Chapter 15: flaxan invasion 2
The young lad then began absorbing the concrete on the ground and then multiplied himself several hundreds of times.
Creating dozens and dozens of his own clones, easily mimicking Kate's duplicating abilities but to a greater degree.
"Multi–shadow clone jutsu"
All the clones screamed in unison as they did the cross hand sign for the shadow clone jutsu before laughing at their own reference.
Everyone in the group found themselves shocked at such a sight, Kate more so than anyone, she hadn't thought she'd see someone other than her brother who could duplicate, she had mixed feelings about it.
Just as everyone was slack jawed by Kevin's display of his power, the shield Eve had made suddenly splintered like glass and collapsed, and an energy beam from the flaxan tanks smashed through it like a sledgehammer.
The beam didn't stop there,it bashed through even the buildings nearby and absolutely tanked the property value of the neighbourhood. It was less of a laser and more like a concussive blast of energy.
Kevin and his clones sprung into action and intercepted the attacks from the soldiers, having absorbed the concrete made him durable enough to withstand being shot by their lasers, allowing his clones to get close enough to the flaxan soldiers to punch them in the face.
And that is exactly what they did. Each of his clones began wailing on their chosen enemy, transforming their limbs into weapons and attacked by either stabbing or by hammering and bashing their skulls.
The green blood of the aliens began to spill as Kevin displayed a ruthlessness that was unlike a hero, however none of the heroes on his side judged him for it, this was an invasion, morals went out the window.
This allowed the heroes to hold off the invasion, halting the flaxan advance dead on its tracks. As Kevin was dealing with the aliens, Rex-plode was the first to speak.
"Whoa! Can you do that?"
He asked in both shock and amazement, unfortunately before Kate could answer, the Flaxans fired their tank cannon and shot a beam of yellow energy that eviscerated half of Kevin's clones and gouged our significant portions of the ground.
Kevin, however, was undeterred, as he spawned more clones, this time flooding the entire area, like ants.
It was unfortunate that the tank needed a minute or two to recharge, more than enough time for Kevin to allocate some clones to go and demolish the tank, and the clones did exactly that.
Although he did find out that his clones could not absorb matter, only him the original, something he did not mind at all.
[WHAT THE HELL! KILL THOSE THINGS YOU INCOMPETENT FOOLS!! I WILL NOT BE DISGRACED HERE!]
The flaxan general shouted at his foot soldiers as they seemed to have trouble killing or even harming Kevin. Unfortunately, his orders did not make anything better or give the soldiers a power boost.
Kevin and his clones mercilessly slaughtered them. From a bird's eye view, it would look like a colony of black ants butchering another colony of green ants, ruthlessly spilling their blood with zero care and empathy.
[I said–]
The Flaxan general was about to shout more useless orders when all of a sudden his skin rapidly began gaining wrinkles, he felt his bones grow frail and he saw his own soldiers suddenly die from the rapidly ageing, All the while the enemy did not stop attacking.
[RETREAT!!]
Much to his own chagrin, the Flaxan general ordered his troops to retreat back into the portal. However, as he did, he couldn't help but look back at his foes.
He felt a sense of rage, this was supposed to be his triumphant victory, one that would shoot his career to the stars but here he was forced to run in disgrace, it was unacceptable and he swore to return.
"What's happening? Why are they running and getting… old?"
Watching the Flaxans retreat, Rex spoke first, questioning what he was seeing. Robot was quick to note their reasons for retreating and why it seemed like they were rapidly ageing.
"It's seems that our time stream moves faster than theirs, causing them to rapidly age the more they stay here"
The Robot offered a concise explanation, and hearing those words from the leader, Rex-plode spoke.
"Take that you alien zucchini Bitches!"
Rex-plode shouted in both triumph and excitement. Eventually all the flaxans that hadn't died of old age were able to return back into the portal and left the Earth having done minimal damage.
"And that ladies and gentlemen is how you stand on fucking business!"
