I've Become the King of Villains in the Game

Chapter 135: Please Close the Door at Will

Chen Lun didn't mind the cat Biebu's bristling fur and turned to leave the room.

The sound of clanging echoed down from above. He paused briefly, looked up at the ceiling, then shook his head and left, heading straight downstairs.

The attic had been cleared out for Maggie to use as a workshop. He had no idea what she was doing up there to make such a racket.

Golov was temporarily serving as the coachman and had plenty of free time when not out and about.

As for the other peripheral members of the Circus, they were disguised as servants, staying in the manor.

Including Chen Lun, Jack's manor now housed four Transcendents and these elite assassins, a force not to be underestimated.

"Good morning, Mr. Jack. Miss Floey has prepared breakfast. I've placed it on the table."

Connie hurried over when she saw Chen Lun coming downstairs.

"Good morning, Connie. You've worked hard."

Chen Lun greeted her and walked straight to the table to sit down.

The table was full of sandwiches, pies, smoked meat, and some pastries, all handmade by Floey. Chen Lun couldn't wait to cut a piece of meat and popped it into his mouth.

The tender meat fell apart easily, juice spilling out with the slightest bite.

He sipped his tea and felt completely relaxed.

"Have a seat, Connie. Join me."

With a gentle smile, Chen Lun pulled out a chair next to him and gestured casually.

Connie bowed respectfully before sitting down.

After spending so much time together, she had gradually integrated into the group. Mr. Jack had always treated her with courtesy and respect, and deep down, she held great reverence for Mr. Jack.

"Connie, where is Floey?"

Chen Lun asked casually as he ate.

"Miss Floey has returned to her room... Oh yes, she went to your room this morning."

At that, Connie quickly took a sip of tea, her cheeks reddening.

"??"

Chen Lun looked puzzled.

"Last night you came back without closing the door, and this morning when Miss Floey went to find you, you seemed to be still resting... But when I saw the expression on Miss Floey's face as she came out, it seemed a bit odd."

Connie said softly, her tone suddenly hesitant and her words coming in stutters:

"Mr. Jack... do you sleep in your clothes?"

Chen Lun's hand, reaching for the pie, paused, and then he froze.

He realized what he had neglected.

Earlier, he had used the "Rusty Toothpick" to open the Treasure Box, and the side effect was that it made him forget to close doors.

Great...

"Of course, I wear pajamas to bed."

Chen Lun took a bite of the pie and smiled slightly.

But in his mind, he wondered, did I really wear them?.

This morning when he got up, he hadn't paid any attention to that detail. If he hadn't been wearing anything, then Floey had gotten quite the advantage.

He had been careless.

Connie nodded, holding back the urge to continue this conversation and changed the subject:

"Mr. Jack, I have placed the order for the Brewing equipment you requested, and it will be delivered to the manor in the next couple of days."

"Very well."

Chen Lun picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth and then asked:

"How are the equipment from the workshop coming along?"

"The 'Connie No. 1' has been improved numerous times, becoming more stable, and it can store more blended fuel. We've made a total of six so far...

The blueprints for 'Wrath' have been detailed, and the craftsmen are familiar with the forging process. We have produced hundreds of them already, with over twenty thousand rounds of various ammunition. As per your instructions, they are packed into boxes and stored in custom wooden crates."

Seeing Jack give a slight nod, Connie smiled and continued:

"The production process for 'Red Ink' Incendiary Bombs is quite complex, we only have four finished products so far.

All of the above, including material costs, craftsmen's wages, new equipment, and warehouse depreciation, amounts to 206 Gold Pounds, 45 Silver Ducats, and 55 Copper Kros..."

After hearing Connie's report, Chen Lun suddenly felt like money was slipping through his fingers like water.

If it wasn't for the substantial wealth plundered from the Red Apple Church in Amber City, supporting such massive expenses would be quite difficult.

Thank you, Ah Hong!

All these expenses were necessary and his plans were progressing steadily.

"I'll allocate an additional 200 Gold Pounds. Find someone to build more warehouses and residential buildings within the manor... Increase the investment and production of these three types of equipment. Also, I need you to develop a new type of bomb."

Chen Lun instructed.

"Yes, Mr. Jack. May I ask what kind of bomb?"

Connie said earnestly and then inquired.

"Incendiary Bomb."

Chen Lun responded as he took out a piece of paper containing more detailed specifications.

This was an inspiration he had from the Battle of Bradley Square.

If he was pursuing excitement, he might as well commit to it fully.

The Incendiary Bomb seemed like the perfect partner for someone with "Hell Resistance" like himself.

Then let the nickname "100% Bombardier" reverberate through the world.

In the future, such highly lethal bombs would also be an excellent weapon for players. Low-level as they were, but fearless, lacking effective means of output, their own home-made bombs would surely be an irresistible choice for them.

"The more powerful the Incendiary Bomb is, the better. Don't worry about the triggering mechanism, it's best if it acts immediately... Oh yes, if possible, make the flames from the explosion stick to the target, the more thoroughly it burns, the better."

Chen Lun spoke about the requirements in all seriousness.

In his mind's eye flashed a montage—

Players becoming Suicide Soldiers, shouting out strange phrases like "White Emperor Holy Sword," "Detonating Yuan Ying," and "Urah," gripping their targets and plunging into the abyss together, perishing in the flames whilst "singing and dancing" with the enemy. It was indeed a tear-inducing spectacle.

