Chapter 2: Fresh Start
Year 1
In the first year, he learned many things about the world he was in. First of all, much to his relief, his universe wasn't exactly like that of his memory's. There were a few subtle differences.
For one, he didn't look like an evil, disgusting creep. On the contrary, he had solid features — even handsome. Deep, piercing eyes. Thick eyebrows. Neat, trimmed beard. Sharp nose. He sometimes saw the maids excitedly chatting behind his back, blushing a bright red when he looked at them.
His body was actually in shape, nothing like the thin candlestick in the animated films. He vowed to maintain it as such. Each morning, he woke up and completed a set of vigorous exercises to work out each part of his body.
However, it was far too early to celebrate. There was still like 15 years to go until the canon events. Who knew? Perhaps he was the type to age poorly.
Next, the state of the Agrabah, glimmering and bustling it may be, was much more complex than he initially thought. The diplomacy and economic power of the Agrabah was quite sizable compared to their physical size which was actually on the smaller side compared to most powers. As the Royal Vizier, he was part of the important discussions relating to these countries so it was inevitable that he learned about their rule and the current times.
This brought him to his third point — the world outside of the Agrabah. This part surprised him the most. In this universe… every fairy tale and story was combined into a single world. To their north was Arendelle. Near Arendelle was its island neighbor, Corona. Some countries from his old life still existed, yet in older forms. Countries like China housing Mulan, and France housing Cinderella and Belle, dotted the vicinity.
To his understanding, everything was more than a decade behind the main plot. Queen Iduna and King Agnarr of Arendelle had their second daughter a few years ago. King Frederic and Queen Arianna of Corona unfortunately lost their daughter around the same time — stolen by a mysterious kidnapper. As allies, the Agrabah promised to send for them if they heard news of the daughter, unlikely as that may be. The Huns were prodding the Chinese borders but were yet to fully invade. Fortunately, wars between the nations were few and far between thanks to the mostly positive diplomatic relations.
Other than that, he quickly absorbed all the information he could about his surroundings. Thankfully, the current Jafar hadn't done anything too terrible yet. It didn't require much effort to adapt to life as the Royal Vizier. Most of the original knowledge was built into his muscle memory and books, so it only took a few months to get everything down.
In the movies, the extent of his original powers before getting his grubby hands on the genie wasn't thoroughly explored. After becoming Jafar himself, he found that he had a slew of skills that most likely got him into the position of Royal Vizier to begin with.
Alchemy, sorcery, transmutation, disguise, and many more. They would all come useful. When he wasn't contributing to the growth of the Agrabah or communicating with diplomats, he worked in his private study to enhance his powers.
Of course, even as he worked, Jafar could deny the obvious: he was destined to lose. He was the villain. Eventually, Jasmine would grow up and find Aladdin. If he acted the way he did in the films, only a cruel fate awaited him.
However, he was determined to avoid this timeline. He had a second chance now, and he would not lose it by becoming a disgusting child predator. Even if Jasmine was a beauty, Jafar was in the prime of his life in his mid-20s. He had achieved as high a position he could wish for at such a young age. If he wanted, he could gain an entire harem of beauties. Why try to go for a 15 year old, barely-mature brat?
As a way of promising to himself, Jafar started to leave behind his hypnosis staff in his room. It drew curiosity at first, but people let it go. It would be less temptation for him and a sign of change from the canon events.
As for Jasmine, she was growing up nicely, as much as a 1 year old could. She had tufts of black hair sprouting from her head in a cute way. She squealed like… well, a baby, when he approached her crib. The way she energetically waved her arms, and then passed out in the next minute was just so adorable.
Nevertheless, Jafar didn't let his feelings show. He kept up his stoic appearances as the Royal Vizier, only letting himself have the occasional brief smile or a little tickle here and there.
He ended the year successfully, avoiding most conflicts and increasing trade. There was also talk of an in-person meeting with the leaders of Arendelle and Corona about the search for the missing daughter. The Chinese Emperor also sent word that they would be open to a few trade deals.