Kevin expressed as he dusted off his hand and undid all the clones and returned to his singular self once more.
"Oh please, we had it handled. We didn't need your help"
Rex gave his comment as he folded his arms, causing his teammates to shake their heads but ultimately ignored his words.
"Thank you for the help Kevin, we appreciate it, ignore Rex he's just jealous"
Eve informed and Kevin simply shrugged at her words as if it was nothing, he knew she would be using this incident today as a talking point on why he should be a hero.
"Eve is right, Thanks for you help we–"
Kate spoke as she got closer to Kevin and shook his hand with both her own, a gesture Kevin could only raise a brow at in slight intrigue.
Unfortunately she couldn't finish her sentence, as invisible soldiers suddenly appeared out of nowhere carrying guns and began flooding the place, they were followed by a mam also suddenly teleportating right beside the teen team.
"Alright teen team, I'm gonna need you to tell me exactly what happened, here"
Director of the GDA spoke with authority, Cecil Stedmam, the current director of the Global defence force was a man of average height, white skin and a scar on the side of his mouth and a massively receding hairline . His face portrayed a no nonsense attitude and an expression that told he was in charge.
"Oh great, the big boss man has arrived, right after we took care of everything, go ahead boss man, save us from the aliens "
Rex said as he threw his hands in the air, showing his disapproval at the arrival of the GDA, however his words went unheard as Cecil simply turned to Robot, completely ignoring Rex.
Robot then began to tell Cecil all that he needed to, including his own speculations and possible return of the aliens.
While that was happening Kevin elected to take his leave, however Eve stopped him.
"Where are you going?"
She asked, folding her hands as she did so.
"Nowhere and everywhere"
He answered jokingly and she frowned in slight disapproval. He said something similar last time as well.
"Are you seriously just going to leave? You did good here today, this could be a start of your journey to be a hero"
"Please don't try to use another speech stolen from the immortal again, and yes, I will just leave, I told you being a hero ain't my cup of tea."
He said as he began to walk away but unfortunately Eve was persistent in her pursuit. Something he found a bit annoying.
"Where are you gonna go then? some rundown apartment? or are you going to rob a bank just so you can afford a place to stay"
'wow it's Naruto references galore today'
He thought, first it was him practically using the shadow jutsu earlier and now we have a pink character yelling at a character wearing a blue shirt and asking them not to go. All Kevin has to do is turn around and call her annoying to complete the reference.
"She's right Kid, you got too much potential to be doing petty crimes like robbing a bank"
Before Kevin could even try to complete the Naruto reference Cecil spoke, adding onto Eve's words.
"If it's a money issue, There's already few heroes that get paid a lot of money, you wouldn't be the first"
The director of the GDA added a bit of spice to make his argument a bit more compelling, he was aware of Kevin at least through the files the GDA had confiscated from the U.S Military.
The GDA had largely stayed away from Superhumans that could hardly consent, they only approach 16 and above, it also didn't help that Kevin had no concrete way to be tracked and the GDA is a busy organisation, it can't spend resources willy nilly however Kevin had been a super Cecil had thought to bring into the fold.
Kevin didn't respond to the Director. The money definitely did add spice to the deal and it tempted him just a bit
"The money is tempting but not being a hero is more of personal preference than anything."
"Then what is that personal preference, kid? I assure we can work around it"
Cecil pressed, quickly taking over the conversation, while the Director asked what happened that didn't mean he didn't see what happened, Kevin proved to have a potential to be a valuable asset.
Kevin didn't answer the answer he had told Eve the other day when they spoke about why he doesn't want to be a hero was only one part of his reasoning. He had a more morally complex reason that he was certain she wouldn't like.
"Tell you what, why don't you think about it and if you decide you want this hero life, contact me"
Cecil stated before he took out a small device similar to a pager and threw it at Kevin who caught it.
"Yeah sure, I can do that, later"
The young lad then proceeded to walk away