For some reason, Chen Lun was looking forward to it.

"Yes, Mr. Jack."

Connie accepted the paper and secured it safely.

"It's perfect that the knowledge I've derived from that painting is mostly related to flames, and with the experience of forging 'Connie No. 1,' I believe we will be able to produce a sample very soon."

She wore a confident smile.

Chen Lun gave her a thumbs-up, encouragingly:

"Good luck."

Evening.

Chen Lun had finished his bath and was preparing to read by the window while waiting for dinner.

Carrying a towel in his hand, he wiped his wet hair and walked straight out of the bathroom.

Looking up, he couldn't help but startle.

Floey had arrived in his room at some point and was sitting quietly on the small sofa, looking up at him.

Her fair cheeks were slightly flushed.

The afterglow of the setting sun spilled onto her, dyeing her black lace dress with shades of orange-red, creating an image that was both serene and elegant.

"What brings you here, Floey?"

Chen Lun casually walked to the bed, set the towel down, and picked up a neatly folded shirt.

Sensing his movements, Floey pressed her lips together.

Just as Chen Lun was fastening his shirt buttons, he suddenly heard Floey's faint voice from behind:

"I like you…"

Chen Lun paused, a peculiar expression crossing his face.

After putting on his shirt, he turned around, only to see Floey with her head turned, whispering softly:

"It's not love at first sight, but a path of years yet to come, walking side by side.

The setting sun like fire, draped upon you, capturing your silhouette and sealing it in a bottle. Moonlight like water, carrying the bottle to my heart, you are my peace beneath the nightfall."

Chen Lun was about to say something.

Suddenly, Floey raised her small hand.

The "When the Grape Matures" on her finger shone with a faint light, and the blush on Floey's face intensified.

Lifting her cheeks, she brushed aside her light golden bangs behind her ear.

"Hmm, it seems to have lost its supernatural power."

"…"

Chen Lun remained silent for a few seconds before letting out a light chuckle.

He suddenly found Floey quite adorable.

As if nothing had happened, Floey pointed to the small plate on the coffee table, on which sat a piece of cake, with freshly brewed tea beside it.

"Let's have some afternoon tea first, dinner will be a bit late today."

"Mhm."

Chen Lun sat down on the small sofa nearby and took a sip of the tea.

The tea that Floey made tasted different from Connie's.

He glanced at Floey, whose cheeks still held a lingering flush.

"I heard from Connie that you were looking for me this morning?"

Chen Lun said.

"Mhm, remember to put on clothes next time, or you'll catch a cold…"

Floey stopped mid-sentence, then continued,

"It seems to have changed a bit, so I wanted to come and tell you."

Immediately after, she stretched out her palm, placing it on the back of Chen Lun's hand.

A black tendril appeared, entwining their hands together.

The next moment, Chen Lun received some information about the "Sun-avoiding Potted Plant."

After absorbing the "Higher Sequence Flesh Faction Mysterious Substance," Floey's inner mystical contamination reached a delicate balance, and the "Sun-avoiding Potted Plant" also established a deeper connection with Floey.

It unlocked a new supernatural power.

"Eclipse."

It could devour the power of the Sun to gain corresponding Sequence traits and transform them into its own unique supernatural powers.

This ability was limited by Floey's own level, for the time being, she could only devour Low Sequence powers, and she had only one chance.

Chen Lun raised an eyebrow.

According to the description of the "Sun-avoiding Potted Plant," it was born from a Saint who had forsaken the faith in the Sun, yet in the end, it became a Mysterious Object of the Moon Path.

There must be some hidden story behind this.

The ability "Eclipse" also offered some clues, devouring the Sun Sequence to utilize it, merging the characteristics of the Sun to create new powers from the Moon Path.

This power made Chen Lun think of Lafa.

In the battle at Bradley Square, it was the "Moonshine" secret technique, spurred by the combination of the Sun and the Moon, that He had used.

Whoosh…

The black tendril quickly retracted into Floey's hand, and she looked surprised.

"It seems a bit afraid of you…"

Chen Lun, noting its behavior, understood that what the "Sun-avoiding Potted Plant" feared might not be him, but rather the "Wake of Insects" on him.

But he did not voice this guess. With a slight smile, he said:

"I have an idea, but it might need to wait a few days."

Chen Lun's idea involved the painting in the "Bone Gallery" that contained Sun characteristics.

Among the ten major paths, the "Sun Faction" was most known for its skill in crafting. Starting with "Sequence Eight – Artisan," it officially possessed the supernatural power to craft Mysterious Objects.

Conveniently, Noah had such a painting in his possession.

He planned to find a way to get the painting from Noah and then allow Floey to devour it. He was quite looking forward to seeing what effects it would produce in the end.

"Mhm."

Floey nodded.

She sensed the young man beside her pondering deeply and couldn't help but smile.

Floey really liked the feeling of being cared for by him.

After a while.

"I'm going to cook dinner now." Discover more stories at empire

Floey stood up and walked toward the door.

Chen Lun quietly responded, then immediately noticed she had stopped at the door.

Floey turned her head back around, her cheeks once again tinged with red, and said softly,

"Next time you bathe, remember to close the door..."
