Is It Wrong to Abusing Cartoon Tropes in Dungeon?

Chapter 117: 117 Rokushiki

Ais ultimately held herself back. Her instincts told her that stepping onto that glowing white line would allow her to unleash the strongest strike. Yet, those same instincts warned her that if she did, Bete would die.

Considering that Bete was her companion, killing him wouldn't be easy to explain. So, Ais gave up on the opportunity. She released the hilt of her sword and looked at Bete with a mix of annoyance and disappointment. If only this guy were a dungeon monster, she thought. Then I could've mastered that strongest strike without hesitation.

On the battlefield, Bete, who had just been sent flying by Tiona's attack, found no respite. Taking advantage of his airborne vulnerability, Tiona swung her massive greatsword toward him again.

Meanwhile, Altair continued his commentary.

"Bete's rapid movements earlier were clearly the result of activating Wolf's Breath, a unique ability only accessible to werewolves. Wolf's Breath greatly enhances physical strength, but Bete clearly didn't anticipate that Tiona's attack would have an area-of-effect impact, sending him flying."

"Indeed," Finn nodded in agreement. "Bete's speed was impressive, but there's no way he could've predicted that Tiona's strike would cause such an explosive shockwave."

Finn observed Tiona carefully. Though he was familiar with her power level, the sheer destruction she caused went beyond expectations. This must be the true power of Gale Swordsmanship, he thought. Incredible. It's even turned Tiona into a strength-type combatant. The earlier charging shield wall and that roar—it stunned Bete on the spot. Even though Bete has resistance to abnormal conditions, the level of that roar was too high. In a battle between experts, even a split-second stun can decide the outcome.

If it weren't just a sparring match, and Tiona had used the blade instead of the flat of her sword, that strike could've killed Bete instantly.

"Tiona's attacking again! Bete is still mid-air after being knocked back. With no foothold to ground himself, there's no way for him to dodge this attack—unless he manages to use The Six Powers of the Werewolf at the last moment."

"The Six Powers of the Werewolf?"

Everyone, including Tiona and Bete on the battlefield, perked up at Altair's words.

"Exactly. The Six Powers of the Werewolf is a combat technique exclusive to werewolves, and it can only be performed after activating Wolf's Breath. As we all know, werewolves have exceptional physical strength, capable of enduring loads that would break a human body. Wolf's Breath amplifies this strength, allowing the werewolf's body to perform techniques that surpass normal physical limits. One such technique is The Six Powers of the Werewolf!"

As Altair spoke, Tiona's greatsword slammed into Bete. He was sent flying again, but this time, he didn't feel any pain. When he landed, he remained firmly on his feet, arms crossed in front of him, as though shielding himself.

"Ah, what a shame," Altair continued. "Tiona's attack was too slow. Bete managed to execute one of the Six Powers—Iron Block."

"What kind of technique is that?" Finn asked, his curiosity piqued.

"The technique Bete is using is called Iron Block, one of the Six Powers. By channeling Wolf's Breath, his blood circulation accelerates drastically, increasing his muscle tension to extreme levels. This hardens his body to the point where it becomes as durable as steel. In this state, ordinary blades or weapons can't penetrate his defenses."

"Exactly!"

On the battlefield, Bete slowly lowered his arms. At the moment of impact earlier, his instincts had kicked in, forcing him to raise his arms and tighten his body. In an instant, he had activated Iron Block, taking Tiona's strike head-on without injury.

"This," Bete growled, his eyes gleaming with pride, "is my Iron Block, one of the Six Powers of the Werewolf!"

Bete shamelessly declared that the technique he just used was his own invention.

Altair, who had been observing from the sidelines, nearly burst out laughing but managed to hold it in. He resumed his commentary.

"Now, it seems Bete is going to get serious. Up until now, his exchanges with Tiona were likely just probes—he was probably trying to gauge the strength of Tiona's new abilities."

"What?!"

Tiona was startled by Altair's words. She glared at Bete, who stood confidently a short distance away, showing no sign of defense.

"Bete, you jerk! You've been hiding such powerful techniques all this time and never used them!"

"Hmph. Against trash, there's no need to bother using these," Bete replied smugly, clearly enjoying the opportunity to flaunt his skills.

Altair chimed in again, giving Bete the perfect excuse for his display.

"It looks like Bete is about to launch an attack. Among the Six Powers of the Werewolf, the one best suited for offense is Shave."

"Shave?"

"Yes. Thanks to the werewolf race's incredible physical durability, they can endure tremendous strain while executing even more powerful techniques. Bete will use his legs to stomp the ground dozens of times within a second. The resulting force propels him forward at incredible speeds, allowing him to move so fast that he appears to vanish to the naked eye. He'll reappear right in front of Tiona to deliver an attack. If Bete successfully uses this move, Tiona won't have time to react."

So that's how it works!

Bete, listening intently, immediately began stomping the ground furiously with his feet. The ground beneath him cracked and shattered under the intense force. Then, with a sudden burst of speed, Bete shot toward Tiona like a bullet.

However, to his misfortune, his trajectory was slightly off. Instead of landing in a favorable position, he ended up directly in front of Tiona's greatsword, right in her strike zone.

"What?!"

Tiona was startled again. But upon realizing that Bete had landed right in front of her weapon, she wasted no time. She dashed forward, activating her Shield Wall, and immediately followed up with a Soul-Shaking Roar, her cooldown having just reset.

Bete, who had just executed Shave, was caught completely off guard. The roar stunned him on the spot, rendering him helpless.

Tiona didn't miss the opportunity and launched into her Faltering Dance combo. Bete, still stunned, had no time to use Iron Block to defend himself. He was pummeled mercilessly and sent flying once again.

"Ah, what a shame! It looks like Bete's Shave went off-course, and he got caught in Tiona's combo!" Altair remarked, perfectly timing his commentary.

"This chain attack landed flawlessly. Unless Bete uses Moon Step, he won't be able to escape the third strike of Faltering Dance, which will send him flying."

As soon as Altair finished his sentence, Bete suddenly stomped both feet against the ground and leaped into the air. While airborne, he began kicking his legs rapidly, keeping himself suspended midair. By doing so, he avoided touching the ground entirely, nullifying the final area-of-effect strike from Tiona's combo.

"What?!"

This marked the third time in mere moments that Tiona shouted in shock.

She stared at Bete, who hovered in the air, her disbelief quickly turning into frustration.

"Bete, you jerk! Just how many techniques are you hiding?!"

Finn was equally astonished but chose not to look at Bete. Instead, he fixed his gaze on Altair.

You… How many more skills do you have up your sleeve to teach people?!
