Chapter 256: Yami became Familiar
"Shichen…"
The two of them held each other in silence for a moment before Yami suddenly spoke.
"Hm? What's up?"
She gently stepped out of his embrace, looked up at him with a serious expression.
"Can you help me control that… the Darkness thing?"
"You want to control it?"
"Yeah. I mean, if people are calling it a 'cosmic bomb,' I really don't want to leave it unchecked." She nodded earnestly.
"Got it." Shichen reached out and gave her head a gentle rub.
Yami might be called the universe's top assassin, but she was surprisingly kind-hearted underneath.
Even in her line of work, she had her own principles.
"So… can you actually do it?" she asked again.
"Pretty sure I can." He nodded confidently.
"Then please! Help me!" she blurted out.
"Dummy." He flicked her forehead.
"Ow?" She blinked, rubbing the spot, a little confused.
"Why are you saying 'please' to me? What's our relationship again?"
"Uh…" Yami immediately caught his meaning. Her mind flashed back to the night a couple days ago and… yeah, she couldn't even respond.
"No more being polite with me, got it?" he said.
"Okay…"
"If you really want something, just kiss me. That's enough—I'd say yes to anything."
"I—I don't like pervy stuff…" she muttered.
"That's fine. You keep hating it. I'll keep loving it." Shichen grinned, totally unbothered.
Yami gave him a helpless look.
"So?" he teased with a wink.
"…Didn't I already kiss you just now?" she asked, cheeks flushed.
"That one doesn't count. And if you don't kiss me for real, I might not be able to help you."
"Huh? What do you mean?" she tilted her head in confusion.
"Kiss me and find out." He leaned down slightly to make it easier.
Yami pressed her lips together, hesitated, then leaned in slowly.
Shichen didn't move—until she kissed him. Then suddenly, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, deepening the kiss.
Yami froze. She hadn't expected… that. Her mind blanked out, and all she could do was stand there, wide-eyed, letting him take the lead.
Before long, Shichen started getting handsy. In just a blink, he reached those familiar spots he always seemed to find in the mornings.
"Mmmph!" Her eyes widened in surprise.
He kept kissing her, eyes open, lips smiling. Clearly enjoying her flustered reaction.
Eventually, since Yami hadn't figured out how to breathe mid-kiss, he pulled away first—but his hands didn't budge.
She took a couple deep breaths, trying to compose herself… until she looked up.
His eyes were glowing bright red. Fangs had grown out.
"Wha—what's happening?" she asked, stunned.
"Just part of the process." Shichen lowered his head and gently bit into her neck.
"Ah…"
A soft moan escaped before she could stop it. Her mind flashed back again—so this was why she hadn't slept well that night.
"You're not… doing that again, are you?" she asked nervously.
"Nah, chill." He pulled back. His lips were blood red now.
A thin line of blood ran down her neck—bright, fresh.
"Then why are you drinking my blood again?"
"To help you control Darkness, obviously." He went right back in, biting and slowly drawing her blood.
Once he'd had enough, Shichen began channeling his magic into her body.
He was assimilating her—making her a part of him. A familiar, a bonded being.
Once she became one with his power, controlling her would be a breeze.
And it wasn't even difficult. Yami was a bio-weapon. Converting her into a magical entity? Piece of cake.
Shichen had done this before—with girls like Tohka. He had it down to a science.
If it worked this easily with Yami, then maybe even Frieren and the others could be absorbed the same way.
And sure enough, it was smooth. Within two and a half minutes, she was fully assimilated—part of his bloodstream, his power, his "familiar."
But… there was one little thing Shichen forgot.
"Wait… who are you?" Yami's voice echoed from inside him.
"Don't worry about it," a calm voice replied.
It was Yatogami Tenka.
She hadn't stayed behind with Tohka, and since coming to this world, she'd been completely silent. Shichen had almost forgotten she was still inside him.
"Shichen, who is she?" Yami realized her situation instantly.
"That's Yatogami Tenka. My daughter."
"…Daughter?"
"Who's your daughter, you idiot?!" Tenka's voice thundered.
"Don't mind her, Yami. She's just going through a rebellious phase."
"Screw off!!"
"…Seriously, what's going on?"
"Doesn't matter. You'll understand eventually. Just focus on yourself for now."
With her current condition, Shichen could take her to other worlds easily. Once she saw Tohka's world, it'd all make sense.
"Alright."
Compared to Tenka, Darkness was definitely more important. Maybe she'd just overthought things.
She checked herself—and sure enough, she could now control Darkness effortlessly.
"Shichen… is this really happening?" Her voice trembled a little.
"Looks like it worked, huh?"
"Yeah…"
"Then take your time and get used to it. You'll also want to meet everyone else in here."
"Everyone…?"
Only now did Yami realize—thanks to Shichen's reminder—that there were others.
Not just the cool-looking girl, but several massive, overwhelming presences.
A divine light like a rainbow. A pure silver sanctity. A deep blue authority. A fierce red ferocity…
Shichen had a lot of terrifying beings inside him.
Looking back, it made sense. He could've handled her any time he wanted.
The moment she met him, her life had already stopped being her own.
Weirdly enough… now she was glad she'd taken the mission to kill him.
…
The Next Morning – Saturday
Even though Kotosugawa Yui had said she wouldn't be coming, she still showed up first thing in the morning.
Shichen woke up to her furiously pressing the doorbell.
The moment his mind cleared, he realized he was wrapped in soft, bare skin. He glanced around, sighed, and sat up.
Now that Est was here to keep Lala company, she'd gone right back to sleeping stark naked.
Thank god Yui came early. If he'd woken up alone, he'd have had to stash Est fast—no one needed to see what morning Shichen was like.
And if Yui didn't stay over tonight, he might just give her the full experience tomorrow.
"Mmm… Shichen, what's wrong?" Lala stirred as his arm slipped free.
"It's nothing. Yui's here. I'll go let her in." He gave her cheek a gentle squeeze.
"Yui's here?"
Lala perked up, sitting up excitedly. "Let's go greet her together!"
"Nope. Clothes first."
"That's easy! Peke!"
"Hmm? Lala-sama?" Peke mumbled as he popped up from the end of the bed.
"Get me dressed, quick!"
"Understood."
Peke floated over and summoned a cute pink pajama set onto her body.
"Hehe~ Let's go!" Lala latched onto Shichen.
"Alright, alright."
Shichen glanced at the still-sleeping Aisute and climbed out of bed with Lala.
Together they headed downstairs and opened the door.
"Good morning, Shichen, morning Lala." Yui greeted with a smile.
"Morning, Yui!" Lala responded cheerfully.
"You're here early," Shichen chuckled.
"Came for breakfast," she smiled.
"Wow, not even pretending to be polite. Come in already."
"Thanks!"
"What's in the bag?" Lala asked, eyeing her backpack.
"Textbooks. Finals are next week. I came to study with you."
"Wait, what? Finals are next week?!" Lala looked like she got hit by lightning.
"You didn't know?"
"Ahaha~ totally forgot…" Lala scratched her head.
"How were your grades last time?" Shichen asked.
"Not great…"
"You've mastered the language here by now, right?"
"Yup! All good!"
"Then don't worry. Yui's not beating you."
"Huh? Really?" Yui raised an eyebrow.
"Lala's actually super smart. She only bombed last time 'cause she couldn't read the letters." Shichen explained.
"Seriously?" Yui looked over.
"Haha~ it's true." Lala nodded.
"Then you can help tutor me today?"
"Of course~"
"Awesome! Let's start right now!" Yui said excitedly.
"Eh?"
