After finishing his speech, the Grand Taoist ascended a three-meter-high platform on the altar. The platform had flags of the Twenty-Eight Mansions planted on it, along with a table and two candlestands on either side. In the center, there was an incense burner, emitting plumes of fragrant smoke.
Leaning against the edge of the burner was a gold plaque engraved with the name of the Thunder God. Below it were five large urns filled with clear water, on which willow branches floated. Supported by the willow branches was an iron plaque inscribed with the talisman characters of the Thunder Master. On both sides were five large posts, on which were inscribed the names of the Five Directions Barbaric Thunder Envoys. Next to each post stood two Taoists, each holding a hammer, ready to drive the posts. Many Taoists were behind the platform, busy writing documents. In the center, a paper furnace was set up, and several paper figurines, as lifelike as real people, stood there, representing the gods of land and ceremony.
The Grand Taoist steadied himself, and a young Taoist beside him presented several yellow papers and a precious sword, which he handed over to the Grand Taoist.
The Grand Taoist, without wasting words, held the sword in one hand and chanted a spell. Then, with a flick of his hand, the yellow papers soared into the sky. The Grand Taoist drew talismans on them in mid-air; the talismans fell and caught fire from the candle, igniting into a ball of fire that floated in the air and lingered for a long time.
Two or three more Taoists brought over a paper figurine tasked with holding the command and a document.
The Grand Taoist flicked his finger, sending a burst of candle flame which incinerated them.
At the same time, there was a loud bang on the table, and a wind began to blow slowly, causing the twenty-four flags to flutter.
Zhu Ganglie said, "This Taoist truly has some skills. With just a clink, he indeed brought the wind. Master, it seems we are likely to lose this time."
However, Tang Sanzang remained unmoved. Sun Wukong scratched his head beside him, hesitating to speak several times.
The Grand Taoist then picked up another token, burned another talisman paper, and struck the void. Suddenly, dark clouds densely covered the sky.
Zhu Ganglie grew anxious, "Big brother, you need to think of something quickly. This guy really seems capable of summoning rain. Though it's not our master who will be humiliated, it's our people who will be shamed along with Tang Sanzang!"
Sun Wukong was also worried and said in a low voice, "It's not that there are no options. As long as I go up and chase away those gods causing the wind and clouds with my cudgel, all this will disperse. But if we do that, it won't be long before celestial soldiers come to capture us."
Zhu Ganglie quickly said, "Then let's not. Let's just face the humiliation; it's better than being taken to the Immortal Slaying Stage."
Sun Wukong looked again at Tang Sanzang. Tang Sanzang was still unfazed. Sun Wukong thought to himself, "Could it be that master is confident? Does he know that they definitely can't summon rain?"
Trusting this formidable bald monk, Sun Wukong calmed down.
The Grand Taoist held the sword, disheveled his hair, chanted spells, and after a series of actions burning the talisman papers, he raised his hand and the token exploded with a bang!
Lightning streaked across the dark clouds followed by thunderous roars so loud that those present covered their ears.
Sha Wujing said, "I understand now. This Taoist is using the authentic Five Thunder Method, a genuine Taoist orthodox technique."
Zhu Ganglie asked, "Brother Sha, what do you mean by that?"
Sha Wujing said, "Second brother, look carefully. The one creating the wind is Granny Wind and Xun Erlang; managing the clouds are the Cloud Youth and Fog Lang, attendants of the Nine Heavens Responding Thunder Sage; the thunder is by Lord Thunder; and the lightning is by Lady Lightning. These are the standard procedures of celestial weather management, clearly proving that the earlier document burned by the Grand Taoist was not a deception but rather a petition to the Jade Emperor for rain. Now that Granny Wind and others have arrived, it indicates that the Jade Emperor has approved this rainfall.
With the command issued by the Jade Emperor, the rain is set to fall!"
Zhu Ganglie said, "Impressive, to be able to command rain through official channels. This Taoist really has some prowess. Just one more command and the rain will start; it seems we're definitely going to lose."
Just then, Tang Sanzang slowly stood up, straightened his robe, and said, "Rain? I didn't allow him to make it rain, and who else could?"
Upon hearing this, Grand Taoists Yangli and Luli, along with the king of the Chechi kingdom, burst into laughter. Even the Grand Preceptor shook his head with a bitter smile, seeming to say, 'see you're still defiant even at your end.'
Great Immortal Sheep burst into laughter and said, "Tang Sanzang, who do you think you are? Let's not even mention that you're just a mortal now, even if you were still the Golden Cicada from Mount Ling, or even if the Buddha himself were here, the rain that's meant to fall today would still fall!"
Great Immortal Deer stated, "My brother is using the official Five Thunder Ritual of Summoning Rain, following the procedures of the officials. This is rain decreed by the Jade Emperor, under the heavens, who dares to block it?"
Great Immortal Sheep continued, "To stop this rain is to defy the current Jade Emperor himself, akin to rebellion! Recall the Dragon King of Jing River who merely caused a bit too much rain and ended up on the Dragon-Slicing Stage. Let alone stop such needed rain? Tang Sanzang, you better concede early!"
Tang Sanzang tilted his head and looked at them, "Oh? Concede? Sorry, my dictionary doesn't include the words 'concede'."
"You can't seriously believe you can stop this rain, right?" roared Great Immortal Sheep, laughing.
Tanz Sanzang looked up at the sky and took a couple of steps forward, cracked his wrists, and turned his neck as if warming up.
Seeing this, Great Immortal Deer said, "Tang Sanzang, warming up again? You can't possibly think that the few years of martial arts you practiced can stop this sweet rain, right? Hahaha..."
With that said, many of the officials present burst into laughter.
But Tang Sanzang didn't even glance at them...
At that moment, Great Immortal Tiger lifted his command token: "Let the rain come!"
The Dragon Kings of the Four Seas, Ao Guang, Ao Shun, Ao Qin, and Ao Run, arrived in the sky, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then immediately performed their magic: "Let the rain come!"
Whoosh...
And in an instant, the torrential rain fell!
Seeing this, Great Immortals Tiger, Deer, Sheep, and the King of the Land of Wheels all laughed and simultaneously turned towards Tang Sanzang, saying, "Monk, it seems you're about to lose."
Tang Sanzang tilted his head to look at them and said, "The rain hasn't touched the ground yet, so it doesn't count!"
"What do you mean?" the group was startled.
The rain had already passed their shoulders and was inches from the ground, yet he still made such a claim? What was the point?
At that moment, Tang Sanzang stamped his foot!

Boom!
A loud noise erupted, and violent power shook the earth, making the entire Land of Wheels seem to tremble!
The earth roared, and a surge of earth energy burst forth, sending the rain that was about to hit the ground back into the sky!
Upon seeing this, everyone except for the disciples of Tang Sanzang gaped in shock, their jaws almost dropping and their eyes nearly popping out as they exclaimed, "Holy cow!"
The deities controlling the rain were also startled, a single stomp causing the land within tens of thousands of miles to tremble, yet the earth remained intact, gushing with energy—what immense power was this?
Before they could recover from their shock, Tang Sanzang straightened up, drew back his fist, and aimed at the sky, declaring, "When the monk says there will be no rain, there shall be no rain!"
