Journey to Godhood Begins in Frieren

Chapter 262: Eriri's Thoughts

"You're…?"

Shichen let go of Yatogami Tohka and looked at the blonde girl with twin-tails, pretending not to recognize her.

She wore the same blue-and-white summer school uniform as Tohka. Her figure was petite, her golden hair gleamed like polished art, her skin was porcelain-smooth, and her clear blue eyes sparkled with anticipation…

Shichen blanked out for a second.

Seeing someone in person again—someone he never thought he'd see—left him a little stunned.

"P-Prince Onii-chan… you don't remember me?" Eriri asked nervously, flustered.

"You know Shichen?" Tohka asked curiously. "Why do you call him 'Prince Onii-chan'?"

"Well... when I was little, he saved me. Like a real prince."

Eriri smiled brightly, her little fang peeking out like usual.

"Seriously? That happened?"

Tohka turned to Shichen, surprised. "Is that true?"

"Probably," Shichen nodded gently.

"'Probably'?"

"I'll explain later. This isn't the place. Let's head back first. Eriri—mind if I call you that?"

"Of course not! That's what you always called me, Prince Onii-chan!"

"Alright then. You wanna come with us?"

"Yes!" Eriri nodded immediately.

"Let's go," Shichen smiled.

"Mmhmm."

Eriri stared in awe—his smile was exactly the same as she remembered from years ago.

"Heh~"

A cold laugh came from the side. Kasumigaoka Utaha had been silent the whole time, arms crossed.

"What's your deal?"

Eriri bared her fang, clearly annoyed.

"Awfully giddy, aren't you?" Utaha's tone dripped with sarcasm.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Crushing on someone else's guy?"

"Prince Onii-chan is… your boyfriend?" Eriri frowned.

"Obviously."

"Then why did you pretend not to know him when I asked before?"

"Why should I tell you? So you can try to steal him from me?" Utaha shot back.

"You—!"

"Wow. You act so proper at school, but deep down you're a man-stealing little snake," Utaha sneered.

"Oh really? If anything, Prince Onii-chan seems more like Tohka's boyfriend," Eriri smirked.

"Ooh~ You sure know a lot. Been digging around?"

"Hmph, I'm not that kind of girl."

"Really?" Utaha looked over at Tohka.

"She's right," Tohka nodded. "I was the one who told her. I missed Shichen so much, I couldn't help talking about him."

"Fair enough."

"What do you mean, 'fair enough'? Are you messing with me or not?"

"Why would I need to?"

Utaha smiled, walked over, and wrapped herself around Shichen's arm.

"Believe me now?"

"You—you're actually fighting Tohka over Prince Onii-chan?!"

"No, I think you're confused."

Utaha gave a sly grin.

"Confused?"

"Tohka and I—we're both with Shichen."

"Wait, what?"

Eriri froze.

"It's true," Tohka giggled, hugging his other arm.

"Prince Onii-chan… what's going on?" Eriri asked, stunned.

"Just like Utaha said," Shichen nodded.

"So yeah," Utaha said with a smirk, "you might wanna let go of that little fantasy of yours."

"I…"

"Why are you so aggressive toward her?" Shichen asked, frowning.

"Am I?" Utaha blinked innocently.

"Forget it…" Shichen sighed. He turned to Eriri. "Still want to come with us? I might not be the prince you imagined."

"I do. You're still Prince Onii-chan to me."

Eriri's eyes were steady.

"Alright then. We'll talk more once we're back. Utaha—ease up on her."

"Tch. She's not even in the house yet and you're already playing favorites."

Utaha rolled her eyes.

"You itching for a fight?"

"What, gonna spank me? Go ahead~"

Utaha winked playfully.

"…What happened to you?" Shichen frowned. "You weren't like this."

"Your fault for unlocking me~" she teased.

"Utaha! What exactly are you doing to Prince Onii-chan?!" Eriri glared furiously.

"What am I doing?"

Utaha looked her up and down, then smirked. "Tch. You're just a kid—you wouldn't get it."

"K-Kid…?! Say that again!"

Eriri's face went bright red.

"Come on, someone your size? Shichen's not into that."

"I-I'm still growing!" Eriri shouted.

"Yeah yeah, keep dreaming. Even middle schoolers have more going on."

"You… trying to say I'm stealing him?"

"Please. I've known Prince Onii-chan way longer than you."

"Oh yeah? Then how come he doesn't remember you?"

"Prince Onii-chan…?"

Eriri looked at Shichen with pleading eyes.

"Cough… Strictly speaking, I guess we only just reunited," Shichen said honestly.

"No way…" Eriri looked shaken.

"Don't worry, I'll explain everything later," Shichen reassured her.

"Explain…?"

"Let's get home first. And Utaha—stop teasing her."

"Okay, okay~"

"Let's go, Eriri."

"Right."

She quickly caught up and followed the group from behind.

Back at the café, Shichen opened the door—only to be greeted by a towering maid in uniform.

"Shichen‑nii~ You're back!"

"Shichen-dono!"

Tohru leapt at him.

Shichen broke free from the girls and caught her mid-air. The hug was strong—his chest took the full impact.

"I missed you so much~"

Despite being nearly 6 feet tall, Tohru nuzzled against him like a spoiled child. Her big green tail wagged cheerfully behind her.

"I missed you too, Tohru."

"Wait… that maid too?"

Eriri, who had just entered, finally realized how bad the situation was.

When she arrived earlier with Tohka, Shichen wasn't home, so she hadn't thought much of it. But after Utaha's bombshell, and now this—it was obvious: all the women here had some kind of thing with her Prince Onii-chan!

"Guess she's not completely clueless," Utaha remarked.

"You—"

Eriri held back, then asked through clenched teeth, "What about those two over there? What's their relationship with Prince Onii-chan?"

She was referring to Chisato and Takina.

"Oh, them?"

Utaha smirked. "One's already in the club. The other's… not quite there yet."

"'Not quite'...?"

Eriri bit her lip.

"Heh. Just give up already," Utaha said with a grin.

"Give up? No way! I've been looking for Prince Onii-chan for ten years! Wait a second—you—why are you okay sharing him?!"

"What's the problem?" Utaha replied sweetly.

"You seriously don't see what's wrong with that?!"

"What can I say? Shichen loves me so much—how could I say no when he wants me all to himself?"

"You…"

Eriri twitched.

"I already belong to him. I mean, what choice do I have?"

Utaha said it without shame.

"You're already his…? F-For real?"

Eriri started panicking and stammered.

"Why would I lie?"

"Heh~ This place isn't for outsiders. Every girl here has some kind of thing with Shichen."

"I… I can…"

"Hmm?"

"I can too!"

Eriri suddenly shouted.

Everyone turned to stare.

"Uh—I mean…"

Under the attention, she waved her hands awkwardly.

"Well then. If you really mean that…"

Utaha gave her a knowing look.

"What are you two even talking about?" Shichen asked.

"It's nothing. Just girl talk."

"Uh-huh. Doesn't sound like nothing."

"How could you not trust me~?"

Utaha pouted cutely.

Shichen was still adjusting to this side of her—ever since they'd gotten intimate, she'd totally dropped the act.

"Tohru, has Utaha always been like this lately?"

"Nope."

Tohru shook her head, confused. "This is new…"

"Oh yeah—Shichen-dono, why'd you bring her back too?"

Tohru narrowed her eyes at Eriri.
