Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 186: City of Isolation

The monsters soon fell under the group's relentless attacks.

But everyone's confusion reached its peak.

What really happened to Wenster?

Clearly, this was not a sudden event; it was premeditated. Thinking back to what Sandro said before he fell, this is all Sandro's conspiracy.

What exactly is he planning?

"No matter what, I must get back to the Prohibition Bureau as soon as possible."

Heisenberg was the first to voice his thoughts. He still wanted to test the components of the rainwater. As an expert who regularly handles national security affairs, he gave his own judgment.

"This is very likely a large-scale sacrifice."

A sacrifice...

Indeed, Sandro mentioned the term "tribute" before.

"Then let's go together."

Ethan suggested.

Judging from the recent wave of monsters blocking them, the situation in the city must be dire, especially since they heard the bell ringing.

There might be more monsters, and splitting up at this point is obviously unwise.

Even though Ethan was worried about Vincent and the others, if he got trapped too, there'd be no way to rescue anyone.

Ned, who arrived shortly after, also agreed.

The officials from the City Hall who were hiding in the cars, too scared to get out, didn't dare to oppose.

Thus, everyone boarded the cars again.

The convoy assembled and headed toward the city.

However, just as they entered the city, they were once again attacked by those monsters.

Fortunately, this time there weren't as many monsters, and with the combined force of Ethan and the others, they quickly eliminated these creatures.

But they fully understood the current state of the city.

Monsters were rampant everywhere, dragging people into the rainwater, letting them be soaked by it.

This was clearly part of some ritual.

But Ethan and the others had too few people, and couldn't manage to bring all those outside into the houses, which would waste too much time.

So they could only watch people lying on the streets, drenched by the rain.

Ethan's heart had already hardened; he was unsurprised. Yet Sofia was shedding tears.

Yes, Sofia once again got into Ethan's car as they had already regrouped.

Seeing her tearful face, Ethan considered comforting her, but she gently shook her head and wiped her tears.

"It's alright, Ethan, don't worry about me."

It seemed, in that instant, Sofia had grown up.

Finally, after enduring a few more waves of monster attacks, Ethan and the others spent over half an hour arduously reaching the Prohibition Bureau.

Once at the Prohibition Bureau, fortunately, the inside was still intact, although it was clear monsters had tried to attack, but the Bureau had sufficient military support, with several monsters already shot dead at the entrance.

Seeing Heisenberg returned, the tightly closed doors of the Prohibition Bureau immediately opened.

Heisenberg wasted no time, immediately leading the group to test the rainwater.

Ned was preparing to use the Bureau's phone to contact all the city's official institutions and personnel.

But he was informed that the phone was no longer working.

No signal.

The telegraph was the same.

Having encountered those monster attacks, they had already tried all kinds of communications.

"So, we're completely isolated in Wenster?"

Ned realized the gravity of the situation.

And those remaining at the Bureau said, "We've sent people out to sea, hoping to seek help via maritime routes."

"How long since they departed?"

At this, Ned seemed to think of something but didn't speak.

Ethan understood his intention; he clearly wanted to ask about the Sea God but couldn't ask directly, so Ethan asked for him.

"What about the Sea God? Have you seen any sign of the Sea God?"

"The Sea God?"

The person on watch was stunned, then moved to the window to look outside.

"Strange, where is the Sea God? We could always see a part of it from here."

The Bureau wasn't far from the port district, and the Sea God was massive, theoretically, as long as it didn't leave, one should be able to see it.

But now, from the window, the towering ship was nowhere to be seen.

"Did the Sea God leave?"

This was the response from the person on watch.

Ethan and Ned exchanged a glance.

"More likely, the Sea God has disappeared."

Joseph was also gazing out the window.

He wasn't someone known for empty words.

His statement really meant the Sea God vanished, combined with the disappearance of telephone, telegraph, and other radio signals.

They're essentially isolated in Wenster.

Truly isolated.

"We've fallen into some kind of temporal anomaly."

At this moment, Heisenberg returned.

He clearly overheard some of Ethan and the others' conversation and made his own judgment.

"What are the components of the rainwater?"

Joseph immediately asked.

"Not so quickly." Heisenberg shook his head.

Then looked at everyone.

The real question now is simple, what to do next.

"We must find Sandro again." Ethan said.

This direction is correct; since everything was caused by Sandro, then they need to find Sandro.

If they can completely kill Sandro, perhaps everything will end.

But where could Sandro be?

"We still need to rally our people; we still have too few members, and there are actually scattered combat forces throughout the city."

Ned spoke from the big-picture perspective.

It's unknown how many monsters there are in the city now; relying solely on the Prohibition Bureau's personnel, even if they find Sandro, they might not be able to defeat him.

"Then while it's still light, let's go out and find people together, divide into three groups: I'll lead one group, Ned, you lead one, Joseph, you and Ethan lead another."

Heisenberg understood the gravity of the situation, making a strategic proposal.

With this division, their combat strength was balanced, even when encountering a large number of monsters, they should be able to retreat safely.

With the plan set, the three teams began gearing up to depart.

The benefits of everyone arriving at the Prohibition Bureau together were evident now; the Bureau was already equipped with lots of standard weaponry, and various Kingdom Defense Bureau gear. Additionally, Heisenberg brought some more, leaving them fully supplied, more than enough to arm the three teams.

Fully armed, the three teams separated at the Bureau's entrance.

"Before nightfall, everyone must return; if anything happens, use the signal flare, and we'll come to support as quickly as possible."

Heisenberg assumed the role of temporary commander.

Ethan chose to search toward the North District, which was a somewhat selfish thought as he wanted to search for Vincent and Virel's whereabouts.

Before the rain fell, they should have only just left Holiday Sunshine; with their combat strength, they shouldn't be killed by monsters so quickly.
