Chapter 253: Time to Head Home
The Next Morning
Sunlight filtered through the window.
Shichen lay on the floor with a satisfied smile, watching Yami sleep on top of him. Her horns were gone again. He gently pulled her closer and went right back to sleep.
Even in her awakened form, Yami still couldn't match him. Whether she initiated or reacted, he handled it effortlessly.
She had only just grown into adulthood and was still new to a lot of things. Her awakened state might've made her more open, but that only played further into his favor.
Last night had been... eventful. They'd unlocked all kinds of positions—the cat stretch, the proud knight—and with how petite she was, the lotus pose was absolutely perfect.
It had just ended, and he was already replaying the whole thing in his head.
Now that she had returned to her usual form, he wasn't sure if there would be any lingering effects. But when she woke up, she'd probably be dying from embarrassment.
That was going to be fun.
When he finally woke up again, it was already noon. The only reason he got up was because someone was knocking on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Shichen, are you in there?" Lala called from outside.
She wasn't alone. Yui Kotegawa was there too.
"It's dead quiet in there."
"Think he's still asleep?"
"Seriously? It's already noon."
"Didn't he say something about danger last night? Maybe he stayed up super late."
"What kind of danger are we talking about?"
"No need to worry," said Est's calm voice. "It's normal for my brother to sleep in."
"Est, what are you trying to say?"
"If he's not answering, we should just go eat. Guys need more rest anyway."
"Wait... don't tell me..." Yui's tone shifted.
"Oh? You're not as clueless as you look."
"Est, stop saying weird stuff!" Shichen called from inside the room.
"Shichen, you're awake? Hurry up and open the door!"
"Hold on. Let me get dressed first."
"You just woke up? Who cares! Open the door already."
More knocking followed.
"Lala, give him a second to change," Yui tried to calm her down.
Inside, Shichen locked the door with a spell—just in case someone barged in.
He wasn't too worried about anyone seeing him, but if Yui caught sight of the chaos in the room, that might be a bit too much.
Still holding Yami, he sat up and used magic to clean everything. Magic really did make life easier.
He gently placed the still-naked Yami back onto the bed but paused when he felt her skin heating up.
He looked at her face and smiled.
"Awake already?"
She didn't respond.
He shook his head, kissed her on the forehead, tucked the blanket over her, and started getting dressed.
"Shichen, are you done yet? You're so slow."
"He's definitely hiding something in there."
"You say something?" Shichen suddenly opened the door, locking eyes with Yui.
"Uh..." Yui blinked, completely caught off guard, and awkwardly smiled as she glanced toward the room.
"Curious? Come have a look," he said while giving Est a light pat on the head.
"Mmm," Est closed her eyes with a contented smile.
"Where's Yami?" Lala stepped into the room.
"Keep your voice down. She's still sleeping."
"She can sleep through all this?"
"Her body's been acting up. She needs rest."
"I see. Alright."
"You too, come in," Shichen said, pulling Yui by the hand into the room.
Yui didn't resist. She stepped inside and casually scanned the space, pretending nothing was unusual. But then she subtly sniffed the air.
She knew Shichen and Yami had spent the night alone. No way nothing had happened.
Even if she'd never experienced it herself, she still knew what to expect after that kind of night. There was always some kind of scent lingering.
But surprisingly... nothing.
Did they really not do anything?
"What are you sniffing for?" Shichen asked with a grin.
"N-nothing," Yui stammered.
"You think I didn't notice?" He pinched her nose and gently wiggled it.
"Mmm—"
"You go around judging others, but your mind's in the gutter."
"It's not!" she smacked his hand away, clearly flustered.
"Then what were you doing?"
"My nose was just stuffy. I was in the water too long yesterday and caught a bit of a cold. That's all."
"You really think I'm buying that?"
Yui's cheeks flushed deep red.
"Alright, let's stop bothering Yami. Let's grab lunch."
"Let's go!" Lala eagerly wrapped herself around his arm.
"I'm coming too!" Est appeared beside him, trying to do the same, but her arms were too short so she just held his hand.
"You two are warm."
"That's what showers are for," Lala said nonchalantly.
"My body's always cool," Est added.
It really was—one of the reasons he loved holding her. She was like a living air conditioner.
"Alright then. Yami, Yui, let's go."
"Mhm." Yami nodded faintly, still keeping her head low.
"You're acting weird today," Yui said, narrowing her eyes.
"Am I?"
"Totally. Lala, don't you think so?"
"Yup. Yami's definitely not herself. You feeling sick? Shichen mentioned something about your body."
"I'm fine..."
Well, her body had gone through something—thanks to Shichen.
She peeked up and glared at him.
He happened to be watching her too, completely unfazed. He even smiled.
"Yami, want me to check on your body again tonight?"
"N-no thanks," she quickly shook her head.
"Come on, don't be shy. Your health comes first."
Yami suddenly had the urge to run.
She knew his so-called check-up wasn't going to be anything proper. But there wasn't any point in escaping now. He had already eaten her whole, and she'd even tried to turn the tables at one point.
She wasn't the same girl anymore.
"Alright... fine."
"Good. Let's get moving. It's hot out here."
"Let's go! Time to head home."
