Invincible Dad

Chapter 25: People, Do Not Be Too Greedy_1

"He's not some vagrant, nor is he a stranger. He's my fiancé, Xu Lai."

Ruan Tang's expression was icy as she enunciated each word, "Furthermore, I will not transfer the company, nor will I allow my sister to marry Fang Cheng!"

"You scoundrel!" Ruan Qingshan said angrily. "You ungrateful wretch! The Ruan Family raised you for all these years, and you can't even part with a single company?"

"Ruan Tang, I never expected you to be so unappreciative. You've disappointed me greatly," Song Ru said coolly. "But Ruan Lan's marriage into the Fang Family is set in stone; no one can stop it. You must sign the company transfer agreement. Otherwise, don't blame your aunt for being heartless!"

"Let's go, Xu Lai."

Ruan Tang felt nauseated by every extra second she had to stay. She stood up and pulled Xu Lai, ready to leave.

"That little bastard's name is Xu Yiyi, right?" Song Ru said suddenly. "Galaxy Kindergarten lets out at five-thirty in the afternoon."

Ruan Tang spun around, staring daggers at Song Ru. "What are you trying to say?"

"The streets are narrow and full of cars. It's quite plausible for an accident to happen and a child or two to get run over, isn't it?" Song Ru paused, then added, "By the way, Qingshan, I hear quite a few children have gone missing recently."

"Indeed," Ruan Qingshan said with a gleeful smile. "Niece, you must watch your child carefully. Don't let any bad people seize the opportunity."

Ruan Tang trembled with rage. "You people are despicable!"

"Ruan Tang, what are you talking about? Your uncle is only looking out for you," Song Ru said, lifting her chin with a mocking tone. "By the way, would you like to reconsider the contract?"

"I'll sign!"

Ruan Tang bit her lip so hard that a trace of blood trickled out. She picked up the pen and hastily scrawled her name.

"Don't you dare touch Yiyi, or I'll haunt you and never let you go, even as a ghost!"

Ruan Tang had already lost her daughter once; she could not bear to lose her a second time. Yiyi was more important to her than her own life.

"Haha."

Ruan Qingshan and Song Ru exchanged a look, smug smiles spreading across their faces.

As expected. Ruan Tang's weakness is her daughter.

Xu Lai silently watched everything unfold without intervening.

He gave Song Ru and Ruan Qingshan a deep look. "I hope you won't regret this. And I certainly hope you won't come begging to give the company back to Ruan Tang."

Song Ru snorted. Once something is in your pocket, who would be foolish enough to take it back out?

After leaving the teahouse, Ruan Tang slumped over the steering wheel, her shoulders shaking.

Xu Lai hesitated for a moment before gently patting her back. "Go ahead and cry. You'll feel better once you let it all out."

"Xu Lai, I'm so scared. I'm terrified something will happen to Yiyi. I can't give her a proper family or even keep her safe... I'm so useless..." Ruan Tang choked on her words, her self-reproach stabbing at Xu Lai's heart like thorns.

Xu Lai spoke softly, "Don't worry. No one will be able to harm Yiyi, and no one can take a single penny from our family. They'll be forced to spit it all back out, with interest!"

"Don't be silly. I just want my daughter to grow up safe and sound," Ruan Tang said, continuously wiping away her tears.

Although the Ruan Family had lost its former influence, a dying camel is still bigger than a horse. How could she possibly compete against her uncle's family, which held her grandfather's complete trust?

She dabbed the corners of her eyes and forced a smile. "I'm sorry, I lost my composure. Could you give me a moment alone?"

"Alright."

Xu Lai nodded and got out of the car to give Ruan Tang some space.

Standing on the roadside, he took out his phone and called Su Daiyi.

She answered almost immediately, her voice respectful. "Mr. Xu."

"I need you to do something for me."

"Please, tell me." Su Daiyi was instantly energized.

She had already made up her mind. No matter how difficult Xu Lai's request was, she would use the full power of the Su Family to accomplish it. In this world, the hardest thing to repay isn't money; it's a favor. And a favor from a man as powerful as Xu Lai was truly priceless!

After laying out his plan, Xu Lai ended the call.

You want my wife's company? Fine, you can have it. But whether your son is fit to take it will depend on whether he has the fate for it. People shouldn't be too greedy. Otherwise, they'll be devoured by their own boundless desires, with not even the bones left behind.

