Journey to the West: Life Simulation of Sun Wukong

Chapter 353: Does Erlang Have a Real Name?

"The Spirit King should not jest!"

The Great Emperor Zhenwu's expression was solemn, an authority naturally emanating from him, "This place is indeed perilous, not suitable for a virtuous true immortal like you to reside in for long!"

Even celestial beings of immense merit and high authority, if not adept in combat, cannot survive here.

For Great Emperor Zhenwu, Sun Wukong was precisely that type of virtuous true immortal who engaged in the work of teaching and transformation.

His mana might not be weak, but he definitely was not adept in combat.

Those with boundless mana, like the Three Pure Ones, capable of creating universes and evolving wondrous laws, aren't skilled in combat; if approached closely and caught off-guard, they too could trip and fall.

That's only natural.

However, were they to prepare in advance, they could indeed suppress the Northern Jambu Continent with their infinite mana, but the living beings there are products of natural evolution, and those with great love would not strike nor use their divine skills to force transformation, necessitating their own experiences and enlightenment.

"Great Emperor Zhenwu does not believe?"

Sun Wukong suddenly smiled, "How about I give a demonstration?"

"Is the Spirit King serious?" Great Emperor Zhenwu, who towered at ten feet tall, looked at Sun Wukong, who was only about six to seven feet tall, with intense skepticism—was the Spirit King here to make light of him?

"I, Old Sun, do not fancy joking." Sun Wukong trembled, and his Phoenix Feathered Purple Gold Crown, Lock-Child Gold Armor, and Cloud-Stepping Shoes appeared on him.

Majestic and brimming with fighting spirit!

Great Emperor Zhenwu was startled and scrutinized the Sun Wukong before him, sensing in that small body the ability to overturn seas and move mountains.

"Good!"

Great Emperor Zhenwu laughed heartily, "Let us go outside and have a contest, without using spells, only comparing martial prowess and divine skills. What does the Spirit King think?"

"It is exactly to my liking!"

Sun Wukong snickered, then somersaulted up into the high heavens.

"This Cloud Soaring Skill!"

Great Emperor Zhenwu was astonished, "There is probably none faster than this in our realm."

Having expressed his admiration, Great Emperor Zhenwu also took to the skies, ascending swiftly to confront Sun Wukong at the summit of the clouds, "Spirit King, I take back my previous words. You truly deserve a place here, but competing against me, you might still fall short."

Sun Wukong, holding the Ruyi Jingu Bang, pointed it at Great Emperor Zhenwu and said very bluntly, "Empty words are easy to utter, let's see the truth in action."

A strike!

In just a moment, Sun Wukong had already swung his staff, stirring up the winds and clouds, gathering the forces of the dragon and tiger, making the spiritual energy of the heavens fluctuate.

"Such speed!"

Great Emperor Zhenwu's eyes tightened as he held the Yin-Yang Sword, blocking the strike.

Instantly! Content first released on M_VLEM_PYR.

Great Emperor Zhenwu felt a tremendous force press upon his arm, causing a tingling numbness; only by exerting his full strength was he able to break free.

"Such great power!"

The staff was heavy, and its force was enormous.

Initially, Great Emperor Zhenwu thought he would need only to exert a fraction of his strength and just play along with Sun Wukong, but now it felt like even twelve times that might not surpass his strength.

How strange!

That small body was not as robust as his own, where did such immense strength come from?

Unfortunately, this was not the time to ponder these questions; he simply held onto his Yin-Yang Sword, parrying Sun Wukong's Ruyi Jingu Bang repeatedly, from left to right, barely able to defend without the chance to attack.

"Ha! Take this move!"

Great Emperor Zhenwu finally caught his breath after Sun Wukong's relenting, and began to counterattack.

It was indeed:

The yin-yang treasure sword is sharp, the Ruyi iron staff lets no wind pass through.

This is the Great Marshal of Demons Subjugation Zhenwu, that is the spirit from the primal split of heaven and earth.

The clash of sword and staff rang out metallically, thunderous roars and stormy winds shook the heavens.

Frightening the demons of Mountain of Ten Thousand Demons to hide, causing the creatures of the mortal world to scatter and hide.

Under Sun Wukong's intentional easing, the two of them fought until the sky darkened and the sun and moon lost their light. After three hundred rounds, Great Emperor Zhenwu was slightly breathless, clearly exhausted and only kept going by sheer will.

