Chapter 41, Consequences

(Day 167) Aprilis 12th, 12th year of the Dragon, Age of Enlightenment

Actions have consequences. While Adamantadine was busy with his guests at 5 a.m. others were also making plans in The Kingdom of Crimson Blood

“Are you sure?” The Lead Assassin asked.

“Very, Seraphin has been killed. Also, Belarious is dead as well. The Kingdom of Liam II's strongest mage is no more.

“And the Dungeon currently doesn’t have an Item of Power, and now the Dungeon Master is dead? The Praetor clarified.” She asked aloud, already knowing the answer she ignored any response. The Assassin’s Guild had been tasked with killing Belarious, which they sent Seraphin to do. Her last report had her working directly with Belarious biding her time. If she’d succeeded?

“Recall everyone, we go at dawn.”

Over the next hour, Desirae reviewed the plans they’d so carefully put together. The Council would be happy when they were done. She had brothers and sisters strategically placed to remove the head from the Kingdom of Liam II within moments. Converts that had been promised positions of prominence in the new structure that would be placed under the rule of “The Council” out of Crownport. The Military would be subverted and the Nobels would either capitulate or be slain. She had ten, nine now, assassins in the Legendary Ranks, 15 in the Mythical, 20 in the Advanced, and 55 scarce or lower-ranked assassins. It should be more than enough. The Legendary and Mythic assassins had been prepositioned and had already received their orders. At first light, they would take out their targets. The other assassins would teleport into the King’s chambers as soon as the King was dead. None were to be left alive in the castle. From there they would spread through the city activating the converts and starting the revolt. There would be a lot of death and destruction, which was the way she liked it.

Her mission was a bit more ambitious. With the Dungeon Master dead, she needed to make her way to the Dungeon and claim it. Her portal would open within moments of everyone else. She equipped Fang, her most prized possession, A +12 shortsword, also an artifact in its own right that allowed her to utilize her full-strength bonuses, constantly repaired itself and left a bleeding effect that removed 10% of the damage done with each strike which for her was at least 94 points of damage per second. Also, her agility and stamina regen were high enough that she could strike at least 4 times without worrying about losing any stamina. She had hit high-level monsters, then faded away to watch them die seconds later.

Today was going to be glorious.
