Inuyasha:The third sword

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Cats or moths?

Bright rays of pure light bathe the land of the rising sun, Japan. In one of the hundreds or perhaps thousands of villages in this eastern country, a strange phenomenon could be noticed.

The rays of light coming from the sun are momentarily distorted, although this oddity is quickly fixed and everything remains the same for the inhabitants.

Inside one of the houses, not one of the largest, a young woman is sleeping peacefully. She has long black hair, pale skin as if she had not touched the sunlight and is dressed in priestess or miko clothing.

"Rise and shine, Kikyo! New day, new adventure awaiting us!"

Opening the sliding door with all the confidence in the world, a young man dressed as Onmyōji calls out loudly. He has blond hair, white skin and blue eyes that look like a reflection of the sky.

"Don't shout... I'm already awake since you entered the hallway."

Staring with her brown eyes at the young man, the priestess Kikyo shows no sign of rising from her resting place.

"Not to sound heavy, but then... Why aren't you standing?"

"I'm... I'm tired."

Remaining static for a few seconds, an uncontrolled smile grows on the young man's face, before he addresses Kikyo with clear amusement.

"Don't tell me you were up all night making the village barrier, all without realizing how tired human bodies are."

"It was necessary."

"Hahaha, of course it was. Anyway, I'll bring you breakfast now."

"Thank you, Asahiko."

Still with the smile plastered all over her face, Asahiko easily ignores her worries and leaves to get breakfast.

...Christopher/Asahiko pov…

We stayed in the village for a few more days, all in order for Kikyo to adjust to her new... Sensations.

It's not an exaggeration to say it was one of my smartest ideas, she was pretty bad with her boundaries. Collapsing on the floor after not sleeping, done. Cutting her fingers because she had used the bow too many times, done. Not quite understanding whether it's hot or cold, done.

Yes, Kikyo had quite a bit of trouble adapting to a human body again, though she never really seemed to care. Truth be told, I'm sticking with my theory that these human unforeseen events only happen because she wants them to. She said, despite her perfection she's still an illusion, so it doesn't make sense... Unless she wished for that human part too.

"Basically stay within the boundaries of the barrier and no one will die."

"Understood, we'll stay as close to the village as possible."

"Do whatever you want, Kikyo, are you ready yet?"

Giving these four men short shrift, I turn my gaze towards the nearby refugee camp and see Kikyo waving goodbye to a few people. Yeah, she's pretty popular over there.

"I've finished saying goodbye to all of them, we can go now."

"You heard her, make way we're leaving."

Scattering those four still lingering in our path, we finally leave the confines of the bar and as if by magic, the whole village disappears from sight.

"Good technique, even being so close I can't feel the difference without straining my senses."

"It's thanks to using that thing you gave the monk as a barrier core."

"Tsk, you just had to take the compliment, you know?"

Clicking my tongue in clearly feigned annoyance, I put a smile back on my face and started walking forward.

Everything was going completely fine, the sun warmed my body and the wind caressed my face... Until I noticed something strange. Kikyo is smiling, not the small smile... But the "I'm planning something" one that she always uses on Naraku.

"What's wrong, Kikyo?"

"Something must be up, Asahiko."

Well, it wasn't my imagination, something is going on. I can tell, just by that strange tone of voice and her omnipresent smile.

"Me friend. Your friend. We are friends."

"Why are you talking like that?"

"... It sounded better in my mind. Let's pretend it never happened, now can you tell me what's going on?"

Keeping a halfway acceptable face, I can easily tell she knows what I'm feeling... God, it sounded better in my mind.

"This is where the refugees came from."

"Okay, we turn around."

There was no thinking about it, no wanting it either, just had to do it.

"From the opposite side came the moth Youkai refugees, which do you prefer, cats or moths?"

"You knew right... Yes, of course you knew. This is just revenge because I didn't wait and bother you when you were eating... You must do something about your personality."

"And you with your problems that make you run away."

"Ouch, that really hurt. But you're so right."

That was a terrible verbal blow she just gave me, strong enough to make me stop in a tree and look at her carefully. Well, not really, I'm just thinking about what I'm going to deal with, whether it's moths or cats.

"Aghh, let's go this way. Always better cats than moths"

"Really?"

"Totally, moths are insects and they have wings... I can't think of anything closer to the original evil."

"Only by appearance, not by danger or damage caused."

I don't know why, but I think I went down a few notches in her confidence in me. Still it doesn't matter, they are flying insects, just like flying cockroaches... They are pure evil!.

"No time for such things, besides this way is quicker to get to Totosai's house. To keep tearing clothes apart... It's not the wisest thing to do."

"So that 's why."

"Totally, because more would be."

Acting skills don't fail me now, it conveys confidence and no fear in the face of some... Flying insects.

"Because of the moths, maybe?"

"Tsk, you're reading too much between the lines, nothing weird here."

Shaking his hair to the side with his right hand, he placed an "I'm beautiful" smile and I'm perfect again. Yes, he devil's pride is helping me not to lose face.

"Now say it more truthfully, Asahiko."

"You, you, you... Just tell me you didn't guide the whole conversation to get to this point and tell me that."

"Why would I? Haha, you're overthinking it."

Hearing Kikyo's proud laugh, I watch as she walks past me and holds her hand over her lips, very elegantly yes it must be said.

"Good grief, who have I messed with..."

There is no worse enemy than one who is lurking and even more so if he is always by your side. I guess this war of "Sincerity" is not going to end, at least I am not going to give up and she... She seems ready to give it all.
