Investigation Report of the Gods

Ch. 69

Chapter 69: Eyes of the Giant

Unless absolutely necessary, Han Su never wished to recite this spell in such a perilous situation.

Normal Spiritual Penetration, or the use of the Left Hand's power, would not cause the kind of dizziness Zhang Zhiguo had previously mentioned. However, the experiences within the Ancient Castle had taught him that once this spell was spoken, he too would suffer from severe depletion of Spiritual Power.

In that fleeting moment of thought, the spell had already left his lips.

It was an ordinary phrase—at least to those who sought Mysterious Power, it was so simple that it seemed ubiquitous.

Yet, during the swift recitation, it was hard for others to hear clearly. Even Han Su himself was unaware that he had added two vague bytes.

But the instant this simple spell was uttered, Han Su suddenly felt his Spiritual Power surge turbulently, rushing wildly to his Right Eye. With a certain madness, it erupted from the Right Eye.

His Right Eye immediately bled.

Within the vision of his Right Eye, the air abruptly became chaotic and dense, as if some eerie power had descended into reality, saturating the air around him.

A high-pitched horn sounded faintly, piercing into everyone’s ears.

In this cramped and narrow space, it felt as if an enormous figure had forcibly squeezed in from another dimension. In the illusion conjured by the trembling spirit, every sentient and perceptive being seemed to witness a pale giant.

He sat high upon a throne, overlooking the busy ants below.

“Shila……”

The clusters of Blurred Shadows drifting through the air dissipated under this gaze.

It was as if an invisible giant hand within the air, wielding resolute will, had completely annihilated all these existences.

Compared to the power gushing from Han Su's Right Eye, these Blurred Shadows were like snowflakes falling into the ocean.

Even Han Su himself did not understand why.

Theoretically, this was the first time he had used this spell on this Life Line. Compared to before, it felt subtly different.

At this moment, he only felt his Spiritual Power surging out of his Right Eye like crashing waves, twisted by some divine power at the Right Eye, and then acquiring an indescribable attribute.

The three characteristics of the first stage of Mysterious Power:

Activity!

Penetration!

Transformation!

Now, his Spiritual Power had undergone transformation through the Mysterious Power at the Right Eye, thereby gaining a sort of advanced might?

Then just how strong was this might?

The traits of the Crystal Plague were already terrifying to ordinary people. It could instantly warp a person’s will and thought. Even when struck by an Electric Baton, the plague could only be knocked away—it never truly disappeared.

Yet now, the power of the Right Eye had easily dissolved them.

No entanglement, no resistance—only an overbearing force that crushed all in its path.

This overwhelmingly powerful pressure even made Han Su feel as though he were a towering giant, looking down with arrogance and disdain upon all within his gaze.

“Was it that this spell was simply too formidable, or did the power of that Pale Giant inherently possess such a superior and oppressive force over the anomalies of reality?”

With the Spiritual Power at his Right Eye frantically penetrating, Han Su saw that within his Right Eye’s vision, not only were all the mental plagues being dissolved, but even the corpse lying on the ground was affected by the power.

The twisted aura emanating from its surface vanished in an instant.

With a "boom", the corpse was suddenly struck by an invisible force, sliding violently backward and slamming into the wall.

Even the flesh on its body began to melt layer by layer, revealing beneath the decaying tissue a skeleton that shimmered with crystalline radiance.

Just a moment ago, it had still resembled a bizarre corpse. But now, as the surface flesh melted away, the skeleton beneath took on an almost artistic magnificence—two-thirds of its frame had taken on a crystalline texture.

Especially the skull—glittering and translucent, it radiated iridescent light.

“This corpse is an Infected Individual of the Crystal Plague!”

Han Su realized, based on the description provided by Miss Ai, that this corpse had clearly spent a long time in proximity to the Crystal Skull unearthed from that ruin. The entire body had been aberrantly infected.

Due to the long duration and close proximity to the Crystal Skull, it had been infected into such a state. Even after death, it became a secondary contamination source, capable of spreading the plague through the Gate to infect people on the street.

But who on earth had placed such a cursed thing here?

Without time to think, the moment Han Su focused his attention on the corpse, the Mysterious Power in his Right Eye also descended, instantly suppressing the vibrant colors on the corpse.

Even the crystal texture on the surface of the bones was dissolved by this gaze, turning dim and ashen.

