NOVEL NEXT Chapter 8: Red planet, here I come.
It has been 5 years after the purge. The First Fleet has finished. At first, it would only take around 2 to 3 years but due to the "accidents" happening, it was delayed.
Alpha looks at the Fleet in front of him and couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. This is his first fleet, the first of many to come. This is the moment of the true expansion of the Empire.
At the moment, he was standing on the deck of the Steel class dreadnought. This boy is equipped with a triple barrel electromagnetic main gun with a caliber of 350 mm. It's also equipped with the latest generation shield generator and 25 nuclear fission engines. It has a length of about 4500 meters. There are several close in defense systems and torpedoes pods. Safe to say, with this dreadnought alone, firepower is not a problem at all.
The dreadnought is surrounded by several battleships. They have a length of around 1000-2500 meters. They have thick armour and also equipped with shield generator for better defense. For offence, there are two double barrel electromagnetic gun with a caliber of 230 mm on the front and for the back, so in total the battleship has four massive guns. Two torpedoes pods are placed in front for better accuracy. All others layout were similar to the dreadnought, the only difference is that the battleship has hangars for fighter jets and transport crafts to take off, after all you couldn't colonize a planet just by having ships in the orbit.
Surrounding these battleships are destroyers, with it's powerful ability to intercept enemy munitions. The main purpose of these destroyers is to gurad the battleships and dreadnought against enemy torpedoes and fighter jets.
Finally, the cruisers come at the front. With it's speed and powerful firepower, it is best at dealing continuous damages to enemies ships. Even though it doesn't has a powerful main gun as the battleships nor the dreadnought, it make it up by having several smaller turrets and missiles pods.
Seeing that the fleet is ready, Alpha send the order to start the engine.
" Destination had been marked, travelling to the orbit of the Red planet, estimated time of arrival is around 2 months. "
Then, the engines shine bright and with it's powerful thrust the ships begin to move forward in an orderly manner.