Xu Lai slipped his hands into his pockets. His smile slowly vanished, but his eyes grew as cold as the winter wind.

...

「Ruan's Fashion Design Co., Ltd.」

A young man in gold-rimmed glasses surveyed the president's office, a grin stretching nearly to his ears.

"From now on, this company is mine!" Ruan Jin declared, brimming with confidence.

He had only casually mentioned his jealousy to his parents, never imagining they could actually pull it off.

Ruan Jin squinted as he scrutinized the resentful-looking secretary standing nearby, a satisfied smirk on his face.

Although Ruan Tang's company was small and had once teetered on the brink of bankruptcy, the contract with Huashang guaranteed a conservative annual income of over thirty million. It was like free money. The Ruan Family, for all its size and diverse businesses, only had an annual net profit of fifty to sixty million! What's more, nearly all of Ruan Tang's employees were women, and most of them were beauties. Ruan Jin felt his future was going to be unimaginably blissful.

"Compile a list of all single, female employees in the company under the age of twenty-five," Ruan Jin ordered, lifting his chin to look at the secretary. "Don't forget to add your own information to the list. You get what I mean, right?"

The secretary was so furious she wanted to scream. Just ten minutes ago, this man had stormed into the company, claiming that all its shares and its legal representative had been changed. She hadn't believed it at first. It was only after calling President Ruan that she learned it was actually true!

"In your dreams! I quit! I'm not doing this!" the secretary snapped. She had a temper of her own and furiously slammed the folder down on the desk.

"Quit?" Ruan Jin said slowly. "Fine, quit. I'll just randomly fire ten 'lucky' employees. And I'll be sure to tell them the truth—that they were fired because of you."

"You—"

The secretary was so angry she started to cry. She was single and only had to fend for herself. But many of her colleagues had families and children, not to mention mortgages and car loans. Losing their jobs in a first-tier metropolis like East Sea City... wouldn't that be a death sentence for them?

"Come here. Massage my shoulders." Ruan Jin leaned back in his chair and propped his leather shoes up on the desk, his smile oozing with malevolence.

Gritting her teeth, the secretary had no choice but to reluctantly step forward to avoid getting her colleagues in trouble.

Fortunately, at that moment, a knock came at the office door.

Ruan Jin called out impatiently, "Who is it?"

"It's the Chairman of Huashang," an employee replied.

Ruan Jin quickly stood up to open the door. He had studied fashion design abroad and had paid close attention to Huashang, the leader of the domestic fashion industry. He especially admired its chairman, Wu Shang. Wu Shang was nearly fifty and was considered the 'Warren Buffett' of the fashion world. He was a legendary figure who had never made a losing deal since starting his business.

"Chairman Wu, please, come in," Ruan Jin said with an excited smile.

"Who are you?" Wu Shang asked, frowning.

"I'm Ruan Jin," he replied with a smile. "I'm the current head of Ruan's Fashion Design."

"And what about Miss Ruan Tang...?" Wu Shang inquired.

"She has sold all her shares to me," Ruan Jin said, still smiling. "If it concerns company business, you can speak directly with me."

"Oh, very well," Wu Shang said calmly. "You're aware of the cooperation contract your company was negotiating with us, correct?"

"Of course!" Ruan Jin was inwardly ecstatic. That contract was the entire reason he was here.

"The contract is printed and is ready for your confirmation and signature." As Wu Shang finished speaking, the lawyer behind him handed over two copies.

"Excellent!"

Ruan Jin picked up a pen to sign but was stopped by Wu Shang. "President Ruan, please review the contents of the contract first."

Ruan Jin had already bribed the lawyer who had negotiated the contract for Ruan Tang, so he was already familiar with the general terms. He casually flipped through a couple of pages before signing his name and adding his thumbprint. Chuckling, he said, "Chairman Wu, here's to a pleasant cooperation."

"As for the specifics of our cooperation, Lady Ruan will be the one discussing them with us," the lawyer said coolly as he collected the contracts.

"What do you mean?" Ruan Jin's expression stiffened.

"Didn't you read the contract?" the lawyer asked, feigning puzzlement.

Ruan Jin began flipping through the contract page by page, scrutinizing it carefully. At first, his expression was neutral, but it slowly grew uglier until it was utterly grim.
