Chapter 85
“Uoooooooot…! Psionic Storm!”
Fizzle—
After a long time, Electra was goofing off at the Illusion Tower.
She was enveloped in plasma, trying to imitate the Archon from “Galaxy Craft.”
The Archon could be created by combining two High Templars.
It’s quite a high-tier unit and popular for its cool look covered in plasma.
Electricity Mages can mimic that appearance with their magic.
Recently, whenever the Archon appeared at Trinity, it was always Electricity Mages.
“…The Tower Master isn’t any different.”
“It’s been a while, Riot. ‘Galaxy Craft’ is truly a masterpiece.”
Electra’s personality had changed from the first time I saw her.
Initially, she seemed cold and aloof.
Now, she had a playful demeanor.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it. You’re not still manipulating brainwaves for pleasure, are you?”
“I stopped because you told me to. But like back then…”
Electra slyly leaned closer to me.
With so many eyes around, I subtly pulled back.
“Ahem. Anyway, what brings you here today?”
“I came to show off this. You guys can’t do this, right?”
Electra wrapped herself in plasma again and imitated the Archon.
Did she really come all the way here just to brag about this?
People these days seem to be going crazy.
Not long ago, Dark Elves were researching new materials, claiming they’d copy the equipment of the Terra race.
At this rate, are we really heading to space?
“By the way, are there really such races in space? What even is space to begin with?”
“It’s just a game setting. Of course, I think space exists. But I don’t know how it’s structured.”
There’s probably a similar concept of space in this world.
Would it be the same universe as the one from my past life?
If so, could I ride a spaceship back to Earth?
Thinking this far gave me a headache.
Anyway, it’s something impossible before I die, so I shook my head to clear my thoughts.
“Don’t the people of this world believe there’s a heavenly kingdom beyond the sky?”
“Exactly. But you can’t reach the heavenly kingdom from the intermediate realm.”
“Wouldn’t Wind Mages be able to fly to the edge of the sky?”
“Of course, it’s possible. In fact, the current Wind Tower Master has attempted it.”
“Did they succeed?”
“As they rose higher, the air to manipulate began to dissipate, and they felt something dark was about to swallow them. So they couldn’t go all the way up and came back.”
“Hmm.”
I nodded at the responses, which matched my expectations.
It seems there truly is a universe above the sky.
If so, it means one must transcend dimensions to reach the heavenly kingdom, just like the demon realm.
“That’s why I actually came. Soon, there’s going to be a Trinity Council, and I need to tell Hina to attend.”
“Ah… she hasn’t been going again on her own.”
It seems Hina hadn’t attended the council since the Arcane War.
No doubt she’d be thinking, “Ugh, the council is scary…”
“Is there an important agenda?”
“Right. It seems like all Tower Masters need to gather. The Illusion Tower is somehow related, so Hina must attend. And you have to come too, Riot.”
“Me too?”
“Yeah. You’ll understand the details once you come, so make sure to drag Hina along. Anyway, I have a promise with the full Tower Master and the COL duo, so I’m off…”
Electra looked at the time and dashed back to her tower.
The COL must still be working hard.
“So, is the agenda related to the heavenly kingdom?”
Now that “Galaxy Craft” was stabilizing, I was going to tackle that postponed task, but it felt like another bothersome matter was about to arise.
Still, since I was called directly like this, it seemed I had to go to the council.
A few days later, I headed to the Trinity Council with Hina in tow.
*
In this world, there are three overlapping dimensions.
Heavenly Kingdom, Intermediate Realm, Demon Realm.
The names of each dimension were just labels someone came up with long ago.
The idea that the Heavenly Kingdom is sacred, that the Demon Realm is evil, and that beings of the Intermediate Realm are weak ones stuck in between—all of this is merely a long-formed image.
It wasn’t originally like this; it just became solidified.
However, there was a reason for each dimension to have its own name and image.
First, the beings of the Demon Realm. Demons were born to enjoy fighting and establish hierarchies.
They inherently valued physical strength and thus fought endlessly.
On the other hand, the beings of the Heavenly Kingdom. Celestials were born to discern good and evil.
They inherently believed in inner value and pursued what they believed to be good.
Of course, the so-called “good” they spoke of was just their own arbitrarily defined concept.
And the Intermediate Realm. Various races exist in the Intermediate Realm.
Each has its own characteristics, but there is a commonality.
They are all commoners. They are weak.
Unlike Celestials or Demons, they are not born with any unique special traits.
Instead, they are beings that can “grow.”
They accumulate the growth of previous generations and pass down legacies, gradually evolving throughout their short lives.
