Chapter 83: Omni-Man, what is he doing?
"Listen, Mark, your dad is going to conquer the world. You and Russell need to stop him."
Seeing her son return, Debbie wiped away her tears. As the only adult in the family, she had to be strong now.
"What?"
Mark was stunned, as if he hadn't heard clearly.
In fact, he had heard clearly—but his father, Omni-Man, the superhero who had always protected Earth, was going to conquer the world?
"Mark, there's no time to explain. The Global Guardians were killed by your dad. He's been lying to us all along. His mission from the Vitrurum Empire was to conquer this world."
Debbie pushed Mark outside, urging him to go with his cousin Russell to catch up to Omni-Man and stop him before he caused irreversible damage to the planet.
"Get ready, Ciscel." Russell took out an earphone and put it on.
"Ready for what?" Looking at his cousin, who was serious and seemed prepared, Mark felt his head was about to explode. The sheer amount of information was overwhelming.
Russell sympathetically patted his cousin's shoulder and left first, letting Aunt Debbie continue to explain the situation.
The shock was too sudden. Mark, who had been kept in the dark, couldn't immediately accept the reality. But it didn't matter; Russell had already prepared for the possibility that Mark wouldn't be much help.
"Omni-Man has appeared over Yellowstone Park."
At the Global Defense Agency, Ciscel was already tracking Omni-Man via satellite.
"Yellowstone Park?"
Russell's expression shifted.
Beneath Yellowstone lies one of Earth's most destructive supervolcanoes:
A magma chamber about 70 kilometers in diameter and 10 kilometers thick, only 8 kilometers from the surface at its shallowest point. Constantly expanding.
If it erupts, most life on Earth could be wiped out.
"Omni-Man's goal is to conquer the world, not destroy it. He probably wants to use this volcano to threaten the countries of Earth into surrendering immediately."
Russell said.
"Send Eternal Man. I'll be there right away."
"Wait, Russell. I'll go with you. I need to ask Dad... has he been lying to us all these years? If everything is fake—what is real?"
Aunt Debbie quickly told her son everything: the blood-stained suit, Omni-Man's confession. Mark clenched his fists, fury rising as the truth hit him like a punch to the gut.
---
The last ray of twilight sank below the horizon, and the night sky over Yellowstone Park was dotted with campfires and lanterns like a sea of stars.
A group of people were having a barbecue party, filming the meat on the grill, when suddenly someone caught sight of something on their phone screen.
"That's... look at that!"
The man wearing a baseball cap pointed at the sky.
Everyone looked. Someone zoomed in with a phone lens and saw the familiar red cape—Omni-Man—hovering above the Yellowstone volcano.
His cape fluttered in the evening wind. His face was shadowed, unreadable.
"It's Omni-Man!" the crowd cheered.
Someone started a livestream.
"Why is he here? Is he on a mission? Omni—"
Before the cheers even faded—
RUMBLE—!!!
Nolan dove down like a missile, slamming his fist into the Earth.
The air compressed with a shockwave visible to the naked eye.
Tourists were knocked off their feet. Tents and tables flew into the sky. The ground cracked like eggshell. A bottomless fissure spread from the epicenter.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
As people scrambled to their feet, the ground continued to tremble violently, like a furious beast waking up. Screams echoed as the realization sank in.
"What is Omni-Man doing?! Is there some monster down there?!"
Someone who had read up on Yellowstone turned pale with fear.
"You can't fight here!"
"If the Yellowstone caldera is destabilized, it could erupt—and the whole world will end!"
BEEP. BEEP.
> "Magnitude 6.3 earthquake detected!"
"Magma pressure rising sharply!"
Alarms rang through the park. News helicopters closed in.
Dust and smoke swirled. Omni-Man's red cape billowed in the chaos, his fists hammering down on granite like it was foam.
Each strike triggered quakes felt hundreds of miles away.
"Omni-Man, what is he doing?" a reporter gasped.
Nolan paused, noticing the helicopter nearby.
He could pierce through kilometers of rock in seconds—but he was deliberately holding back.
The Vitrurum Empire needed a living planet. Not a scorched husk.
Now, the whole world was watching.
Omni-Man suddenly appeared before the helicopter. The reporters inside screamed.
He snatched the camera, pointed it at himself. Cold. Unfeeling.
"Listen well, countries of Earth."
His voice was like metal grinding against bone, broadcast across the planet.
> "You have 24 hours to disband all armies and destroy your nuclear weapons, or I will detonate this supervolcano.
A new era is coming—whether you're ready or not."
He swung his fist. The helicopter spiraled away, trailing black smoke.
The world watched in horror.
The superhero who once saved Earth… was now threatening to end it.
Inside the helicopter, screams pierced the feed. Viewers averted their eyes.
Suddenly—
WHOOSH!
A black figure shot through the sky like lightning. An arm reached out—caught the helicopter.
"Uncle, it's not too late to stop."
Holding the helicopter, Russell raised his head. Calm light burned in his eyes.
"Russell? You came after all."
Omni-Man had planned to kill a few people live—to prove he wasn't bluffing. But now, he was interrupted.
His face darkened.
"You remember what I said."
He dove down again, aiming to smash the helicopter—and punch Russell straight in the face.
"Do you really think sacrificing your life for a group of strangers is worth it?!"
WHOOSH!
A figure blocked his path.
Mark—arms spread wide, face blazing with fury.
"Enough, Father!"
"Mark?"
A vein bulged on Nolan's temple.
The world watched. From London bars to Paris subways, from Moscow squares to mountain camps.
At Yellowstone, the man who first spotted Nolan had collapsed, phone still pointed skyward.
The livestream comments exploded. Viewers surged past ten million.
People stared at the screen, trembling:
"This is impossible… this isn't the Omni-Man we know..."
"Infinite! Is that Infinite?!"
"And In... Invincible! They've come to stop Omni-Man!"
"Is Omni-Man being mind-controlled?!"
"He's the most powerful hero on Earth… if he's turned, who can stop him?"
"Earth is finished!"
"Can Infinite and Invincible stop him?!"
