Ch 36: Transfiguration

*Ano's POV*

"7 sickles says that the Belmont will forget his wand or his uniform," Alucard said from beside me.

"10 Sickles say that he has an extra article of clothing on," I said with confidence.

" Phew! At least the teacher hasn't arrived yet." Simon said as he entered the class with everyone else.

" Tch. The Belmont can't even do this right. He even doesn't even own that penguin nightcap." Alucard sighed from my right and was ready to hand me my sweet sweet money.

'I absolutely do not own that penguin cap.' I thanked the penguin cap for taking one for the team.

"Shit I forgot my damm shoes!" Simon groaned as he noticed he only had a single shoe on. Everyone in the class chuckled.

"Well, that's quite a pickle. Now since you're an immortal vampire you're going to be giving me money. Issue resolved." I said and Alucard only replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Aww come on."

"Well, you can be immortal too. Nonaging species aren't uncommon. Last I checked there were probably a couple on each continent. That's not taking a Progenitor like yourself into consideration." Alucard replied.

" Tch Cheapstake."

" Since all of you have decided to grace us with your presence I suggest you all take a seat. I expect better from all of you in the future." Professor McGonagall decided that it was enough naptime as a kitty and turned back into a human.

" Come on! That's it? Beat their ass. Choose violence! Especially the Belmont." I said in a quiet shout.

'He lost me a bet dammit.'

" While I can never understand that sentiment Mr. Anos I'll have you know that violence is never the answer." Professor McGonagall said sternly and I nodded.

"Absolutely correct Professor....." I started and Professor McGonagall gave the slightest smile

"..... Violence is never the answer. It's a question and the answer is YES." I said with a nod and a smile.

Now everyone was looking at me.

"Uh.....can we take our seats?" Simon asked and Professor McGonagall took a moment to register the words and then gave a nod.

Lan Zhan didn't seem to be bothered by the awkwardness as he sat beside us.

The seats were 3 students each so we were both alone on ours. No one wanted to sit in the front of course. Even the seats directly behind us were empty but Simon and Draco sat down at them. Though they did so a bit more reluctantly. The girls were sitting all the way over on the other side of the room.

"Transfiguration is considered a frugal art by many wizards for its lack of explosive force or shiny glittery spells." Professor McGonagall started her lecture.

" We're actually gonna study on the first day?" Ron Weasley said out a bit too loud.

" The last time I checked this was an Educational institution, Mr. Weasley. I don't suppose you forgot about that." Professor McGonagall said sharply and Ron suddenly looked very interested in his table.

" Does he want an Orientation or Something?" Simon said from behind me but I was focused on something else. Ron didn't even look at us. Like there were certainly enough of us but his eyes seemed to phase through empty space when looking at us.

" Now as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted." Professor McGonagall started again and I had to return to the lecture.

" There are very few who can understand the complexity of turning an Owl into a lamppost or a Rat into a Gold covered chalice or a rusted piece of Metal into a Labyrinth opening Master Key and if you're really feeling like it then doing all of them simultaneously. Not to mention that Transfiguration is the most viable method for achieving the rank of a Cluster. The finest refinement is required to turn your magic just perfectly. So I expect nothing less than the most extreme amount of focus from everyone present. Though I suppose those words won't amount to much in front of some of you." She said and Hermione put her hand up.

" Ms. Granger though I certainly appreciate the curiosity all doubts will be answered after the lecture has ended," Professor replied and Hermione looked almost ready to shout the question but held herself in.

"Today you'll all be converting a mouse into a Candle. Though it'll be better to say that you'll all be trying to." She then held up a cage of pitch-black mice that looked like a storm cloud more than anything.

" I'll be satisfied if you can convert its hair color to white. Now out with your wands." She then started handing each one of us a mouse.

" Hey, there big guy. Looks like I'm your partner for today." I said as I held the little black mouse in my hands.

"Try to create an image of the finished object. Don't focus on the details for now just try to get a rough image." Professor McGonagall instructed after everyone had a little mouse roaming around on their desk. At least the other wands weren't auto-firing on me.

" I would love to play with you but let's try to get me some house points shall we," I said as I pointed my wand at the mouse who was looking around curiously and reaching his little hands towards the tip of my wand.

"Close your eyes and try to frame a rough picture in your mind."

I followed the instructions and tried to imagine a little white mouse in front of me for starters. It wasn't going to be a difficult task.

But then I stopped as I heard a scream. I opened my eyes and even through my mask, I could still feel the little drops of blood on the uncovered parts of my face. For a moment I was confused before as I heard the sound of someone vomiting behind me.

But after seeing the lack of a mouse and the appearance of a blood covered tail in front of my desk I wanted to throw up too.

"Blegh." Simon emptied his stomach behind me.
