Infinite Wealth System: Crazy Tasks, Insane Rewards!

Chapter 189: A Changed Person

Although Esta having a clue didn't make it sure, it still meant that there was quite a chance of Jayden being the guy, right?

Royce couldn't just help the shock... He hadn't reacted that way because of the long enmity between him and Jayden... Not because Jayden sent him away and took all his father's properties, because of course he knew he deserved it.

He had reacted that way because... because it was simply obvious.

Royce just couldn't have any doubts after remembering how Jayden rose from nothing, rising to the top of the city in a matter of weeks, and how he became a billionaire so suddenly before his eyes.

How he took down every single person that harmed his family, and how he became President of Nortasia.

Those recollections hit him hard, and it took him quite some time to digest the feeling.

"I heard things hadn't really gotten along with you and Jayden over the years. Heard he sent you away and ordered the entire country to let you starve or else leave the country. He killed your father as well," Esta said.

"No, you got it wrong at the last statement. I killed my father myself," Royce cut in.

"Oh... you did?" Esta asked with her brows furrowed.

"Discovered that devil killed my mother. My little sister knew it all those times I was standing strongly by him, and she refused to tell anyone. If I had known, I would have killed him right before he realized it," Royce said.

Esta stayed silent for a moment and nodded.

"So, all you did... all the wrongs you did... was for the sake of making your father proud?" Esta asked.

Royce gave her a glare, hesitated, and then nodded.

"Even though you knew it was the wrong thing," Esta added.

"He made me believe I was doing the right thing. He made me feel like I was doing the right thing. I never saw any other perspectives, and I was blinded by power... I was blinded by the fact that he was the richest man in the city, and that I could do anything I wanted."

"I was a fool, and I will regret that for the rest of my life."

Those words came out heavily from Royce's mouth, and Esta heard each and every one of them.

She felt the emotions, and completely saw the sincerity, but in the end she understood that all that had affected his change was because of Jayden's punishment, and that Royce had gotten to see the other side of life after Jayden had exiled him.

Finally, it appeared that Royce was feeling what it is to be a real sympathetic human, and that was surely why he wanted to help stop the Grandmaster.

"So, I want to ask you, Royce... are you a changed person now?" Esta asked.

Royce hesitated, and he gave a slightly confused reaction to that.

"I don't know... maybe I am. Maybe I ain't," he replied with a soft tone.

But then...

"To me you are," Esta then said, as she smiled and gave a hand for a knuckle shake.

Royce couldn't help but smile back, giving a hand back, and then they moved on to work.

"Now, the best thing to do is meet up with Jayden. You and I actually have no access to leaving Nexus, so I think we can do it the crook way," Esta said.

Royce nodded. "I can't be the one going. Jayden would order his men to gun me down once he set his eyes on me."

"That's not a problem. You don't have to go there. You just have to forward the letter," Esta said.

Royce nodded, but still had a trace of uncertainty in his face.

He knew that everyone in Nortasia would know him, and there is no way he would get away once a considerable amount of people noticed him.

Things might just get ugly at that point, and he knew it.

However, he still knew he was the only one down for this job, since Esta had a lot of eyes on her.

After what Neil did to her father, he had made sure that all her moves were watched, so there wouldn't be a potential revenge on him.

The sneaking Royce had been managing to make was simply because he was a Chosen, and the security figures wouldn't be expecting a betrayal from a man who got injected by the Serum, right?

That was the luck that Royce got, however, that didn't mean he was entirely safe either way.

They soon got the plans done, and the only way they figured Royce could get out of Nexus was through the Commanders, who used specialized tech portals that cost a lot of effort and work from the best of crafters in Nexus.

It had been really hard for people from Nexus to enter Earth, and this was because of The Shield.

Because Magnus died, he didn't only create the Absolute Guide, but also a great force that no tech expert could destroy. This was to keep his brother away from attacking Earth, and make the one who had received the Absolute Guide advance and be ready for what was to come.

That was amongst the things that Royce learned when hearing the story from Esta, and of course, it was one of the points that had boosted the obvious reason that Jayden could be the man.

Later that day, he went back to Commander Cross's house for a visit.

He knew that if there was any way he could get help, or at least a clue on how to leave, it would be from Commander Cross.

Putting on the best of attires for a big shot in the community, he progressed to the mansion with one of his best cars.

A wagon-like silver car without a name.

Of course, summoned cars don't need to have names, right?

As soon as Royce arrived at the compound, he suddenly spotted a tense scene right before his eyes.

Two robots, two men, Kael, and the Grandmaster.

He didn't even get enough time to grasp the view again when those two robots struck hard shots at Commander Cross, who was kneeling before them, gunning him down on the spot.

At the sight of that, Royce froze.
