"Unlucky!"
Within the mountains, Chen Jichuan coughed up blood, his face pale and gaunt.
A hundred years ago, he was injured by a sword strike; now, a century later, the same posture and situation repeats itself. It was truly suffocating.
Moreover, the injury this time was far more severe than the one hundreds of years ago.
Back then, that malicious swordsman had only delivered a hurried strike while chasing him down. But this time, the enemy had blocked the entrance to the Immortal Gate World, sat cross-legged in the void, and continuously accumulated Sword Qi. Only after Chen Jichuan approached did they unleash this fully-charged strike. It almost split Chen Jichuan in two.
Fortunately, the 'Nine Treasures Glazed Tower' shielded him from most of the force, combined with multiple layers of protective spells and the Triple Immortal Light guarding his body. Only through this did his life manage to be spared.
However, the sharpness of the Sword Qi inflicted severe damage—not only was the 'Nine Treasures Glazed Tower' heavily damaged, with significant injuries to its upper three layers, but even worse, Chen Jichuan's protective Triple Immortal Light was disturbed by the Sword Qi, leaving it in chaos. His ability for self-defense was greatly diminished, and he urgently needed to recover.
The pain from the sword strike was one thing, but the time required for healing was truly excruciating.
Time is life!
Chen Jichuan felt both hatred and dismay as he suppressed his anger toward the vile swordsman, instead turning his thoughts to this strange, mysterious new world.
…
"The Immortal Gate World is unusually eerie, with severe suppression against Immortal Dao cultivators. Even complete and undamaged Heavenly Venerate Immortals who enter will find their Mana difficult to flow, their Divine Sense unable to leave their bodies, and all magic skills hard to execute."
Through the legacy left behind by Tuota Venerable in the 'Nine Treasures Glazed Tower,' Chen Jichuan had gained considerable insight into the Immortal Gate World.
Immortal Gate World.
Also known as the 'World of Gods' or the 'Divine Throne Continent.'
The beings of this realm ascend along the path to transcendence. Here, transcendents are called mages and knights, most of whom dedicate their lives to pursuing immortality and eternity.
Immortal King.
Eternal Emperor.
These are the lifelong dreams of the majority of transcendents.
The former represents immortality, and the latter signifies eternity.
As for those who have already achieved immortality and eternity—becoming kings or emperors—they seek transcendence: the supreme thrones above the Immortal Throne and the Eternal Throne.
This is also the origin of the name 'Divine Throne Continent.'
The Divine Throne Continent is vast and boundless, no less than the Chongming Spirit Realm. Centered around the Main Material Plane, it also encompasses numerous semi-planes where kings and emperors reside, as well as realms such as the Abyss, Hell, Elemental Realm, and countless smaller domains, all filled with powerful beings and billions of lives.
Here, transcendents—mages, knights, demons, elemental spirits, and others—each have their own ranking systems.
For instance, mages are divided into Basic Mage, Advanced Mage, Expert Mage...
Similarly, knights are classified from Apprentice Knight to Official Knight to Earth Knight, and so forth.
However, due to the frequent interactions and exchanges among various professions on the Divine Throne Continent, combined with the diverse paths of beings across the Pan-plane, these transcendents have been grouped into unified levels:
Professional, Elite, Lord, Monarch, Legendary, Immortal, Eternal.
Due to their cultivation methods being fundamentally different from traditional Immortal cultivation, these transcendents' realms are not easily compared or defined relative to cultivators.
Based on Heavenly Venerates' and Immortal Venerates' rough classifications, transcendents can be loosely aligned as follows: Elite level corresponds to Qi Refining Stage cultivators, Lord level corresponds to Enlightenment True Persons, Monarch level corresponds to Divinity Transformation Stage cultivators, and Legendary level matches Fourth-order Ascension Upper Immortals.
Yet significant differences remain between the two systems.
First is lifespan.
Cultivators tend to have much longer lifespans, whereas most transcendents on the Divine Throne Continent are short-lived.
For example, an Elite Mage can live up to 200 years at most, a Lord-level individual roughly 300 years, a Monarch 500 years, and a Legendary up to 1,000 years.
Compared to cultivators, the gap in lifespan becomes increasingly pronounced the higher one ascends.
Take, for instance, a Monarch-level mage equivalent to a Divinity Transformation Stage cultivator—the former lives up to 500 years, while the latter can live for 5,000 years, ten times as long.
Legendary transcendents suffer similarly.
Unless they decide to transform into undead entities like liches, zombies, or skeletons, they cannot escape death. Alternatively, if they are exceptionally fortunate or wise, they could first achieve Legendary status, then forge an Immortal Throne or even an Eternal Throne, becoming kings or emperors and gaining the qualification for immortality or eternity.
But such a path is exceedingly difficult.
Throughout the ages, countless Legendary-level powerhouses have appeared on the Divine Throne Continent. Yet those who ultimately achieve Immortality or Eternity are few and far between.
Most Legendaries, no matter how formidable for a time, cannot escape the expiration of their thousand-year lifespans.
"Short life spans."
This is the greatest limitation of transcendents in this realm.
However, in contrast, their cultivation and growth speed far outpaces that of cultivators.
For example, Legendary-level mages equivalent to Fourth-order cultivators, constrained by their limited lifespans, can only cultivate for up to a thousand years. Yet among them are extraordinary talents who achieve Legendary status in merely two or three centuries.
Two to three hundred years.
Fourth-order.
This would be considered absurd in the Chongming Spirit Realm but is not uncommon on the Divine Throne Continent.
From this perspective, this realm might seem advantageous for Heavenly Venerates and Immortal Venerates entering—for with their Daoist cultivation and experience, even if dividing their Divine Essence into an avatar, achieving Legendary status in two or three centuries might be challenging, but in seven or eight centuries, it wouldn't be impossible.
However, reality tells a different story—immortal cultivators who reach the Fourth-order long cease to walk the same paths as other systems.
Take Fourth-order Upper Immortals: starting from the Inner Realm, they must successively expand upon the 'Qi Origin Technique,' 'Essence Origin Method,' and 'Divine Origin Skill.' Even the Life Dao and Xing Dao become difficult to co-cultivate. As for completely different systems with conflicting principles like the 'Mage-Magic Power System,' 'Knight-Combat Energy System,' and 'Warrior-Bloodline System'—it's a far cry indeed.