The basis of each world is made up of divine power in the Heavenly Kingdom, mana in the Intermediate Realm, and magic in the Demon Realm.
There were many events that took place before the current history came to be.
It’s such a long story that it’s impossible to cover in its entirety.
What’s certain is that at certain times, the Demon King’s army schemes to invade the Heavenly Kingdom through the Intermediate Realm.
The Heavenly Kingdom indirectly supports the Intermediate Realm to prevent Demons from crossing over.
And right now, it had not been long since the previous war ended, and there was still plenty of time until the next war.
In other words, it was the era of peace.
Because of that, the Heavenly Kingdom was peaceful as well.
“Yawn~”
Archangel Raphael lay sprawling in midair, yawning widely.
“The sheep frolic peacefully in the garden, and the snakes hide deep underground. The children are so pure, and faith in the Intermediate Realm shines so brightly; how can this moment not last forever?”
“What nonsense are you spouting, you idiot Raphael? You’ve been slacking off again.”
Thud—Thud—Thud—
An angel flying from somewhere delivered a soccer kick to Raphael.
It was Archangel Uriel.
Uriel had a sword at his waist, and his tightly clenched fist was flickering with flames.
“Argh—ah! Stop it! Stop it, Uriel! You’re so violent! What’s the difference between you and a Demon!”
“What did you say?!”
Thud—Thud—Thud—
Uriel silenced Raphael with fiery punches.
After being thoroughly beaten, Raphael was dragged away looking miserable.
“How unfair. On such a beautiful day, what is this…?”
“The days of the Heavenly Kingdom are always beautiful. Stop talking nonsense and come with me.”
“What on earth is happening, Uriel? It’s not an especially busy time, is it?”
“You’ll find out if you follow me.”
Uriel and Raphael headed somewhere in the Heavenly Kingdom.
There, five Archangels were seated and engaged in conversation.
With the arrival of Uriel and Raphael, all seven Archangels had gathered.
“Were you all gathered here? Something serious must be happening.”
“Shut up and sit down, Raphael.”
As Raphael and Uriel took their seats, the conversation continued.
“…So, there’s something strange about the mana levels in the Intermediate Realm. It hasn’t even been a hundred years since the last war ended.”
A pale-skinned Archangel with long flowing hair spoke.
It was Archangel Sariel.
“With this level of fluctuation, we can only assume that Demon King-level entities are crossing into the Intermediate Realm.”
“What?!”
“The birth of a Demon King has also happened 2,000 years ago.”
“But back then, the Demon King wasn’t wandering the Intermediate Realm alone.”
Currently, there’s something strange going on with the flow of mana in the Intermediate Realm.
The quick birth of a Demon King and a Demon King moving across the Intermediate Realm.
But it didn’t seem like Demons were waging war against the Intermediate Realm.
If that were the case, the mana levels would have skyrocketed.
“What should we do? Should we send a revelation?”
“I think we should observe the situation first. We need to find out what’s happening in the Intermediate Realm.”
“But if it’s a dangerous situation, shouldn’t there have been changes in prayers? The prayers of humans have remained the same. At least they’re not suffering because of Demons.”
“Speaking of which, are the prayers really the same as before? It seems a bit strange lately, doesn’t it?”
Lying half-down, Raphael spoke.
At his words, the other Archangels nodded.
“That’s definitely true. There are so many prayers like, ‘Please make me a challenger’ or ‘I want a redo.’ Words like ‘My Buff?’ have appeared too.”
“Right. There are way too many prayers that sound nonsense. It seems to be about a game or something.”
“Hm. I wonder what that is. But it doesn’t seem to be related to Demons…”
The Archangels fell silent for a moment, pondering.
In the Heavenly Kingdom, just like in the Demon Realm, it was impossible to directly look down on the Intermediate Realm.
They would need to either cross over themselves or use other methods like divine descent.
Or listen through the prayers of the faithful.
“…Let’s issue a revelation.”
Gabriel, who had been silent until now, spoke up.
Issuing a revelation to the Intermediate Realm and designating a saint was his role.
“…Are you sure? What if it just causes unnecessary chaos?”
“But it’s true that a Demon King-level entity is roaming the Intermediate Realm. In that case, we need to issue a revelation to stop that entity.”
“…Let’s proceed as discussed.”
“I think it’s a good idea. At least with that level, we should be able to handle it without much effort.”
Thus, the angels issued a revelation stating, “A powerful and evil Demon is wandering the Intermediate Realm, plotting wicked schemes, and must be stopped.”
And the Pope of the Holy Nation, upon receiving the revelation, panicked.
“…Could this possibly be referring to Demon King Sama?”
