Chapter 132: Your Task is Completed (Three in One)
Soon, the five of them met once again.
They looked at the shabby wooden box in the middle of the pond, hesitating in their expressions.
"I'm one hundred percent certain there are creatures in the water. The moment we get close to that treasure box, we'll be slaughtered,"
Doghead Gold sent the message.
"But, we don't have any extra time to continue exploring. Even though we know it's a trap, we must proceed... (resigned expression)"
Horseman replied.
"You guys only have this one life left, but I still have a chance for resurrection. This life doesn't have much Sanity left; I'll take the risk,"
Having sent his message, Polaris walked forward without looking back.
"Be careful, Polaris."
Su Keying advised.
Polaris nodded silently as he walked forward, his vision beginning to blur with afterimages, feeling himself on the verge of insanity.
Reaching the pond's edge, he surveyed the scene briefly and found the water incredibly murky, unable to see anything below. At that moment, it was windless; the entire water surface was utterly calm, like a giant beast's open maw waiting quietly for prey to enter.
Polaris took a deep breath and the very next second, he jumped straight into the water.
Splash! Your next chapter is on empire
Water splashed up from the pond.
He didn't waste any time, swimming straight towards the small chunk of land in the middle of the pond.
The pond wasn't large—merely the size of two or three basketball courts. Polaris was quickly able to swim to his destination.
Yet, just as he made it halfway, he suddenly felt his leg entangled by a large, soft object, and then a colossal force ensued.
Without any room to struggle, he was dragged down.
Gurgling...
Onlookers by the pond only saw Polaris swimming along when suddenly he sank downward, and a few bubbles surfaced—the entire pond then returned to its deadly calm.
"..."
"There really is something in this pond! What happened, Polaris?"
The group exchanged looks, Horseman asked urgently.
"I don't know, but I suspect it's some kind of large creature... maybe an octopus? Or something else, hard to see,"
"Then we can't wait for you, Sanity is continuously decreasing, we can't waste time,"
"Let's go for it, try to grab some loot at least,"
"Spread out before entering the water, to avoid the underwater creature catching us all at once,"
The players briefly exchanged these messages in the public chat.
They spread out around the edge of the pond, each person maintaining a distance of about ten meters.
"I'll count to three, we jump in simultaneously and then just head straight for the treasure box!"
Horseman commanded in the public chat.
"Okay, got it!"
"Understood!"
"Let's start."
However, just as Horseman was preparing to count down, a sudden violent disturbance occurred in the pond.
Splashing!
The surface of the water boiled, casting up sprays of water.
Dozens of dense, small black shadows surged out from the water, charging towards the players on the shore.
"There are creatures! They are coming ashore! Fall back!"
Horseman didn't have time to type in the public chat, so he just shouted.
The others didn't need the reminder—as they saw this scene, they were initially shocked, then quickly retreated.
Once they had recovered their senses, they finally saw clearly what was emerging from the pond and were taken aback.
It was a group of "walking fish" less than a meter tall, with torsos resembling the human body, covered in disgusting scales, their hands and toes grew fins, and they were carrying various rusty knives and fish spears.
Squawk!!
Their fish heads were enormous, almost as large as their torsos. Their mouths kept opening and closing, producing bizarre, frog-like noises while flashing their sharp, tiny teeth.
Swish—!
Their gill parts trembled, spraying out water droplets.
They raised the weapons in their hands, charging towards the players in near-madness.
Bang!!
Horseman was the first to draw Wrath, targeting a walking fish and pulling the trigger.
Small steel pellets sprayed onto it, blasting it several meters away. The rusty iron hook held by the walking fish dropped, and its body tumbled around on the ground, leaking disgusting dark-red blood from those wounds, staining the soil.
What disturbed Horseman was that the eyes on either side of the walking fish's head swiveled to fix on him, filled with malevolence and madness.
Swish!
The row of fins on its back closed; it stopped twitching and was dead.
"[Kill of the Contaminated Supernatural Creature 'Walking Fish,' gain 120 Experience Points!]"
"Don't be afraid, they are actually very weak, but the Experience Points are good. Kill them all!"
Horseman grabbed a handful of steel pellets to reload, fired another shot killing another walking fish, and sent out the tip in the public chat while doing so.
Bang! Bang, bang!!
The others fired rapidly too, their dense pellets instantly killing several walking fish.
However, the ensuing walking fish paid no heed to their fallen comrades. They continued rushing forward, armed with those rusty weapons.
"They are indeed very weak; one shot basically kills one,"
Forget No Taboo replied.
"Keep killing! Over a hundred Experience Points each, where would you find such easy experience creatures?"
Doghead Gold sounded very excited.
His combat enthusiasm was the highest; he efficiently reloaded with his left hand after firing one shot, not pausing at all.
But given the large number of walking fish, they quickly approached the players, raising their weapons to strike.
Squish!
Forget No Taboo was careless, and his arm was slashed.
As blood spurted, he also received a "Continuous Bleeding" DEBUFF effect.
Bang!!
The walking fish in front of Forget No Taboo's huge fish head suddenly exploded, scattering brownish-yellow substances. Its body flew backward, tumbling, and after a few struggles, it stiffened.
Looking back, Polaris was panting heavily and had arrived at the scene.