“Chilala……”

The air was filled with the sound of plastic bags being torn apart. More of the Crystal Plague was being dissolved. On the street outside, the Infected Individuals who had surrounded Miss Crow and the others suddenly froze on the spot.

The Blurred Shadows on their faces, as if influenced by some invisible force, began to dissipate, revealing their original facial features.

And having lost the command of will, they became like puppets, blankly standing where they were, no longer charging toward Miss Crow in a frenzy to die.

“This is……”

The Doctor and the others all sensed something was wrong, their gazes tightening as they simultaneously looked toward the location of the “Gate”.

……

……

“Mechanical Fragment……”

“Mechanical Fragment……”

Inside the “Gate”, Han Su was already immersed in an endless stream of Spiritual Flow. However, the Spiritual Flow released by the Crystal Skull had been forcibly dissolved by the Giant’s Eye and no longer carried contaminating properties.

During this process, Han Su even felt the constant echo of this term inside his mind.

It seemed to be information embedded within the Crystal Plague, dispersed into the air after being broken down by the Right Eye’s power, then perceived by his spirit.

But why would the Crystal Plague contain this information?

Han Su had no clue for the moment. About three seconds after reciting the spell, he suddenly felt dizzy, as if the world was spinning. His mind, like a sponge wrung dry of moisture, became empty and weak.

Just like back in the Ancient Castle, his Spiritual Power could hardly endure the drain of this spell.

It was as if after merely three seconds, his mind was already emptied.

But he grit his teeth, refusing to faint, and at the first opportunity warily looked toward that mysterious corpse.

That corpse, suppressed by his Right Eye, had barely any flesh left now. Most of the bone had turned greyish-brown, except for the Crystal Skull, which still emitted a bizarre beauty in a crystal hue.

This beauty flowed nimbly along its bones, as if alive.

“This thing is still『alive』……”

The thought flashed abruptly through Han Su’s mind. Ignoring the emptiness in his head, he suddenly grabbed the Electric Baton and prepared to strike the Crystal Skull.

But just as this thought flashed, the crystal material skull, seemingly out of fear, instantly burst forth with endless hallucination. From the dizzying brilliance, Han Su actually heard a voice:

“Hmm?”

“Qinggang, how can there be the power of a Pale Higher Being?”

“……”

At the moment that voice sounded, Han Su instantly felt as though his spirit was being drawn into the dazzling brilliance of the Crystal Skull, as if he had suddenly seen a space extremely distant and profound.

He saw countless identical Crystal Skulls existing within that space.

One by one, row after row, layer after layer.

Each skull was clearly visible in that space, yet surrounded by infinite shadows—these seemed to be their conditions in the real world.

Some were accompanied by phantom objects like shrines. Others had semi-transparent bodies beneath them, allowing one to infer that some were enshrined in certain places, some had grown on a person’s body, and some were locked inside safes.

An endless array of Crystal Skulls was arranged into a massive pyramid shape.

The higher it went, the fewer in number, but the larger in size, and the more intense the dreamlike crystal hues became.

At the very top, a gigantic Crystal Skull sat quietly in place.

Its radiance surpassed all others, like the origin of everything, bearing a sense of divinity.

The one Han Su was now interacting with closely was merely one piece in the corner at the base of this enormous Crystal Skull pyramid.

His Right Eye’s power had dissolved the strength of this Crystal Skull but also triggered some mysterious connection, allowing a glimpse into a corner of that mysterious world.

“All the Crystal Skulls… are one entity?”

As he glimpsed into that mysterious world, Han Su suddenly understood the connection.

Referencing the information given by Miss Ai, it became clear—the contamination of the Crystal Skull followed a cascading sequence. One Crystal Skull would contaminate the surrounding living, causing them to crystallize and turn into identical Crystal Skulls.

Most crucially, in some kind of connection, the Crystal Skulls were actually one entity, able to perceive each other?

「No unbeliever may peer into the domain of the gods!」

In a flash, Han Su heard a cold and arrogant voice and felt the gaze of the other suddenly cast upon him.

It came from a skull two tiers higher than the one in front of him, located beside the pyramid’s foundation. Through the Illusory Shadow, Han Su vaguely saw that beside that Crystal Skull stood a slender woman.

She had seemingly, through the linkage between the Crystal Skulls, perceived Han Su’s reaction here.

She raised her hand coldly and pressed it against the Crystal Skull beside her. Immediately, the Crystal Skull next to Han Su also suddenly erupted into bizarre and dazzling colors.
