"If your primary class is summoning, it's better to choose a class that specializes in buffs as your secondary class."

"What you said makes sense, Momonga-san. Hmm, if you want a profession that specializes in buffs, you can choose Shaman or Faith."

The ability to apply buffs is essentially the same, but the Shaman's personal combat ability is slightly stronger than that of the Faith system. On the other hand, the healing ability of the Faith system is considered the best among all professions. Overall, the two have their own advantages.

"I've decided. I'll choose the Faith system." After a relatively short period of thought, the girl made a simple decision.

"Are you more concerned about healing abilities, Aya-san?"

"No."

"Huh?"

"Because nun clothes are cute!"

. . .

That was the reason she had chosen the Faith system. Also, because general faith-based treatments would cause damage to undead creatures, she deliberately used paid items to transform it into a variant profession with the suffix "(Special)," which, in the game setting, likely meant not adhering to mainstream religions and gods.

'Faith Guidance,' 'Faith Aura,' and 'Pope Deification' are all passive skills that priests and popes can choose to learn.

Faith Guidance increases the strength of buffs received by friendly troops within a certain range.

Faith Aura is a correction that boosts the defense and resistance of friendly troops.

Pope Deification enhances Aya's attributes based on the number of friendly forces.

No matter which skill you choose, they are just common abilities in the game designed to enhance attributes. After all, it's impossible for a skill in the game to interfere with real-world human beliefs.

However, entering this world complicates things. While the attribute-boosting effect still exists, the other effects might be just as the names of these skills imply...

"So, I'm not a god—just a magician practicing in seclusion." Aya turned off her passive skills first, then decided to stick with this explanation.

"Anyway, please stand up first." Looking at the large groups of humans kneeling before her, Aya felt a stomach ache.

But the villagers didn't react. They remained prostrated, murmuring to themselves.

"I'm going to get angry if you don't stand up." After saying this, the villagers stood up one by one.

After Aya tried her best to explain, they finally accepted the "magician practicing in seclusion" setting.

However, it seemed that some people still had doubts. Let's ignore that for now, Aya thought, turning to the old woman who was the village leader.

"I've been in seclusion for a long time, so I don't know much about the current situation here. I hope you can provide some information, if possible."

"In that case, please come to my house and rest for a while." Aya gladly accepted the old woman's invitation. It was nice to escape the admiring and envious gazes around her.

The old woman's house was on the other side of the village. Aya followed her through the village, observing the situation. It wasn't a small village, and the construction quality was of medium to high standard. The surrounding fields were large, mostly wheat fields. Aya could also see a cotton field.

Such a large tract of farmland would probably be abandoned due to the village losing a large number of adult male laborers. It was truly a shame to think about it.

"This is my home. My humble abode is a little shabby. Please forgive me, Master Magician."

Frankly, it was indeed shabby. But if you considered it from a farmer's perspective, it might even be considered a wealthy peasant's home. However, Aya had never been a farmer, so she couldn't judge.

"My husband is the chief of this village, but he was killed by a werewolf just now." Those were heavy words.

"What about your child?" Aya regretted asking the moment the words left her mouth. If the child had died, the question would have been too cruel.

"I gave birth to four children. Two of them died young. My remaining son is working hard in the city. As for my daughter, she was fortunate enough to survive thanks to the magician." The old woman continued, "My son escaped the werewolf this time, and my daughter didn't die either. It's a blessing in disguise."

"City?" Aya silently noted these key words.

"Thank you very much. Without your help, everyone in this village would probably be dead!" The old woman suddenly bowed her head in gratitude. It was a good thing she didn't kneel down, but it still surprised Aya.

In her previous life, Aya had never experienced such sincere gratitude. It wasn't that she had never been thanked before, but hearing words like "Thank you for taking care of my family's business" or "Thank you for your investment" had never made her happy.

There were some sincere thank yous, like "Thank you for letting my family go," but Aya didn't like those either.

So now, perhaps it was a relic of her human nature. While she wasn't ecstatic about receiving such thanks, she definitely didn't hate it.

"Of course, we'll still try our best to repay the magician, although we may not be able to offer you anything that will satisfy you right now." The old woman's continued humility raised Aya's favorability slightly.

It wasn't uncommon for the weak to take the help of the strong for granted, or even to harbor resentment toward those who refused to meet their demands. In her previous life, Aya often heard comments like, "You're so rich, why don't you just give me this?" from so-called friends.

In contrast, while Aya felt a little embarrassed, she still appreciated the old woman's humble attitude.

"If possible, could you tell me about the situation around here, from general to detailed?" Aya asked, "It would be best if you have a map."

There was no doubt that intelligence was what Aya lacked the most right now, so she couldn't miss any opportunity to obtain it.

"Don't rush. Just speak slowly." The old woman said, and began telling her the story.

First of all, this wasn't any of the nine worlds of YGGDRASIL. After hearing the old woman mention the "Dragon Kingdom," Aya made a quick judgment.

There was no human country called "Dragon Kingdom" in the game, and no one had even heard of it, so this was likely the legendary other world.

The Dragon Kingdom is a human nation currently in a crisis due to ongoing conflicts with demi-humans. This village is located on the border of the Maple Moon Territory in the Dragon Kingdom, right next to the Dark Moon Forest.

Maple Moon Territory is a relatively stable region, as it's far from the frontlines of the war, but because it borders the forest, there are more adventurers. The entire territory is ruled by a duke and his nobles, and the capital is a large city called Kelmais.

After giving this basic information, the old woman began explaining the village's problems.

The name of the village is Esther Village. It was established by pioneers decades ago. Because it's so close to the forest, it was assigned the responsibility of guarding the forest and monitoring monsters, which also resulted in many taxes being exempted. As a result, it attracted many people over the years.

The surrounding land is fertile and close to the forest. Thanks to income from farming, timber, and medicinal materials, the people of Esther Village lead a life slightly above basic living standards.

"If the whole village puts their efforts into this, we could probably gather 5,000 copper coins, though it's still insignificant compared to the help you've given us," the old woman said.

5,000 copper coins? Aya had no idea how much that was worth, but she couldn't ask directly, as that would seem too ignorant.

"If you give me all the money, how will you farm next?" Aya's mind worked quickly. Or perhaps, it could be said that she had an innate business sense. The moment she heard the word "money," her first thought was "production."

"A lot of men have died. If I'm not mistaken, the oxen and other animals were probably lost too. Without money, farming will be impossible." Aya's guess was correct. All the oxen in the village had been killed by werewolves.

"We're planning to leave here." Fhe old woman said with a bleak smile.

"Leave here?" Aya raised an eyebrow, "Go to another village?"

"No, no village will accept us because we are pagans."

"Pagans?" Aya realized that this was an important point.

The old woman sighed, "The Dragon Kingdom has suffered from the harm caused by the demi-humans for a long time, and its own combat power is insufficient. Because of this, it has accepted the assistance of the Silian Theocracy. The price is the promotion of the religion of the six gods believed in by the Theocracy within the country."

"The original pioneers of this village, including most of the people who remain here, were excluded from other villages because they refused to change their native religion."
