Journey to the West: Life Simulation of Sun Wukong

Chapter 270: Simulation: Overwhelming Battle

"Huang really is the epitome of hypocrisy."

Ma Bangde also glanced back at Huang, riding his horse up to Zhang Muzhi, pouting and sleazy, "But you, you are a true hero!"

Zhang Muzhi gave Ma Bangde a look and dismissed him as if he had farted, "When the real fight starts, run as far as you can."

Ma Bangde was stunned, "Run?"

"That's right, run."

Zhang Muzhi said, "Huang never intended for all of us to survive."

Ma Bangde still hadn't grasped the situation, "Aren't the Red Bandits on our side? And according to intelligence, can't each of them fight ten at a time? Is there really a need to fear these two hundred dead soldiers?"

"They are not afraid, but these dead soldiers, they need to worry since Huang's way of doing things is to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs."

Zhang Muzhi sneered, "In Goose City, he can only rely on underhanded tactics, guiding the city folk, seizing the moral high ground, seizing the discourse power."

"But outside the city, he doesn't need to bother. If we die, he can report that we were slaughtered by bandits."

"Don't tell me, as a government advisor, you didn't know this."

"Or perhaps, I should call you Ma."

Ma Bangde didn't pretend to be confused anymore and hastily waved his hand, whispering, "No! No! No! You're the one who should be Ma. I'm just a Tang, and I'll surely run faster than anyone else when the time comes."

As he said this, Ma Bangde hesitated again, but finally whispered in Zhang Muzhi's ear, "What if we run together?"

It was not that Ma Bangde had developed a bit of affection for Zhang Muzhi... maybe a little, but more so, he had recognized Zhang Muzhi's prowess. If he could stick with him, there would be plenty of opportunities to make a fortune in the future.

How could one not strive to win over such a capable and broad-minded individual?

"You're still thinking about dollars," Zhang Muzhi said speechlessly. Ma Bangde might barely pass for a strategist, but he had one flaw: excessive greed.

"You just don't get it, do you? Being broke is something I can't afford." Ma Bangde said earnestly, "As for dollars, it depends on the situation. If it's a small amount, I won't bother. But if it's more than a million, that's when I'll make a move."

Zhang Muzhi said nothing more, just sneered.

This advisor had some conscience, but not much. Although capable of genuine emotion, if the stakes were high enough, he would certainly sell out those close to him. Now inviting Zhang Muzhi to run with him was not because they had grown close; it was because he valued Zhang Muzhi's abilities.

Regardless, Zhang Muzhi was officially recognized as a bandit, so this advisor could "collude" with them, and even dared to discuss sharing money within the team, clearly seeing himself as one of them.

"Boss, we've got two hundred dead soldiers following us. What are we going to do?" The second-in-command approached and asked quietly, "Even if Sun Mingyi and the others are each braver than the last, I'm afraid they won't be able to watch out for us."

The seventh brother also joined in, "We can't pin our hopes on others."

Zhang Muzhi said indifferently, "I have it figured out."

The second-in-command nodded; he trusted Zhang Muzhi.

The seventh brother's eyes flickered. Hearing this, the third, fourth, and fifth brothers all had their thoughts but still chose to trust Zhang Muzhi.

Ma Bangde didn't know whether Zhang Muzhi truly had a way to save himself, but he had to find a way to protect himself, and so he pulled on the reins, claiming he needed to use the bathroom.

He thought about running ahead of time.

However, Ma Bangde found two of the dead soldiers following closely behind him, ostensibly to protect him but really to keep watch.

"Just as Zhang Mazai said, that son of a bitch Huang wants to get rid of us as soon as possible," Ma Bangde murmured to himself. After pretentiously urinating, he mounted his horse, caught up with Zhang Muzhi and others, and made his way to the seventh brother's side.

He intended to win over the seventh brother.

Among Zhang Muzhi and his group, this seventh brother was the youngest and the most afraid of death.

How he knew this was evident from the fact that the young man had been the first to suggest leaving Goose City upon receiving the money from the two major families, even quicker than Ma Bangde himself, who was known to fear death.

Remember, at the gravesite of the sixth brother, all had sworn to avenge the little one.

But the seventh brother had been the quickest to forsake their oath.

The others, the third and fourth brothers, although they also wanted to leave, ultimately restrained themselves.

Therefore, Ma Bangde felt that if he couldn't convince Zhang Muzhi, then convincing this seventh brother, who was only slightly more moral than himself, should be a bit easier.

Young people are often the most fickle-minded.

Zhang Muzhi glanced at the two whispering to each other but said nothing. After all, he was not sure whether his side would survive the upcoming battle.

He just hoped that Sun Mingyi and their hidden cards could truly handle these two hundred dead soldiers...

...

"Captain, Zhang Muzhi and his team are on their way," a beam of golden light descended from the sky and landed in the clearing of the mountain stronghold, unnoticed by everyone else.

"Yuzi, you're getting better and better at controlling the Wings of the Angel. Now you can make it so only certain people can see your form," Su Jie praised.

"I'm not that good," Chen Tian Yuzi said modestly with a shy smile.

"Now, shall we take the initiative to strike, or wait for them to come to us?" Zhang Manman asked casually. Whatever scheme those two hundred dead soldiers had, it was inconsequential to them.

