Jackal : The Goddess Of Death

Chapter 49: Stay With Me

Seeing this pissed Alice off even more and a burst of death energy erupted from her body, killing all the anomalies and the plant life around her. Before she could continue her charge, Star speared her to the ground.

Before Alice could rise, Star was on her. His fist came down like a hammer, aimed directly at Alice's chest. But at the last second, Alice's body vanished once again. Star fist collided with the ground, sending cracks out in all directions.

From behind, Alice appeared in a flash of darkness, her body surging with raw energy. She thrust both hands forward, sending a torrent of death energy straight into Star's back. His body tensed as the purple explosion mist coursed through him.

For a second, Star's eyes when white, seemingly dying. But instead of falling, Star let out a deep growl. His aura flared brighter, burning through the pain. He turned slowly, eyes burning with fury, and before Alice could react, he grabbed her by the throat. The grip was tight, unyielding. Alice struggled, growling like a wild beast and flailing around, but Star held firm.

With a single motion, Star lifted Alice off the ground and slammed him into the earth with bone-crushing force. The ground buckled, and a massive crater formed around them. Alice gasped for air, but Star didn't let go. He raised his free hand, webs licking his fingertips, and prepared to end the battle with one final blow.

But Alice wasn't finished yet.

With a burst of energy, Alice's aura exploded outward, forcing Star to release his grip. She rolled to his feet, her body flickering with purple light. Se stood tall, panting, her eyes meeting Star's with unyielding determination.

They charged at each other once more, the ground beneath them quaking with every step. Their fists collided in mid-air, the force of the impact sending shockwaves across the battlefield, splitting the earth beneath their feet. Each strike came faster, harder, their bodies blurs of motion as they pushed each other to the brink. Alice's sickles and Star's katanas once again clashed and they knocked the weapons out of each other's hands, making home fight with their bare hands once again.

Blood splattered the ground, their bodies battered and bruised, but neither showed any sign of slowing down. The sky above grew darker, and the very air around them crackled with energy as if the world itself was on the edge of collapse from the sheer power of their battle.

But suddenly, Star smirked. As Alice went in for another punch, an explosion of energy came from Star's body. Light began to wrap him up and he entered his keeper form. A towering, 7-foot-tall spider man. He had a chiseled, muscular upper body and his four spider legs on his back turned into arms, giving him six of them. His sapphire, glowing eyes radiated, and his fangs were sharp, dripping venom. His sleek, black exoskeleton contrasts with intricate orange markings.

As the two rushed into each other again, Star hit Alice in the stomach with full force, the strength from his keeper from laying her out in one hit. He was about to kill her, but then, she surprised him by firing a small null ball from her concealed hand, tearing one of his legs off.

Star couldn't regenerate his leg with a phoenix vital due to the properties of null, but he did have another way to get his leg back. So, even though he could have killed Alice, he was forced to leave by summoning a bird anomaly to take him away. Plus, he didn't want to risk any more damage on his keeper form. As he flew away, Alice got back up and let out a powerful roar. She fired several death orbs at Star, but the bird was too agile and he ended up getting away.

Alice was panting and starving on the ground. She needed food, preferably meat. And heterochromatic eyes quickly found it; Pinoy's body. Alice couldn't tell the difference between friend and foe in this state. This was the effect of being unable to detransform from her keeper form. Her brain was becoming more and more like a wild animal and she was going more off her instinct. She didn't see Pinoy as her friend. All she could think of his as was sustenance.

She walked on all fours over to his body. He Pinoy, who was still conscious, backed up, as he instantly knew the woman before him was no longer Alice. She pinned him down, looking down at him with the eyes of a predator. As she was about to bite down on Pinoy's terrified face, her own scepter was shoved into her mouth as a gagged by a barely conscious Yoshi. Though his body was weak, he managed to copy Alice's strength. He then wrapped his legs around hers and locked her to the ground.

Alice's flailed to get out of his grasp, but then, Yoshi started to hum a song in her ears. It was a song that even through her wild state, she recognized.

A flashback played through her head. It was Valentine's day after Alice dumped her feelings on Yoshi. The two went back to his room to play his favorite video game. It was an on-rail shooter game. The game involved a man in an airport fighting through waves of enemies to find his daughter. Though the game was multi-player, it might as well have just Ben as single player. Alice was really, really bad at the game, and Yoshi carried them to victory repeatedly.

"I-I'm sorry." She said with both her ears and tail dropping down.

"It's ok, Alice. It's just a video game. I'm just glad I finally get to play something with you."

"I-I wanna go again."

"Ok."

As Yoshi restarted the mission, Alice continued to get down. She ended up using all her life, forcing Yoshi to clear the mission by himself. Yoshi noticed her sad expression and tried to think of a way to make her feel better.

"Hey, how about we switch games?"

"S-Sure... I-I'm sorry. I ruined your experience."

"You didn't ruin anything Alice."

Yoshi scrolled over on his game's menu. He pasted one of his favored games, a horror stealth puzzle game, as he feared it would be too hard for Alice. He instead landed on a 2d platformer game from nearly 2 decades ago. It was a 32, but it was his first video game and still one of his favorites. The starting screen popped up and the music began to play.

"Oh, man. I love this music."

"Y-Yeah. This music is actually really good. Who composed this?"

"Mahito Yokota."

"Oh, yeah. I know him."

Yoshi began to hum the song. Alice realized how angelic his voice really was. She could listen to him speak for hours, as she loved it when he talked about things he was passionate about, but his vocals were something that blew her away. She blushed at how good his humming was.

Back to the present, Alice's eyes turn golden again as her body begins to return to normal.

"It's ok, Alice." Yoshi said with a voice filled with love and gentleness. "I'm here for you."

"Y-Y-Yoshi... B-Belle is..."

"I'm sorry, Alice."

Alice began to cry, her wails filling the raized campus.
