon, the barbecue arrived.
The group was eating merrily when suddenly, a cute figure appeared outside the glass window—it was Chino, the bearer of the Kekkei Genkai Blood Dragon Eye.
Although she was already eighteen years old, her slender physique made her look more like a twelve-year-old girl, which made her ill-suited for the Anbu. Besides, she had insisted on meeting Haruno Sakura, so Sarutobi Hiruzen agreed to her request!
The reason was simple.
Ninja who had come out of the ninja arena would not betray their own comrades, especially not the ones who had defeated them, and this girl was special. She possessed a Kekkei Genkai similar to that of the Uchiha Clan, yet it was somewhat inferior and redundant. Therefore, she was allowed to settle in Konoha without having to join the Anbu.
"Chino?"
Naruto asked in surprise, "Why are you outside?"
Chino chuckled and then came in from behind the door, walked up to Sakura and the others, and without any hesitation, sat in Haruno Sakura's lap. She grabbed some grilled meat that Haruno Sakura hadn't finished on her plate and stuffed it into her mouth, her face lighting up with delight, "This is delicious! I've never eaten anything this tasty in the Castle of Yukiyoshi Flame."
"Don't use your hands. It's dirty," Sakura handed Chino some chopsticks.
"Thank you," Chino said, taking the chopsticks and looking a bit awkward. "I saw Yukiyoshi Flame eating grilled meat with a fork and knife. Why do you use chopsticks?"
Sakura corrected her, "Only I use chopsticks because eating it whole is awesome!"
"Exactly, it feels really awesome!" Chino grabbed some grilled meat, licked her fingers, and wolfed it down.
After everyone had finished eating, Kakashi made an excuse to leave first; he needed to figure out how to spend his million ryō—whether to go to a hot spring or buy the latest issue of "Make-Out Paradise"?
What a dilemma.
"Sakura, I'll go home first, to share the experience of my first mission with my parents and brother," Sasuke was the second to take his leave.
"Sakura, I'm heading home too," said Naruto, preparing to leave. Although he was by himself, he wanted to share his experience from his first mission with his most beloved elder, Iruka.
After the two had left, Chino sat across from Sakura and said, "Lady Red Sakura."
"Don't!"
Sakura shook her head, "Here, just call me Sakura. As for being called 'lady,' I'm not worthy of that title. But, why exactly did the Third let you out?"
Chino replied, "Because I'm actually twelve years old."
"Lying about your age, huh?" Sakura's eyebrows slightly raised.
"Of course... not," Chino pouted, "Konoha truly is the strongest ninja village. I did want to lie about my age, but unfortunately, the Anbu sent us to Konoha's hospital for a thorough check-up before they even asked about our identities. They've already figured everything out about my physical condition. Lying is useless now."
"The Third let me go because I kept pestering him... I thought Konoha would forcefully demand that I stay in the Anbu. I didn't expect them to respect my choice," Chino sighed.
"Indeed, it's different here," Sakura chuckled, her voice echoing gently, "But we haven't fully trusted you yet; outside, there are two Anbu watching you."
"What?" Just as Chino was about to turn her head, she found she couldn't move her body. It was as if her bodily energy and mental energy had fused into Chakra, controlling her movements.
"Don't worry, or they'll notice. I'm letting you go now," Haruno Sakura said.
Feeling that her body could move again, Chino let out a sigh of relief and then asked, "Why would Konoha do this?"
"It's simple, if a stranger suddenly came to your house asking to stay, would you be completely at ease?" Haruno Sakura countered, "But they'll only follow you for a few days. As long as you don't act too strangely, they won't interfere with you and will soon be busy with other things. After all, you are just a little girl."
Chino pouted, "Is that really necessary?"
"It can't be helped. The relations between different ninja villages aren't very good; we must always be vigilant against spies," Sakura said with a faint smile, and then handed her a book.
"What's this?" Chino was curious.
"This is the history of your Blood Pool Clan, and moreover, your father is Yukiyoshi Flame," Haruno Sakura revealed astonishingly, and then took out a diary, "This is your father's diary, but I suggest you read the history first."
Chino hesitated for a moment, then picked up the history book and glanced at it. Her eyes immediately turned red with a black one-stroke pupil pattern.
"Angry?"
"Snap!" Chino closed the history book sharply and slammed it on the table, "I just find it a bit contradictory. The Uchiha clan made our Blood Pool Clan be ostracized to what's so-called Hell Valley..."
"Don't rush to blame the Uchiha clan. They were just following orders," Haruno Sakura explained.
"I want to visit Hell Valley," Chino expressed her desire.
"Now, you should take a look at what your father wrote in his diary."
