Chapter 178: Schooling a level 7 viper (1)
Right on that day, Theo went toward the territory of the vipers in hopes of finding a level 7 beast.
The time spent in the carriage was a lot more leisurely now, with three people just talking about the current things happening.
Theo got to know a lot about what was going on in the town just to pass time. But every time he heard something about the town, he always felt a lot more curious about it.
He knew if he could ever be allowed to go to the town, it would become the most normal and unlooking-forward thing of all time.
But being forbidden to go there made it even more tempting.
In another 30 minutes, Theo reached the forest where Chip went to find a big level 7 beast right away.
"Are you going to reach level 5 soon, young master Theo?" Warren, who was sitting leisurely at the carriage's driving front, asked while looking at his status.
"Just a little more, Warren. I am quite near," Theo stated with a grin, and Warren nodded with a proud look before sleeping again.
Even though he did nothing but drive him around and sleep, Theo's bond with Warren was also really good. It had been a year and more of constant meetings now, with Theo wanting to go to the forest every day.
"Chip found it, young master. Though it's really far," Elias stated with closed eyes, which was a good way of concentrating while communicating with a tamed beast.
"Perfect, just direct the way," Theo said with a smirk and looked at Clara. "How much antidote do we have, Clara?" Theo asked while entering the forest with his sword out.
"Around 5 vials," Clara stated with a concerned look. "Though it would be great if you don't need it today. Using it every day can lessen its effects, young master."
"What if I get an immunity to poison?" Theo asked with a curious smile. "I have read quite a lot of knights have it by their 30s."
"My apologies, I don't know about that. But getting an immunity is excruciatingly hard, young master."
"Let's just see what happens."
Theo saw the clearing that he stood at every day, and when the slightly tall grass started, the mantis quickly hopped from Theo's shoulder to a blade of grass, falling to the ground right away.
"Habits don't go, huh," Theo chuckled and focused again.
The mantis had the habit of grabbing a blade of grass and staying on it. The grass, while a lot lighter, was still a lot tougher than the normal ones. So the mantis liked climbing on top and staying on it.
But having an increase in size now made it fall to the ground right away.
RUSTLE RUSTLE
Theo saw the boar quickly come toward him and stay by his side, while the pup stayed with Clara.
He patted the boar quite a few times before he heard his first abnormal rustle, stopping while showing a hand sign.
Everyone stopped, and Clara smiled. Theo's perception was increasing day by day, and with a natural increase in dexterity a month ago, his senses were a lot better.
He heard the rustle once again and started moving slowly toward it before moving his sword up and shifting the hilt in his hand.
He moved the hilt toward the ground with a quick jab, and a kill message came in front of him.
When he moved the sword back up, the body of the small viper moved up too by the head, making Clara nod.
"Let's store this one for later," Theo spoke in a whisper and handed the viper's body carefully to Clara, who placed it in a medium-sized leather pouch she was carrying on her back.
Elias and Clara both were carrying these bags as it was a lot better and handy. Theo wanted to carry it too, but Clara didn't let him, saying there was no need.
After walking for another few minutes, Theo had hunted almost three more vipers, with one giving him a surprise attack, only to be grabbed by the ape as if it were a rope. Its spine broke right away, and Theo was saved.
The viper they were looking for was a lot deeper than anyone would have liked.
Theo still remembered the day they handled the level 7 ape and when countless small vipers came in a swarm from one direction, making them run on the boar.
It was truly a spine-tingling moment.
A few minutes later, Elias finally stopped Theo.
"We should make preparations here, young master," he spoke, and Theo nodded.
The boar went on duty right away, tearing off the ground with vigorous energy. It tried not to show its excited emotions on its face, but everyone already knew.
The pup grabbed and killed two vipers coming toward them before Theo even sensed them. While Theo was trying to sense them, the beasts had these instincts by birth.
While the small clearing was being readied, the mantis kept eating the small viper's body, which Theo had given it to pass the time. The body was already halfway eaten, with the poison sac thrown away like usual.
When it was finally ready, the pup was given the description of the big viper by Clara before sending it to procure the beast.
Theo waited patiently in the center with the others. The ape was sent up the top of a tree not to scare the viper and make it run away.
After just a minute, Theo heard loud rustling of the grass in the front. He took a deep breath and increased his focus.
It only took the pup a few seconds to run back to the clearing and toward Clara to get some pats.
It was only a moment later that Theo saw the big nostalgic head pop out of the grass with its wide, snake-like, sharp eyes.
"It's time for the hunt to begin," Theo said and readied his sword. The mantis was already tugged onto his leg and was looking at the snake with focus too.
