CHAPTER START---
Leaning against the wall, Gojo carefully observes Taiyo, who is sitting on a medical table with his shirt off.
Beside him is Shoko Ieiri, the resident doctor of Tokyo Jujutsu Tech, and a dear friend of Satoru Gojo.
A Japanese woman with brown hair and matching eyes, wearing a lab coat over her simple outfit of a turtleneck and slacks.
Appearance complete with dark bags under her eyes.
She pokes and prods Taiyo, flowing Cursed Energy through him, double-checking his work.
Taiyo passes a hand through his blood red hair and tries to relax, not enjoy the feeling of being a lab rat one bit, but goes along with it.
"It seems everything is fine," she says. "Your RCT is good enough to get all the poison out, and you healed yourself up as good as anyone could. But next time, get me a pure sample of the Cursed Spirit's poison before you purge it all from your system."
"I'll ask next time, I'm sure whatever Cursed Spirit I fight will be polite enough."
Shoko doesn't respond, simply removing her gloves and taking note of his checkup on her clipboard.
"Healing others still isn't as efficient as this," Taiyo says as he pulls on his shirt. "How long did it take you to master that?"
"I had it intuitively," she says. "All I have is my RCT, so I was simply born with the ability to perfectly use it for myself and others. I'm even better than that idiot at it," she gestures to Gojo.
"It's not my fault I can't heal others," he says. "I'm just too efficient to synchronize my Cursed Energy Circuit with theirs…the curse of being better, I suppose."
Both Shoko and Taiyo give him bored looks, and Gojo shrugs in response.
"Whatever. Now that we know he's fine, let's get down to business," Gojo says.
"The higher-ups sent me to kill Suguru Geto," Taiyo immediately says, surprising both of them.
Not by what he said, but how quickly he said it.
"I made it part of the Binding Vow that if you figured it out, I'd be allowed to say. I'd rather not have Satoru Gojo even more annoyed with me."
Gojo nods. "I'm not annoyed with you. In fact, I knew they would try this, since they always do. And you playing along with them is good, it keeps you safe while you get stronger. But I'm sure you've realized both these things by now."
"I'm not stupid, so, yeah."
"So I should think carefully before I use those orders then," Gojo says.
"What orders?" Shoko asks.
Taiyo turns to her as he hops off the table. "In exchange for a few fights with him until I graduate, he gets to give me three orders, but they have to be reasonable for it to work."
"Ahh," Shoko looks between them. "So being an idiot is required to be Special Grade. No wonder they call you people 'special'."
"That's a matter of perspective," Taiyo says.
Gojo claps to get their attention. "Alright, ready?"
"Let's hear it."
"The first order is simple. You aren't allowed to hunt Suguru Geto or his people. If they attack you, then they're fair game, but I don't want you to go kill them, especially not for the higher-ups."
Taiyo nods, "I accept."
"Secondly, Suguru Geto is likely going to make contact with you and ask you to join him. I don't expect that you'd join them, would you?"
"Their goal is stupid, so no."
"In that case, you're not to share any information about him or his people with anyone but myself."
Taiyo raises a brow at this. "Two orders and neither changed how I was planning to live my life. This is easier than I thought. I accept both. But are all of them going to be about protecting your friend?"
"No, this one is different," Gojo says. "I want you to join my faction. I want to change the Jujutsu World to stop being so ancient. I want the old rules not to stifle the new generation of Jujutsu Sorcerers and give them more room to grow.
That way, people with more modern Cursed Techniques won't be ostracized or killed for breaking the mold. I want you to help me with slowly building our political influence to eventually replace the higher-ups."
"Hmm, and will you change anything beyond making Jujutsu Society more…lenient?"
"Unfortunately, the system is as good as it will get, considering we have to remain a secret. I just want to let the younger people get to enjoy life instead of being slaves to the higher-ups. Even now I can't protect all the children from them, but if I can foster enough incredible students like yourself, maybe one day we'll hold enough seats to change the rules the right way."
"Or we can just kill them all right now," Taiyo says, and neither Shoko nor Gojo is surprised, as they've considered that many times.
"That wouldn't change anything. And people don't truly want to follow someone who leads by 'my way or death'. Especially since that's what I'm trying to change in the current system. In Jujutsu Society, power is everything. But if you want to change all of Jujutsu Society instead of only benefiting yourself…you need allies that will have your back, no matter what."
Taiyo runs a hand through his hair, thinking about it for a while.
"If you asked me to go with you and kill them all, I'd easily agree. But playing these political games, that crap doesn't really interest me."
Gojo nods. "I assumed you'd say that. And I won't waste my last order asking you not to stand opposed to our faction, since I know you won't side with them, right?"
"I won't. They're annoying fossils to me."
"In that case, I'll hold onto that last order for later. Honestly, I'm sorry you got pulled into this crap."
"Special Grade problems, right?"
Gojo chuckles, and Shoko rolls her eyes at them. "Great, now can both of you get out? I have some paperwork to finish…"
---Jujutsu Headquarters, Somewhere In Japan…
Standing in a dimly candle lit room, Principal Gakuganji is surrounded by a red paper screen door, silhouetting the higher-ups as he gives his report.
"The windows reported a Domain Expansion Barrier toward the end," Principal Gakuganji says. "We suspect that the Cursed Spirit's Domain Expansion was contested by Taiyo's."
"Unexpected," a voice says, echoing around the room to mask who is speaking. "To think Suguru Geto would rather relocate his entire organization than kill a mere student, Special Grade or not. Was our information incorrect? Is Atsuya Kusakabe not his master?"
"He is," Gakuganji says. "And he has no relationship with Suguru Geto. This outcome was unexpected."
"It was disastrous!" the voice says. "We sent him to die before he becomes a threat. Instead, he learns Domain Expansion!"
"According to Mei Mei, he is still willing to work for us, under certain conditions."
Disgruntled grumbling echoes throughout the room. "An increase in prices, we assume."
"Among other requests, yes. He is also requesting certain information, regarding Barrier techniques."
"How dare he! That commoner! Special Grade or not, he has no right!"
"The Gojo Clan can provide some of these items," Gakuganji reminds them. "Not all. In fact, I'd say they only have one-tenth of the information he requested. However, if he doesn't get it from our faction, he will go where it is offered."
More grumbling echoes throughout the room.
"After the Sister School Exchange Event," the voice says. "He is still set to duel Satoru Gojo, yes?"
"Yes, he is."
"Then we shall observe their battle. Afterward, meetings can be arranged."
"Understood, I shall inform her. And I humbly recommend that additional resources be allocated to earning his favor. We may not be able to sway him to our side, but keeping him apart from Satoru Gojo is invaluable in itself."
"Agreed," the voice says. "You are dismissed…"
---Days Later, Elsewhere In Japan…
Sitting on a park bench, observing children playing, their parents standing nearby supervising them.
Candidates for the final leg of her plan.
A woman with a large scar across her forehead and shoulder-length black hair carefully reads an email on her phone, smiling to herself while glancing up at the children ever so often.
Sensing their latent potential, seeing only tools to push the boundaries of Jujutsu more than ever before.
She carefully reads the latest report from her spy and is pleasantly surprised by it.
'Taiyo Daburu and Satoru Gojo are to have a duel in less than three months. How interesting. I should arrange something to learn about that boy's nature before that. Perhaps he can be useful to me…'
And so, the final component of the three-person team that would destroy the world as we know it begins making plans to bring the pieces together…
