Chapter 11 – Honest conversation with Rimuru.
After a few minutes of waiting outside, Nahida saw the house's front door being opened, and from there, slime came out. Yes, Rimuru was not using his human form but his original form.
Nahida saw him and gave a smile.
"I brought some things you asked for, but I couldn't buy the power generator. I'll need a little more time."
"That was faster than I thought." After approaching, Rimuru transformed in front of Nahida, who took a step back on instinct. Seeing Rimuru transform in the anime and in person was very different.
It was bizarre.
"My town has a manga store, so it was easy. But I also bought some mangas online. Also, I brought two portable video games. You gave me a lot of money, so I brought the highest quality video games in Japan."
Nahida handed the bag to Rimuru, and he pulled out the two boxes inside.
"Nintendo Switch?" Nahida was sure that the Nintendo Switch existed when 'Slime' was created, but apparently, Rimuru didn't know about the existence of it.
"Yes. I also brought some games, like Pokemon."
"Pokemon?! But I've never seen that one before."
"It's a new game."
"I see. I'm looking forward to playing it. But all these manga and novels, I don't know any of them."
"I decided to pick up the recently released. Do you want me to bring some older stuff?"
"I would like to continue reading Dragon ball super."
"Dragon ball super? Well, I can buy it." Nahida wasn't a big fan of dragon ball, so he had no idea that Dragon ball super was still in release.
"Right, thank you very much. So, how about coming in and taking a bath with me?" Rimuru pointed to his house.
"Are you sure? But I don't know if I should do that, I need to take care of the hotel."
"I'm sure that girl called Shelly will be able to care for everything, don't worry so much." Rimuru turned around carrying the big bag in his small hand, and Nahida looked at his back.
He didn't know what to do, should he enjoy it or go back?
'But I've only been gone a short while; it's okay to stay here a little longer, right?'
"That's fine, but I won't be here long."
"If you want to eat, know a big banquet is prepared. Typical Japanese food here, and I'm sure you'll love it."
"... I'll think about it."
Nahida wasn't very hungry, but it was tempting.
####
Nahida entered the not very decorated house, and right as he walked in, he met Shion. She is a beautiful woman with big breasts and a horn in the middle of her forehead—a girl who was an ogre and evolved into a Kijin.
Her hair had a flashy color that was uncommon on Earth, just like Rirumu's. Nahida's stares at her made her a little irritated. Shion wrinkled her brow.
Nahida then looked away and observed her interaction with Rimuru.
As soon as she started talking to him, a bright smile appeared. That was how much she loved this slime. Nahida can't help but smile. How lucky Rimuru was.
But he knew Rimuru would not do something with these beautiful girls. Japanese authors are hard to understand.
'I wish they would be a bit more daring.' If your work is not focused on an adult audience, it is unlikely to have any contact between a man and a woman. That was how most Japanese works are.
Nahida gave a bitter smile, and after Shion left them alone, they went to the hot bath together. As Nahida imagined, Rimuru transformed into his Slime form before entering the bath.
Not that he expected to see anything.
"So, how's Japan?" Rimuru asked after the two entered the hot bath. Nahida rested his back on the stones and sighed. That bath was so good it could be compared to the best baths in Japan.
"How is Japan? How can I say... The economy is still stagnant."
"I'm not asking that; I'm asking about the entertainment. Have many anime come out recently?"
"How can I say that? Most of the anime that came out are 'isekais'. Not a surprise, right?"
"Oh, sure." Rimuru "shook" his slime head. "Even back when I died and was reincarnated here, the number of 'isekais' released every season was staggering. The Japanese like that, don't they?"
"Maybe because of the pressure of living in Japanese society...They want to get rid of everything and go to a new world. I went through that when I was younger."
"Younger? How old are you?"
"It may not look like it, but I'm 32. Next year I'll be 33."
"33? You look much younger."
"You're also older than you look, aren't you?"
"A little. Hahaha."
Then an awkward silence hung in the air. Nahida cleared his throat and opened his mouth to try and start another conversation.
"Rimuru, I'd like to try utilizing magic. Can you help me?"
"You? Use magic? But aren't you from Japan?"
"If I come to this world, I must have the ability for something like that, no? Since humans in this world can use magic, maybe my body has adapted to it too."
"Not everyone can, you know. And not everyone can get strong. But I don't care; the big problem is how I'll do it." Rimuru thought for a while and figured he could utilize the Great Sage.
The Great Sage could help him with that.
"There's no need to rush. If I can't utilize magic, that's fine. I find magic an interesting concept and have always wanted the opportunity to try it."
"And on earth, that was impossible."
"The animes I've watched since I was little has made me a very dreamy man, no? And I'm too old to think about magic and stuff."
"You can dream about that kind of thing. Everyone has their childish side. And I'm sure any Japanese who came to this world would dream of using magic too. They just need to confirm the existence of different worlds for their minds 'explode'."
"My mind hasn't 'exploded', but I'm still trying to digest all this."
"Hahaha, it took me a while, you know? I never thought I would become a protagonist of a fantasy light novel. It was surprising... Becoming a monster like a Slime."
"I don't know if I could handle it. Turning into a slime..."
"At first, it was a bit scary since I couldn't see anything. I was completely lost. But after I met Veldora, everything changed, and I greatly enjoyed this new life."
"You didn't like your old life?"
"It's not that I didn't like it... But I didn't have much to lose, you know? I spent most of my days working... and I didn't have a girlfriend or many friends either. Although I did die protecting a friend."
"I'm sorry about that."
"At least he's alive and must be enjoying his relationship very much. That asshole." Rimuru spoke in a joking tone. Nahida realized that Rimuru quite liked that friend he left behind in Japan.
But did that friend even exist? Nahida wondered.
So, Rimuru and Nahida stayed in the bath for another 30 minutes before leaving. The two wore white robes and then went to an exclusive Japanese-style room. It had a table with a heater under it.
Nahida sat on the floor facing Nahida, and after a few minutes, a goblin girl came in to serve the food to the two.
"I thought you would have a banquet."
"Since our conversation was so interesting, I decided to eat alone with you so we could continue."
"I see..."
