Chapter 25
The top floor of the Electricity Tower. A vast amount of plasma swirled like a storm.
In the center of that space, filled with mana imbued with electrical properties, a woman was sitting in mid-air.
Fizzle—
Plasmas creating big and small sparks with each collision.
All those electric strands were directed at her, but her expression remained calm.
She was already the embodiment of electricity itself.
Crackle—
A gigantic book hovered beside her in the air.
Complex magical formulas flipped rapidly at a glance.
The woman murmured incantations for a while before suddenly closing the book.
And at that moment, the plasma that had filled the air came to a halt.
“Master Tower.”
As the woman exited the room, an Electricity Mage was waiting for her.
The woman’s identity was the Electricity Tower Master, Electra.
She was greeted by her disciple and prospective Tower Master candidate, Leah.
“The council has contacted us.”
“I understand.”
Electra donned her robe without even hearing the details.
After all, she had come out of her room for that very purpose.
The only times Electra left her research room were during the regular meetings of the Council.
As she headed towards the Trinity Council, Electra was lost in thought.
It was about the magic she had been researching up to that point.
A large-scale electric magic she had been developing for the past three years.
Once completed, this magic would have the power to paralyze even a kingdom’s castle.
Of course, it wouldn’t be used.
The times were peaceful, and there was no longer any need for wizards to fight.
This was something agreed upon by the Grand Wizards of Trinity long ago.
Wizards are seekers.
Thanks to that agreement, wizards were able to devote themselves entirely to the study of magic.
In other words, it meant that wizards were now beings who spent their entire lives researching magic in a tower.
Occasionally presenting artifacts to the world was about the extent of it.
Of course, that was the essence of being a wizard.
Electra sometimes felt a sense of boredom.
It took years to complete a single spell.
It felt like she was leading a life devoid of achievement.
From time to time, Electra wondered how elves managed to endure long ages in the forests.
In her musings, Electra arrived at the central council building of Trinity.
There, other Tower Masters had already arrived.
“Electra~ hurry up-! You’re the last one here, even though you’re an electrifying mage.”
The Fire Tower Master exclaimed while digging his nose as he spotted her.
“What’s the agenda today?”
“Oh, it’s the usual. Nothing special except for the fact that the Illusion Tower has submitted a proposal?”
“The Illusion Tower?”
“They say ‘Maple Leaf Story’ is causing quite a stir in the world.”
“Maple Leaf Story?”
“You should talk to your disciples about what’s going on in the world sometimes. I can tell you’ve been holed up on your own.”
The Fire Tower Master, Pyreus, explained the happenings related to “Maple Leaf Story” to Electra.
“I don’t quite get it. So people are going wild over a world created by illusion?”
“Seems like it. I’ve never tried it myself. In fact, I doubt anyone here has experienced any artifacts from the Illusion Tower.”
Most Tower Masters were quite insular, so they were rarely aware of world events.
The fact that even a few of them knew about “Maple Leaf Story” clearly indicated its overwhelming popularity.
Of course, getting approval for mass production was a different story.
If given the nod for mass production, the council would provide another artifact that allowed for artifact production without manual labor,
Thus enabling much quicker mass production compared to doing it by hand.
The judgment regarding this would be strictly determined by Tower Masters.
They would assess whether this artifact could spread across the world based on its magical value and influence.
“…I still don’t understand.”
Electra remained baffled by the artifact known as “Maple Leaf Story.”
The idea that people could get so excited over something that had no tangible form just baffled her.
She figured, as always, that it would probably be dismissed.
Most of the insular Tower Masters shared the same sentiment.
“…Then the next agenda concerns the Illusion Tower’s ‘Maple Leaf Story’ artifact.”
As a few agendas passed, it was now the turn of the Illusion Tower.
“…It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Illusion Tower Master. But who is that guy next to you?”
“Just a wizard from the Illusion Tower. They say he created ‘Maple Leaf Story.’”
Electra and Pyreus whispered to each other, watching the two.
“Uh, um… this artifact is…”
The cute-looking Illusion Tower Master began to explain the artifact.
As she stumbled over her words, the disciple next to her began explaining instead.
“Hmm…”
After the explanation, it was time for the vote.
Electra pondered whether to vote yes or no.
“I get what it was made for. The magical aspects seem to have taken a lot of effort. But…”
While Electra was lost in thought, most of the Tower Masters had cast their votes.
Most had already voted against it simply because it was from the Illusion Tower.
After some deliberation, Electra ended up voting against it.
She had seriously considered the artifact’s value and the complexity of the magic.
But the very idea of spreading an illusionary world among the people felt utterly ridiculous.
She still couldn’t understand why people were so fervent about “Maple Leaf Story.”
“4 in favor, 27 against. The motion is dismissed.”
The announced result made the Illusion Tower Master sway back in shock.
