I’ve Changed My Job From [Sage] to [Thief]

C64: Phantom Thief Shadow Elimination Plan (2)

At their usual favorite diner, Kagehiko and Sana were talking over the counter.

“Rowdy Sandalon? I’ve never heard that name before.”

Hearing the name that came out of Sana’s mouth, Kagehiko asked her back. The owner was out shopping as usual, so there were only two people in the restaurant, Kagehiko and Sana.

Sana gives a supplementary explanation to Kagehiko’s question.

“Court Mage of the Slayer Kingdom, Special Service for Magical Research, Count of Sandalon. He’s famous as a researcher of magic items. You see, he is the one who developed the magic cannon.”

“Oh, that. That’s what the soldiers used during the war with the demons.”

Kagehiko nodded as he dug up his memory.

“So? What’s wrong with this Sandalon?”

“There’s been some information circulating that he’s recently acquired a large number of magic items from a mysterious country. I think among them there are probably some items that Kagehiko is looking for…….”

“Heh, that’s great.”

Kagehiko Kurono……For the Phantom Thief Shadow, the items leaked from the Demon Country are his top priority target.

If Count Sandalon owns it, I’ll have to go in and steal it.

“I see…….So, why does Sana looks so unhappy?”

“Uh…….”

Although Sana succeeded in bringing important information and creating a debt for Kagehiko, her expression was somewhat gloomy, which was unusual for a woman who was usually so cheerful that she repeatedly sexually harassed him.

“It’s……this information smells fishy.”

“What you’re talking about when you’re a member of a shady organization like the Dark Guild.”

“That’s not what I meant!”

Sana replied with a pouting face.

“This information is spreading too fast! It’s as if someone deliberately put it out there!”

“Oh, so you’re saying that……this information is a trap to lure me in?”

“It doesn’t necessarily mean that……you are the target, but that’s what it means.”

“Oh.”

Kagehiko crosses his arms and strikes a pose as if he is very worried. He felt sorry for the anxious look on Sana’s face, but in Kagehiko’s mind, he had already made up his mind.

If he was going to run away from the thrill in front of him with his tail between his legs, he wouldn’t have become a thief in the first place.

“This is interesting. Let’s see what kind of traps are waiting for me.”

“I knew you’d say that…….I wouldn’t recommend it, though.”

Saying this unwillingly, Sana took out a document with information about Count Sandalon. After receiving the bundle of papers and putting them in the item box, Kagehiko stood up and walked through the doorway of the dinner.

“Oh, yes. There was one more thing I had to tell you, Kagehiko.”

“Hmm, what is it?”

“I heard that Matilda-san of the Knights Order is missing. I don’t think you have any idea where she is, but please keep an eye out for her.”
