Journey to Godhood Begins in Frieren

Chapter 241: Feet!

Est's arrival brought a new liveliness to the household.

She wasn't shy around Yami at all, and treated both her and Shichen with great familiarity. In the evenings, she would even curl up on Shichen's lap as if competing for attention.

But that didn't bother the other two—Shichen was never anyone's exclusive territory.

Soon, Friday came. Shichen was at his office handling paperwork, while Est sat quietly atop his desk, motionless, simply watching him.

She wasn't just wearing over-the-knee socks anymore—Est had changed into the summer uniform of Sainan High School. Her outfit was slightly mismatched: no vest, just a white shirt on top and a green plaid skirt below. She'd also switched to white thigh-high socks for a more coordinated look.

Despite her unfamiliarity with modern fashion, the look suited her unexpectedly well—she looked even more adorable than usual.

Since Est followed Shichen everywhere, many people at school had already seen her. Petite, cute, and with that soft silvery hair, she naturally attracted attention. However, Shichen hadn't taken her around the campus often—only when arriving at school or heading out at lunch.

Still, the few glances people caught were enough to spark gossip about Shichen and Est's relationship.

Some students even speculated whether Est might be an alien too.

With Run's (Lala's) appearance already confirming aliens existed, Est's arrival ignited even more curiosity and excitement—after all, they were all beautiful.

Shichen considered introducing them to more alien species eventually, to let them understand not all aliens were attractive or human-like.

But that could wait. He had more pressing things on his mind.

For instance, after he had incidentally absorbed some of Lala's blood, a new contract beast had awakened—meaning Lala's compatibility was high.

If that was the case, her "sister" might have the same potential… and maybe even Yami?

If Yami's blood was compatible too, then so might her "sister's." That meant Shichen might be able to awaken several contract beasts in this world.

And if he could, many of his questions could finally be answered.

He considered asking Yami to try. After all, she was already used to him teasing her in harmless ways each morning. Drawing a little blood shouldn't be an issue.

"Onii-chan~"

Est suddenly interrupted his thoughts.

"What is it, Est?" Shichen looked toward her. She was now lying back on the desk, her silver hair cascading over the edge like a waterfall.

"Did you forget something?" she asked while looking upside-down at him.

"Forget… what?"

"What you promised me earlier."

"…Oh."

He remembered—on the night Est arrived, she'd mentioned helping him "relax" with her feet. Shichen blushed at the thought.

What was he thinking back then?!

Wait—technically, Est wasn't really a little girl. Her actual age was far beyond that.

A legal loli?

Shichen's gaze instinctively drifted downward—from her delicate face, past her light-pink lips, down her slim figure, until it landed on her dainty feet wrapped in white stockings.

Her feet were almost art-like in their proportions. Smaller than Lala's, and maybe even smaller than his palm.

She was a spirit. A sword. That meant she was pure and untainted, right?

He'd never tried this kind of thing before. But a promise was a promise… right?

Before he could overthink it further—

"Onii-chan."

Sensing his gaze, Est shifted. She sat up, turned toward him, and gently let her legs dangle over the edge of the desk, resting her feet on his lap.

"Est… are you sure about this?" Shichen asked, still hesitant.

"I've been looking forward to it… for a long time," she replied softly.

"For a long time?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Don't mind the details," she said with a calm expression, although her feet began to move slowly.

Shichen held his breath.

"Is… is this how it's done?" Est asked, a blush on her face.

"…Kind of. Where did you learn this?" Shichen frowned slightly.

"I saw it… somewhere," she murmured.

"Where exactly?"

"Don't worry about it. Just unzip your—"

Knock knock knock!

"Shichen~ are you there?"

It was Lala's voice.

Shichen sighed, not startled but definitely frustrated by the interruption.

"Tch." Est pouted.

"Ahem, looks like it'll have to wait."

Shichen gently held her feet, gave them a playful squeeze, then stood up and lifted her onto his shoulder before walking to the door.

When he opened it, it wasn't just Lala waiting—Yui Kotegawa was there too, along with two other girls he vaguely recognized.

One had short brown hair; the other wore glasses and had black twin-tails.

"What's this about?" Shichen looked at Lala.

"Hehe~ we're here to invite you out!" Lala smiled.

"Invite me?"

"Yep! There's a rumor about a ghost in the old school building. We want to check it out!"

"That building is off-limits. Yui, why didn't you stop her?"

"…You try stopping Lala," Yui replied helplessly.

"Fair point."

"Come on~ you're the principal, right? If you say it's okay, then it is! Come with us~" Lala grabbed his arm and started tugging coquettishly.

"Sigh, you're impossible."

"Hehe~ you're the best, Shichen!"

"You spoil her too much," Yui muttered.

"I was planning to check it out anyway… Who are these two?" Shichen asked, noticing their stares directed at Est.

"Hello, Principal! I'm Risa Momioka!"

"I'm Mio Sawada!"

The two quickly introduced themselves.

"They're coming with us," Lala explained.

"Alright, fine."

"Yay!" The girls high-fived.

"But go finish your morning classes first—we'll go at lunchtime," Shichen reminded them.

"Okay!"

"See? Time to get back to class, right?" Yui said tiredly.

"Okay~"

They began to leave. Yui followed, while Risa and Mio lingered at the back, sneaking glances at Shichen and Est.

"Lala, are you really dating the principal?" Risa asked suddenly.

"Of course," Lala nodded.

"He's super handsome. Have you two ever… done anything?"

"Done what?"

"You know, grown-up stuff," Mio added.

"You two! That's not something you should be asking!" Yui scolded.

"What's the harm~?"

"Yeah, we're just curious."

"Hehe~ not telling~" Lala giggled.

"Eh? Why not?"

"Shichen won't let me say~"

"Ugh! Then what about that little girl with the principal?"

"You mean Est? She's Shichen's little sister~"

"Her name sounds like an alien's too… and they don't look alike."

"Shichen said they're not related by blood. As for whether she's an alien—I'm not sure."

"Wait, is the principal not an alien?"

"Nope~ he's not."

"I see…"

"You two sure are curious about Shichen—uh, I mean, the principal," Yui frowned.

"Shichen?" Risa caught that.

"What?" Yui's face flushed.

"You called the principal by name!"

"No, I didn't."

"Liar! I heard it! What's your relationship with him?"

"What relationship?! I-I just call him Shichen-onii-chan… that's all!"

"Oooh~ Onii-chan~" the two girls teased in unison.

"What?! Is that a problem? What about you two—why are you always asking about Shichen?"

"We're just curious~"

"He's really good-looking."

"That's all?"

"What else? Besides, why are you so worked up about it, Yui? Even Lala isn't this flustered."

"So suspicious~"