Sun Wukong, however, was spirited and showed no sign of fatigue. He parried Great Emperor Zhenwu's strike with his staff and chuckled, "Great Emperor Zhenwu, have you tested the mettle of old Sun?"

Great Emperor Zhenwu instantly realized that this was an out, immediately sheathed his treasure sword, and laughed heartily, "Spirit King, your martial skills are superior, and your divine powers vast, I admit my inferiority."

However, Zhenwu was not disappointed.

He is a Great Emperor, his primary duties are command and leadership, not martial or divine prowess, thus he cannot be indifferent to defeat.

"The Emperor is modest, Old Sun merely had a slight upper hand," Sun Wukong chuckled, familiarly placing his arm around Great Emperor Zhenwu's shoulder, and they returned inside the commanding tent to drink and be merry.

The two did not fight without gaining mutual knowledge, and between them, they became friends and swore brotherhood.

Since Zhenwu was older, Sun Wukong willingly took the junior position.

"Younger brother Wukong, I only have vegetarian wine here, as I have to keep guard and cannot afford to be too unrestrained; I hope you understand." Great Emperor Zhenwu apologized slightly.

When immortals drink, they naturally have the ability to neutralize alcohol with mana, but what would be the point of drinking then?

However, due to his responsibilities, Zhenwu could only consume very light vegetarian wine.

"Old Sun likes vegetarian meals too, vegetarian wine is fine by me, but I had just gone up to heaven for my duties, and the Jade Emperor had rewarded me with Jadescent Nectar. I just didn't bring it out," laughed Sun Wukong, raising his wine cup to drink with Zhenwu.

Upon hearing about Jadescent Nectar, Zhenwu couldn't help but lick his lips, saying, "Brother Wukong, let's bring it out. Jadescent Nectar is no ordinary Spiritual Wine, and drinking it won't be an issue."

"True-hearted and generous, Elder brother Zhenwu!" Sun Wukong gave a thumbs up, took out the Jadescent Nectar, and began a new round of the feast. The attendants Yuyan, Iron Fan, and other guests including Zhenwu's Turtle and Snake Generals, Golden Boy, and Jade Girl joined the table, raising toasts and making merry.

"Elder brother, are you here mainly for those four demons?" Sun Wukong asked.

"Exactly," nodded Great Emperor Zhenwu, "originally there were five, but for some reason, one disappeared, presumably sneaking off from the Northern Jambu Continent to another realm."

"That does make things a bit easier for me."

"But the remaining four, Peng Demon King, Lion Camel King, Yurong King, and Mi Monkey King, they all are demons filled with brutal malevolence and filled with ambitious schemes, and are difficult to subdue."

Sun Wukong nodded, asking, "I recall that heaven has deities of the Thunder Ministry, beings of slaughter meant to subdue demons and eliminate evil, why not summon them over?"

"They also have their duties, guarding heaven and rotating the watch over the four heavenly gates, they cannot be easily moved," Great Emperor Zhenwu shook his head. The thirty-six Thunder Generals are the last resort of heaven. Once they are unable to subdue the demons, only then might they request Lord Laozi or Buddha to step in.

However, if there are demons that the thirty-six Thunder Generals cannot subdue, the Jade Emperor typically asks the Buddha from the West, rather than Laozi who resides in the palace of the Thirty-Three Heavens.

For Laozi governs with non-action, involving himself only if it pertains to the Nine-Turns Elixir he has created or involves enfeoffing related Immortals or if a great demon threatens to destroy humanity. Generally, he is found in the Doushuai Temple practicing alchemy, discussing the mysteries of primal chaos with Yuanshi Tianzun and Lingbao Tianzun, inviting immortals to lectures, or descending to the mortal world to test and potentially reward mortals with his elixirs.

"I see, then what about Zhao Hui Ling Xian King at Guan River Mouth in the Nanshan Continent?" Sun Wukong inquired.

"He indeed has vast divine powers, and with the Law of Heaven and Earth's Great Divine Power, he might even surpass me in strength and could possibly match you," Great Emperor Zhenwu put down his wine cup and thought for a moment before saying, "But he is the Jade Emperor's nephew, the son of the Jade Emperor's sister who descended to the mortal realm to be with Yang, known as Erlang."

"I have also heard of him, but is this Erlang renowned?" Sun Wukong curiously asked; his True Spirit, during his trials in the heavenly realms, had come across the book of Deities.

Although it had not manifested in these Three Realms, there were descriptions of similar figures, hence his curiosity.

Great Emperor Zhenwu replied, "He is not."