Thus, the cheerful rebellion of the Illusion Tower seemed to come to an end.
But just as the next agenda was about to be announced—
“Wait a moment!”
The Illusion Tower Master’s disciple shouted.
“…What do you think you’re doing?”
The Space Tower Master, currently presiding over the council, frowned.
The other Tower Masters murmured, equally perturbed by the interruption.
These Masters were individuals who had reached realms inaccessible to mere wizards.
For a still green wizard to interrupt their discussion was, to say the least, rude.
“I sincerely apologize for interrupting the meeting. I’m Rai Ote, the Illusion Mage. I created ‘Maple Leaf Story.’”
“And? If you interrupted the meeting for something pointless, you’ll have to face the consequences.”
Wizards are exceedingly logical beings.
On the flip side, it meant that if Rai’s reasoning was valid, they might actually listen.
“It seems an important procedure was missed. Normally, when assessing the value of an artifact, don’t we demonstrate it first? But there were no such proceedings for ‘Maple Leaf Story.'”
Electra nodded.
That was a valid point.
Though she suspected it wouldn’t change the outcome.
“I concede. However, at the chair’s discretion, if there’s an issue with demonstrating it in this space, the demonstration can be restricted. ‘Maple Leaf Story’ is an artifact that allows one to experience an illusory world, correct?”
“That’s right.”
“And each person would experience going into the illusory world once. Can you provide that experience for everyone now?”
Rai pondered for a moment.
“…It’s possible. I’ve brought enough. However, it may be difficult to convey the value of ‘Maple Leaf Story’ in a short time. If everyone creates their characters and finishes the tutorial, it will take a while.”
“So that means it’s impossible.”
The chair turned away again.
It seemed like the situation was coming to a close, but then—
“Instead, I think this could work.”
“What is it?”
“It’s an artifact we have presented under the name ‘Championship of Legends.’ We’ve submitted a request for its mass production as well.”
“Hmm… indeed the next agenda is for the mass production approval of ‘Championship of Legends.'”
“Yes. This artifact is of a similar type to ‘Maple Leaf Story.’ And it should take about 30 minutes for one round. If this artifact is approved, I would like to request a re-evaluation of ‘Maple Leaf Story.'”
The chair, the Space Tower Master, pondered for a moment before responding.
“Let’s proceed with that. After all, it was already next in order. But be careful next time. Since it was the next order, there was no need for unnecessary conversation.”
“Ah, yes… I’m sorry.”
After all, things would move forward even if one stayed quiet.
The Tower Masters were annoyed at wasting their energy.
What had to happen, happened.
Most of them placed extreme emphasis on efficiency, so Rai’s attitude was deemed inappropriate for a wizard.
Rai distributed the prepared ‘Championship of Legends’ to the Tower Masters.
The demonstration would include 30 Tower Masters, except for Hina.
The Tower Masters quickly read the composition of the artifact at first glance.
Though it was a different type of magic, it didn’t seem particularly dangerous.
“Once you activate the artifact, you’ll be connected instantly. I’ll set the matchups at random. First, the basic rules…”
Rai explained about ‘Championship of Legends.’
It was described as a small war format where teams of five would destroy each other’s bases.
However, within it, each would choose unique avatars and fight with various spells and attacks.
It didn’t make much sense just hearing about it, but Rai insisted they would adapt quickly once they tried it.
In reality, the intellect of the Tower Masters was far superior to that of ordinary people, so he was right.
“Alright, everyone, activate the artifact. Once inside, I’ll guide you through the rooms and the champion selection process.”
Completing his explanation, Rai activated the artifact himself.
The Tower Masters followed suit, activating ‘Championship of Legends.’
Some among the Tower Masters seemed annoyed, but they still complied.
It was a rule to try before deciding if they could demonstrate.
Thus, the first game of ‘Championship of Legends’ was held by the Tower Masters of Trinity.

Electra felt a great sense of boredom in her life as a Tower Master.
A life with little achievement. Taking years to finally complete a single spell.
When she first became a wizard, every day was exciting.
Every day brought new spells to learn and growth to achieve.
She enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment growing day by day.
But ever since she became a Tower Master, it had been different.
Reaching the pinnacle of electrical magic.
To rise even higher now took years.
Her sense of achievement gradually diminished. In fact, it was almost non-existent.
Other wizards claim they feel extreme pleasure after spending years completing a spell.
But Electra was not one of those people.
Unlike other wizards, she actually preferred the feeling of achievement itself.
Living for so long without accomplishment, that life began to feel increasingly tedious.
Having to research endlessly without satisfaction or joy for years on end.
Until she encountered the artifact of the Illusion Tower.
“No! Ice Tower Master, what are you doing? Insert the stun!”
“I… I can’t…”
“Just use your ultimate already! Hurry!”
Boom—
“Nice!”
—The conqueror of the battlefield!
That day, she discovered a new world.