To have an overwhelming advantage here was to crush the other side.

"We stick to the plan, after all, we've got to rescue Zhang Muzhi and the others," Su Jie said, "They can't die."

"Understood."

Zhang Manman nodded, took twenty classmates and over two hundred gathered villagers, and descended the mountain.

"Deputy squad leader, are we just going to wait here?"

The speaker was Liang Zhichao, seeking the location of the ambush from Zhang Manman.

After leaving the stronghold, the group maneuvered through the woods and the trails to reach the mountain depression that Zhang Muzhi and others would pass, ready to lie in ambush.

"Just hide around here, I've already sensed their vitality," nodded Zhang Manman. "When the time comes, you and the other eleven students will take action immediately, take Zhang Muzhi and others, including Ma Bangde, away from the crowd, and then have the other villagers open fire."

"Understood."

Liang Zhichao nodded, arranged for the students to hide, and then instructed the villagers' guerrilla team to aim the guns they bought with Huang's silver from the munitions dealer in the nearby county, targeting the mountain depression and waiting for their command to open fire.

Although they had only learned to fire guns in the last half month and had no real accuracy, with over two hundred people, as long as the barrels were pointed in the general direction, they would surely hit something.

Half an hour later, Zhang Muzhi and his group had arrived.

"Go!"

Liang Zhichao, taking the lead, charged out like thunder, swooping out like a bird, grabbed Zhang Muzhi off his horse, and ran to the side.

Ma Bangde and the others had not yet reacted when another person burst out, tackled Ma Bangde and several of Zhang Muzhi's brothers off their horses, closely following Liang Zhichao.

Zhang Muzhi and the others quickly realized these were their own people, and thus put up no resistance, letting themselves be carried away.

"Bang!"

The first gunshot echoed through the mountain depression, followed by a relentless succession of gunfire.

In the mountain depression, the devoted fighters also realized what was happening, raised their guns, and began firing at random into the surrounding area, but because they couldn't see their targets, their shots were haphazard.

Boom!

A bullet hit one of the explosives on a devoted fighter's body, resulting in an explosion. Thе rеfеrеnсе vеrsiоn оf this сhаptеr is оn М*V*LЕМРYR.

Once some explosives detonated, it caused a chain reaction, making the explosives on nearby people overheat and explode as well.

Rumble!

For a moment, the sound of explosions was continuous.

The devoted fighters then separated, realizing what was happening.

Although they were prepared to die, their death needed to be worthwhile; they couldn't just die in vain.

However, just from those few explosions, nearly two-thirds of them had died, and the remaining third, no longer desiring to fight, started to retreat.

But how could Zhang Manman allow them to go back and report to Huang?

They would just have to keep their secret.

In an instant, all the Ming Lun students took action. With every move, another life was taken.

For those students, such scenes had become commonplace in their history lessons, and thus their hearts did not waver in the slightest.

In just fifteen minutes, the remaining third were all slain by Ming Lun students. There were no captives; none at all.

After all, those devoted fighters had explosives strapped to them, and for safety reasons, it was best to eliminate them all.

Not to mention, for most of the students, these people were merely NPCs.

"Impressive skills, everyone," Zhang Muzhi was stunned for a while before he gave Zhang Manman, who approached him, a thumbs up. "I thought Sun Mingyi, who practiced his martial arts to the point of being unafraid of swords and guns, was already a master among masters. I never expected you all to have trained your internal energy to such an extent that you can harden your bodies. I'm impressed."

Zhang Muzhi had long investigated Zhang Manman and the others' identities back in Goose City; they were all ordinary young men, young women, youths, and women.

But their performance was anything but ordinary.

They were deeply hidden!

Zhang Muzhi felt a chill in his heart.

Ma straightened his sleeves, looking radiant. He complimented, "The heroine truly is the modern-day Hua Mulan, showing that women can match men in bravery."

Zhang Manman just hummed in response, not saying much to Zhang Muzhi and the others, only instructing Liang Zhichao to clean up the bodies in the depression while she led Zhang Muzhi and the rest up the mountain.

In the stronghold's main hall, Su Jie brewed tea for Zhang Muzhi and his companions, saying, "Thank you for your help in delaying them, Commissioner."

"It was nothing," Zhang Muzhi waved it off casually, not inquiring about the nature of Su Jie's subordinates. He had come to believe that Su Jie and he were of the same kind.

On his way, he saw the village within the stronghold; the houses were mostly new, presumably built in the last half month. The settlers here were different from the civilians of Goose City.

Their eyes held a glimmer of hope, a longing for a better life.

"Let's talk about the real business," Zhang Muzhi, now filled with great confidence in overthrowing Huang, spoke up. "The corpses of Mazai's men haven't decomposed, have they?"

"We have special ways to preserve them; they won't rot," replied Su Jie, whose vitality had reached 49. Although she couldn't influence the weather, she could create a layer of ice around the bodies to lower the temperature and prevent decomposition.

"That's good. Otherwise, I would have had to pick a couple from those dead devoted fighters," chuckled Zhang Muzhi.

"A couple won't do," Su Jie shook her head. "After all, the rumors in Goose City make it out like we red bandits number in the hundreds. We should at least haul a hundred of them. Moreover, these devoted fighters have explosives attached to them; you can use this to put pressure on Huang."
